Suki Waterhouse channels Edith Piaf in the video for “Omg,” her shimmery new single.
The singer, model, and Daisy Jones & the Six actress had teased the new song on social media for days, finally releasing it. “It’s really, really the best way to start my year,” she tells Rolling Stone, on a call from Los Angeles. “I’ve been holding onto it for a while.”
The track, co-written with Natalie Findlay and Jules Apollinaire, is a synthy, sleazy rocker with the kind of anthemic chorus that will be in your head for days.

At his home in Catalonia, Spain, last year, Labi Siffre received the latest in a series of requests to use one of his songs in a soundtrack. Based on a synopsis of the movie, set in a boarding school in New England, the singer-songwriter signed off. “The storyline was quite nice, and I thought, ‘Yeah, Ok,’” he says. “And that’s all I remembered of it. You move on with the rest of the work you are doing.”

Arctic Monkeys, Gun N’ Roses, and Elton John are headlining the 2023 Glastonbury Music Festival, signifying a more legacy focused – and very male — direction for the iconic British event. And while calls have intensified in recent years for music festivals and awards shows to diversify their bills, Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis says a “pipeline” problem within the industry is to blame for not developing headline-worthy women artists.
Speaking to The Guardian, Eavis insisted that diversity of all identities was a big Glastonbury focus, noting that 46% of the lineup features people of color (48% of the names on the bill are women). “We’re trying our best so the pipeline needs to be developed,” Eavis said. “This starts way back with the record companies, radio. I can shout as loud as I like but we need to get everyone on board.”

The Glastonbury 2023 headliners have been announced by Emily Eavis.
The festival’s co-organiser shared the news in an article discussing “pipeline” problems related to the all-male headlining line-up.
Joining Elton John will be Arctic Monkeys on the Friday, headlining for their third time, with Guns N’ Roses playing the Saturday slot.
Eavis said that Guns N’ Roses replaced a female singer who “changed her touring plans”.
While Eavis didn’t name names, it’s strongly suspected she was alluding to Taylor Swift, who was originally set to perform in 2020 when the festival was cancelled due to Covid.
However, Eavis expressed excitement about the “Sweet Child O’ Mine” rockers’ Glastonbury debut, telling The Guardian: “They’ll be brilliant and provide something totally different to the rest of the headliners.”
She said that Lizzo will “open” for the band, with the “About Damn Time” singer receiving joint headline billing on the poster.

Earlier this month, Uber released a 30-second preview of their Super Bowl commercial, which featured Sean Combs, aka Diddy, being asked to record a song for Uber One.
While the preview shows Diddy refusing to do a jingle, he does agree to record a hit for the company and invited the viewers to “meet me at the studio.”
With the help of Diddy, Uber did indeed deliver “one hit for Uber One” – or rather multiple versions of multiple hits for Uber One – in their Super Bowl Lvii commercial.
With throwbacks to classic songs like “This is How We Do It,” “Milkshake” and “I Love You Always Forever,” the ad shows Diddy recording in the studio with strategically placed Uber Eats deliveries, and includes cameos of artists Montell Jordan, Kelis, Donna Lewis and even “What Does the Fox Say” Norwegian comedy duo, Ylvis.

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…
Season one
Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster
Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn

Prime Video's Nazi-hunting series "Hunters" returns this month for a second season that has turned out to be its last, and what better way for a show like this to go out than by taking down the biggest target of all? Yep, that's right: David Weil's assassin dream team is tracking no less than Adolf Hitler himself this time around, after the first season finale revealed that the genocidal dictator is seemingly still alive in South America in the 1970's.
Also seemingly still alive? Al Pacino's Meyer Offerman, aka "The Wolf," an infamous Nazi who spent the show's first season pretending to be a Holocaust survivor himself. Logan Lerman's Jonah killed The Wolf at the end of season 1, but Pacino's still here, possibly taunting the mathematician's dreams from beyond the grave. "Come on, my friend, you look as if you've seen a ghost," he says to the camera.

“Firefly Lane” Season 2 has arrived, and with it comes another loaded lineup of signature songs for the seventies, eighties, nineties and early 2000s. Throughout the shifts between three separate timelines in Tully and Kate’s friendship, needle drops help distinguish which part of their lives we’re watching, especially when it gets confusing between the older versions of Kate Mularkey Ryan (Sarah Chalke) and Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl). Kristin Hannah’s 400+ page novel off of which the television show is based uses certain songs and lyrics to introduce the new decades, or parts of the book, like Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” Pat Benatar’s “Love Is a Battlefield” and more.

Britney Spears has denied allegations that she was criticising Selena Gomez in an Instagram caption that has since been deleted.
In the original caption, Britney spoke of women judging other women for their freedom to express themselves.
‘Don’t you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram ???!!!!!’ Britney wrote on the social media platform.
Many fanss believed that Spears was referencing the speech that Gomez made in 2016 when accepting the award for Favourite Female Artist in Pop/Rock at the American Music Awards.
Gomez said at the time: “I don’t wanna see your bodies on Instagram. I wanna see what’s in here [your heart].”
Spears’s post continued: “They say ‘This is Not something I would do’, yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream!

Beyoncé is setting the record straight. In an Oct. 4 interview with The Sun, '90s duo Right Said Fred, which features brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass, claimed the Grammy winner didn't ask their permission to use their 1992 song "I'm Too Sexy" in her song "Alien Superstar" from her latest album, "Renaissance." On Friday, Oct. 7, Beyoncé responded to the duo's claims via her representative, per Entertainment Weekly. (Popsugar reached out to Beyoncé's reps for comment on the matter but did not receive an immediate response.)
In their interview with The Sun, the Fairbrass brothers called Beyoncé "arrogant." They also claimed they couldn't do anything about the composition being used due to their lack of status. "You are going to get into a conversation with someone who has a lot more presence and power and money than we do. And that won't go well," they said. "It's best to let it go.

In a recent interview with The Sun, brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass of Right Said Fred criticized the pop superstar for allegedly sampling their song “I’m Too Sexy” without asking.

Beyoncé has the dates and receipts. Several days ago, Nineties duo Right Said Fred claimed to The Sun that the Renaissance singer never asked for permission to use their song “I’m Too Sexy” as a sample on “Alien Superstar.” But now, Beyoncé is clearing the “erroneous and incredibly disparaging.” claims, saying her team asked for publishing permission and paid for the composition’s usage.

Beyoncé’s team have responded after Right Said Fred claimed that the singer used their song without “approaching” them.
Earlier this week the pop duo criticised the use of their 1992 hit song “I’m Too Sexy”, which is sampled on Beyoncé’s track “Alien Superstar”.
"Normally the artist approaches us but Beyoncé didn’t because she is such an arrogant person, she just had probably thought ‘come and get me’, so we heard about it after the fact when you did,” they said speaking at the 2022 BMI Awards.
“But everyone else, Drake and Taylor Swift – they came to us. To use our melody they need our permission so they send us the demo and we approve it and if so we get a co-write credit.
“With this Beyoncé thing there are 22 writers. It’s ridiculous so we would get about 40p,” the brothers added.

Long ago, Beyoncé decided to let her music speak for herself.
“I’m grateful I have the ability to choose what I want to share,” she told Harper’s Bazaar last year, in a brief, extremely rare interview that reads as if it may have been conducted via e-mail. “One day I decided I wanted to be like Sade and Prince. I wanted the focus to be on my music, because if my art isn’t strong enough or meaningful enough to keep people interested and inspired, then I’m in the wrong business.

Right from the start, In Search of… stood out. I discovered N.E.R.D.’s 2002 debut at a Best Buy on the rim of Houston’s I-10 loop, sitting at the front of the store on a blue kiosk marked 6.99. I was a first-year high school English teacher, struggling to pull together all the things expected of me. There was this unfussy album cover staring at me, with a twenty-something Black guy on a battered-looking couch in a nondescript apartment playing a video game in his house clothes, blankly staring at an off-screen TV,...

Beyoncé and Madonna have teamed up for a royal collaboration, “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” The latest remix of Beyoncé’s Renaissance single arrived on Friday, just in time to get the weekend party started.
The percolating remix interpolates Madonna’s “Vogue” with Beyoncé flipping the script for the iconic spoke-sung section of the 1990 song, where the Material Girl lists Hollywood stars from the Golden Age. In Bey’s take, she pays homage to both current and past influential Black women who have been game-changers for the culture — from Aaliyah,...

Lyrics from two songs on Beyoncé’s new album Renaissance were updated as a result of discussions on social media. A verse on “Heated” was altered after activists noted it contained language that has been described as ableist. Then, the singer Kelis shared a series of Instagram posts expressing frustration that her hit “Milkshake” was sampled on the album without her knowledge, describing it as “theft.” Both instances raise questions about the increasing malleability of music as a digital product.
Already, albums from major musicians are often updated with deluxe editions featuring added songs.

Beyoncé is continuing to respond to feedback: the singer removed the "Milkshake" riff interpolated on "Energy," off her new "Renaissance" album, following complaints from the song's original performer, Kelis. In a series of videos leading up to this decision, Kelis said she was not previously notified about the sample and expressed her frustrations with music-industry contracts, issues of ownership, and her splintered relationship with former collaborators Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes.
As it currently stands, the sample can no longer be heard on streaming platforms, and Williams and Hugo have been removed from the song credits available on Beyoncé's website. This also comes shortly after Beyoncé scrapped an ableist slur, the word "spaz," from the song "Heated."
The issue first began on July 25, days before the release of "Renaissance," when fans got hold of a list of the artists sampled on the album. A Kelis fan page shared said list,...

Over the years we’ve seen countless brand reinventions, with some successful and others much more on the laughable end of the scale.
