The upcoming season of Sex Education will be without Rakhee Thakrar. The actress, who played teacher Emily Sands in the Netflix dramedy, confirmed to Daily Star Sunday that she will not be returning for Season 4.
“I’m not part of the new series. I can’t really talk about why,” she told the publication, adding “But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.”
Deadline has reached out to Netlix for comment.
Thakrar follows the recent exits of Tanya Reynolds, who portrayed Lily since the series’ launch, Patricia Allison (aka Ola) who played Lily’s romantic interest, and Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley, who announced her departure earlier this year. Thakrar also is an original cast member on the series.
“It’s just the natural progression of these shows,” Reynolds told UK’s Radio Times in an interview last month.

On Tuesday, Netflix unveiled the trailer for “Sex Education” Season 3, which will premiere Friday, September 17. The good days at Moordale High appear to be well and truly in the past.
Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Sex Education Season 3, and the new headmaster (played by Jemima Kirke) appears to be all about embracing change.
She's clearly been given the job of clearing up the school's image after it being declared "Sex School" following a string of very public controversies.
Hope sets out to change quite a bit about the school, including giving the students uniforms, painting over lockers, and among other wild things.
There's even a woman in one of the classes yelling at the students that sex is bad. Make of that what you will.
We also delve deeper into the complicated relationship between Otis and Maeve, who has clearly not been around each other since the whole deleted voicemail at the end of the second season.
Speaking of Maeve, it looks like...

Michelle De Swarte (The Duchess) is set as the lead in HBO/Sky’s horror comedy The Baby. Amira Ghazalla (Riviera) and newcomer Amber Grappy also have been cast as series regulars in the eight-episode series from debut screenwriter Siân Robins-Grace, Lucy Gaymer and Cherynobyl producer Sister. The series is a co-production of HBO and Sky and is currently in production in the UK.
Questioning who gets to choose “motherhood” and who doesn’t, The Baby, is co-created and written by Robins-Grace and Gaymer. It is a funny, raw examination of motherhood as an institution: a set of unspoken and often horrifying rules that affect women differently depending on how they’re viewed by society. If you’re not scared by that, you should be.

Netflix has dropped the trailer for Season 2 of “Sex Education,” and this year there have been some changes at Moordale Secondary — namely, a really bad chlamydia outbreak.
But have no fear — Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) is here. Otis (Asa Butterfield) looks on in horror as his mother stands before the school assembly to start “an open conversation about S-e-x,” which inspires one classmate to shout out, “Didn’t you wank off a courgette?” (That’s British for zucchini).

Netflix still has yet to announce a release date for the eight-episode second season of its critically-acclaimed teen dramedy “Sex Education” — other than the sometime in 2020 — but it has provided a first look of the said second season to whet its audience’s appetite.
“Sex Education” stars Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn, a “late bloomer” with little interest in sex, who winds up becoming his school’s de facto sex therapist. In Season 2, Otis will be mastering his “newly discovered sexual urges” in order to have a successful relationship with his girlfriend Ola, while dealing with his strained relationship with Maeve.
Also, there’s a chlamydia outbreak at the school.
According to Netflix, the first season of “Sex Education” was viewed in 40 million households in its first four weeks. In her IndieWire review of the first season, Liz Shannon Miller called “Sex Education” “the anti-’13 Reasons Why'” and praised the series for its sweetness.

No year is a “bad year” for movies, but some years aren’t exactly too kind to certain subjects, genres, concepts and people. 2016, for all of its many negatives, has been a good year for film – and for its women, both behind the camera and squarely in front of it.
While female filmmakers are still struggling to be recognized in the same way as their male counterparts, the women who have broken through – from reliable auteurs like Andrea Arnold, Rebecca Miller, Kelly Reichardt and Anne Fontaine to rising stars like Maren Ade, Sophia Takal and Clea Duvall – did so in a very big way this year, thanks to films that spoke to their own talents and visions. Actresses also shown bright in 2016, from awards favorites like Natalie Portman, Annette Bening and Octavia Spencer to fresh faces like Kate Lyn Sheil, Ruth Negga and Sasha Lane.

Sophie Goodhart’s charming, low-key debut My Blind Brother is a deceptively emotional experience. It’s the story of a love triangle between a deluded megalomaniac, his unappreciated brother, and a young woman who believes that she’s being punished by the universe for her recent actions, but as cartoony as that potential scenario sounds, it’s very grounded.
The two brothers in this case are Bill (Nick Kroll) and Robbie (Adam Scott). Since becoming blind at an early age, Robbie’s life has become a series of athletic feats. As we begin, Robbie has just finished running a marathon, and hours later, he’s already planning to swim the length of a local river. He’s accompanied on all of these endeavors by Bill, his brother whose life has become defined by his need to be Robbie’s sighted guide.

Most films are bound by a necessity for its lead characters to be depicted as likable individuals that audiences can root for. However, My Blind Brother dares not only to subvert that expectation across the board but to make perhaps its most unlikable figure the titular blind man played by Adam Scott. With her feature debut, writer/director Sophie Goodhart attempts to challenge the current politically correct social environment and, in doing so, reunites three comedic stars who have all appeared on NBC’s Parks and Recreation.
My Blind Brother – based on the 2003 short film of the same name created by Goodhart – centers on the rivalry between brothers Robbie (Scott) and Bill (Nick Kroll). After Bill shares a night of connection with a guilt-ridden woman (Jenny Slate), he is shocked to soon discover that she’s dating his blind brother instead. Think of the first word that comes to your mind when you hear the term “rom-com.” Got it? I bet it isn’t “shame.” Yet, when we spoke with Jenny Slate and Nick Kroll about their roles in Sophie Goodhart’s “My Blind Brother” (opening in select theaters today), that was one of the first words Slate used to describe the romantic dynamic between their characters.
Rose (Slate) and Bill (Kroll) are former one-night-standers who find themselves thrust back together when Rose starts dating his visually impaired brother, Robbie (Adam Scott). “They have a lot of joy and delight and they are trying to get each other’s attention, but then they’re both pushing away. It’s the regulation of that shame flow that I was interested in,” Slate said of the complicated dynamic at play.

I'm not the biggest Nick Kroll fan, but that's partially because he seems to be in the same acting mode all the time: total douche. (He plays a literal douche in Sausage Party and played a radio host character named The Douche on Parks and Recreation. It's sort of his "thing.") But this trailer for a film called My Blind Brother has him in a different gear, and considering it reunites him with two of his former Parks and Rec co-stars whom I love — Adam Scott and Jenny Slate — I think it's safe to say this won't be the same old thing from Kroll.
Sophie Goodhart directs this romantic comedy about two brothers, one of whom is blind, who fall for the same girl. It looks like a decent, lighthearted little movie, and we don't have long to wait to see if it's any good — the film arrives in theaters...

We’ve seen Adam Scott play the cocky jagoff sibling before (Step Brothers), and we’ve borne witness to Jenny Slate’s skill at playing relatably confused characters dealing with moral quandaries (Obvious Child). The trailer for My Blind Brother, though, offers a relatively new side of Nick Kroll. The comedian, whose characters usually ooze smarmy confidence, plays a likable schlub who is forever in the shadow of his over-achieving blind brother (Scott), with whom he winds up competing for the affections of the same woman (Slate). In his review of the film after viewing it at Tribeca, The A.V. Club’s Jesse Hassenger noted that “Kroll makes a surprisingly credible leading man,” even while lamenting some missed opportunities with Slate’s character.

"Honestly, who cares? I can't trust my feelings." Starz Media & Orion Pictures have released a trailer for the comedy My Blind Brother, about a romantic rivalry between two brothers. Adam Scott stars as the more handsome, athletic sibling along with Nick Kroll as his brother who has always been by his side most of his life. They both fall for the same woman, comedian powerhouse Jenny Slate, causing some chaos that leads to shenanigans which is meant to make people laugh. The cast includes Zoe Kazan, Talia Tabin and Charlie Hewson. While this doesn't look as bad as it sounds, it doesn't look that great either, with a few sparse moments of genuine comedy amidst some awkward scenes of cheesiness. At least it has Jenny Slate. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Sophie Goodhart's My Blind Brother, direct from YouTube: Bill (Nick Kroll) has always lived in the...

The first trailer has arrived for the SXSW comedy My Blind Brother, which unites Adam Scott as a blind brother to Nick Kroll, who has recently fallen for Jenny Slate, who may or may not be interested in one or either of the two. Scott is a blind athlete who is renowned for his courageous ability to fight through his disability with running, swimming, and… driving.
Kroll is overshadowed by his brother — who thanks God instead of him after a marathon he also ran — and after a one-night hookup with a girl, he may finally have something his brother doesn’t have. Then things get a bit messy. The film is written and directed by Sophie Goodhart, who is adapted from a short she did in 2003. See the trailer and a poster below for the film which also stars Zoe Kazan.

If you're still mourning the loss of Parks and Recreation from the airwaves, you may be interested in a new indie romantic comedy coming out soon called My Blind Brother. The movie reunites Adam Scott with Jenny Slate and Nick Kroll, both of whom had minor recurring parts on the sitcom. He plays a visually impaired man with a competitive edge who gets Slate's character to help him train for a swim event, and it turns out his brother (Kroll) and her had a thing. Love triangulation ensues. My Blind Brother, which also stars Zoe Kazan, premiered earlier this year at the SXSW Film Festival to positive reviews and earned the Gamechanger Award for writer-director Sophie Goodhart. The debut was particularly special since SXSW also saw the premiere of the...

Living in the shadows of your sibling can be tough, especially if he happens to be blind and better than you at everything. That seems to be the case for Nick Kroll’s character in the new trailer for the comedy “My Blind Brother.”
Directed by Sophie Goodhart, the offbeat film stars Kroll as Bill, a middle-aged manager of an Ohio copy store who’s spent the brunt of his life being second-best to his very capable blind brother, Robbie (Adam Scott). While Robbie pushes himself to compete in athletic feats, Bill is (literally) always by his side, helping him, without ever getting any of his own glory.
Things start to look up when Bill meets a charming gal, Rose (Jenny Slate), who he falls head-over-heels for. The problem is that Rose has a complicated life and unexpectedly also happens to want to help Robbie with his next charity swim competition.
