Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci have both long been friends of the LGBTQ community, as evidenced by their choices in acting roles over their wide-ranging careers. Firth came by his ally-ship very early on, starring opposite Rupert Everett in early queer classic “Another Country” in 1984, when it was still considered risky for actors to take on gay roles. He would later star in Tom Ford’s debut film “A Single Man,” for which he nabbed his first Oscar nomination. Tucci is very well known for his queer role as Nigel, indefatigable right hand man to Meryl Streep’s character in “The Devil Wears Prada.” Now, both actors will play gay yet again in “Supernova,” a tearjerker relationship drama centered around one man’s early onset dementia.

Firm handshakes and a sparkling smile aren’t the only ways to make a good impression. A fragrance can also make you more memorable, for better or for worse. Our sense of smell is processed by the olfactory bulb, located right next to the amygdala (which processes emotions) and the hippocampus (which helps form new memories). Choose the “right” one, and you’ve got a new signature scent that reminds people fondly of you. Go with one that’s too overpowering, and you risk being nicknamed Pepé Le Pew — non,...

Netflix has given a lot of titles more exposure in the last few years, with many overlooked movies receiving attention on the platform. This trend is now set to include the underrated 2016 Jake Gyllenhaal film Nocturnal Animals, which deals with the tangled relationships between an art gallery owner and a novel by her former husband Edward. Directed by Tom Ford, Nocturnal Animals was well received on its release and will no doubt pick up some new fans when it hits Netflix next month.
Adapted from Austin Wright’s 1993 book Tony and Susan, the pic frequently blurs the lines between reality and the seeming-fiction of the novel, within which Amy Adams’ Susan Morrow begins to see parallels with her first marriage. Gyllenhaal plays both Edward and Tony, the lead character in the book, who goes through a traumatic series of events involving his family. Other cast members include the likes of Armie Hammer,...

Baby Yoda aka The Child is not just a pop culture phenomenon, but now also a major awards winner: “The Mandalorian,” which put its brand-new streamer Disney Plus squarely on the Emmys’ map this year with 15 overall nominations, picked up its first statues at the Creative Arts ceremony on Wednesday night.
“The Mandalorian” picked up special visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing, production design and cinematography awards during the third of five nights designed to hand out the 72nd Annual artisans’ awards (also the first night in which scripted categories made an appearance). These five awards see the “Star Wars” universe-set drama leading the pack for the most awards from voters for the year.
HBO’s “Watchmen” and VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” have racked up the second-most awards thus far, with four apiece. “Watchmen” scored their statues all on this third night, while “Drag Race’s” wins were announced on Monday,...

New York Fashion Week is looking a little different this year. Given the global coronavirus pandemic, some designers, such as Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs, have opted out of presenting this week. Others, however, have decided that the show must go on one way or another. Tom Ford and Alice + Olivia, for instance, are solely live-streaming their collections while Jason Wu and Rebecca Minkoff are also hosting in-person events in strict compliance with the state's health and safety guidelines. Carolina Herrera has chosen to release a short film, as well. New York Fashion Week for the Spring-Summer 2021 season officially begins Sept. 13, with shows running until Sept. 17. So, there's no...

Exclusive: Top Gear’s latest American incarnation has safely wrapped production ahead of its debut on Discovery’s MotorTrend.
Deadline understands that the show, which is based on the long-running British format, finished filming its debut season at the end of August after shooting over the summer.
The show, which is produced by BBC Studios’ Los Angeles production division, managed this by driving off with a slew of Covid-friendly protocols.
It comes as the show was originally intended to air in the spring, having been unveiled by Discovery’s motoring streamer at the end of last year.
The show filmed primarily in remote areas in the western half of the country, and to avoid potential travel exposure from commercial flights, the series only filmed at locations that were drivable by car from Southern California.

Dylan McDermott has been busy during quarantine. When he’s not hanging out with his kids — like watching “The Umbrella Academy” with his 14-year-old daughter Charlotte — he has been working on a memoir.
“It changed me actually,” McDermott, 58, says on Tuesday’s episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket.” “So I’m really happy I did it. I don’t know what I’ll do with it. But I’m really happy because I needed to write it.”
McDermott says the book covers his life from around age four to 23. He was raised between Connecticut with his grandmother and his father in New York City and stepmother, playwright Eve Ensler, after his mother was fatally shot by her boyfriend in 1967. McDermott was only five years old at the time.

An industry as overtly image-based as fashion design is always going to produce instantly recognizable stars. But as proven by Reiner Holzemer’s intelligent, enjoyable if uncritical “Martin Margiela: In His Own Words,” in those cases, the figure of the designer can eclipse the design. Think of Vivienne Westwood, and we think of her Elizabeth-i-safety-pinned-to-Sid-Vicious vibe; of Tom Ford and it’s how his immaculate stubble often outguns his doubtless terrifyingly suave suit. But Martin Margiela, whose legacy, the film will convince you, is next to unparalleled, has never publicly shown his face. It gives Holzemer’s talking-head-based approach its most inspired creative limitation.
After an apprenticeship with Jean Paul Gaultier in the late ’80s, the Belgian-born Margiela co-founded his atelier, Maison Martin Margiela, in 1988 with business partner Jenny Meirens. Very quickly, their controversial shows, staged in parking lots, under bridges and in Salvation Army stores, showcasing Margiela’s brilliantly eccentric design ethos,...

I’m Nathan Favel and we have…Jake Roberts says that Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were just fighting over Sunny the whole time, but how would a crack-head know anything besides where to get the good s—? It’s funny to listen to these old bastards pick on the more successful guys and critique how they didn’t “draw money”, when there are so many factors in place that prevent even the biggest stars from actually drawing money. Nxt UK has a few stars in it, but doesn’t seem to be doing well enough as a brand all its own. Is it the wrestlers’ fault that Nxt UK isn’t raking in millions a week? I’d argue that no name could ever turn this into a league all its own, because this is just a...

Quentin Tarantino’s earliest memory of Los Angeles was as a young boy visiting Grauman’s Chinese Theater, standing in the courtyard and looking at the handprints of John Wayne and Roy Rogers. He recollects the Mold-a-Rama machine outside that dispensed a souvenir wax pagoda if you inserted a quarter.
The director had toyed with re-creating that memory as the opening to his Oscar-nominated “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” He went so far as to have Barbara Ling, his production designer, track down the makers of the machine, but the idea never materialized. Instead, the film opens with black-and-white newsreel footage of Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), setting the scene for their coming exploits. But Tarantino has the machine: “It sits in my garage,” he chuckles as he lounges across the table from Ling and the film’s costume designer, Arianne Phillips...

Gwyneth Paltrow has a lot on her plate these days. She’s an Oscar-winning actor, mother, businesswoman and produces a line of candles that smell like her vagina. Even so, for someone who’s appeared in multiple McU movies over the last ten years, you’d think she would remember them a bit better. Last summer she forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming, she couldn’t remember who Sebastian Stan was, forgot that Samuel L. Jackson was a big player in the McU and, despite having quite a sizeable role in it, didn’t see Avengers: Endgame.
That forgetful streak has now continued at the recent Critics’ Choice Awards. Paltrow recently turned heads on the front of Harper’s Bazaar when she wore an honestly pretty damn cool sculpted chest piece by Tom Ford (which reminded me quite a bit of her Rescue armor from Endgame). Zendaya then turned up at...

I hate to sound biased, but no one is doing it like Zendaya on the red carpet. On Sunday night, the Euphoria star showed up at the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards and reminded us that she's a multi-hyphenate threat for a reason! From the top of her gorgeous waist-length braids to the hem of her pink skirt, Zendaya gave us the Pink Power Ranger and TLC's "No Scrubs" vibes that we didn't even know we needed. It was a huge night for the 23-year-old actress, as she was nominated for best actress in a drama for her heartbreaking role as Rue Bennett. Keep reading to see photos from her night out.

Twinning! Zendaya and Gwyneth Paltrow have something super glamorous in common. On Sunday, the Euphoria star donned a fuchsia molded Tom Ford crop top to the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series. She paired the asymmetrical armor-like piece with a maxi skirt to bring the perfect amount of edge and elegance to the carpet. Look familiar? That's because Gwyneth also rocked the shielded top on her February 2020 Harper's Bazaar cover. Excited to see that she and the Disney alum share the same taste, Gwyneth took to Instagram to give her a shout-out. Leaving a comment on a photo of Zendaya from the Critics' Choice red carpet, the Goop founder...

Well folks “Euphoria’s” Zendaya has done it again! The starlet, who gained critical acclaim on her HBO series, turned heads and dropped jaws in her stunning pink Tom Ford number on the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards blue carpet. But that wasn’t the only major fashion moment happening at the award ceremony, Billy Porter raised the bar, yet again, in a glamours two-tone green frock (and we beg you not to sleep on the nails/ring combo also happening on Porter’s pointers and the butterfly-kissed shoulders).
Additional trends storming the 25th Critics’ Choice Awards included plenty of pant. The pant suit/pant jumper is far from having a moment, it’s getting a whole year thanks to Mandy Moore from “This Is Us,” “Kristen Bell” from “The Good Place,” Wanda Sykes and Annie Murphy from “Schitt’s Creek.” These looks commanded a high kick of appreciation.

Making a state-mint! The 2020 Critics' Choice Awards have officially kicked off, and Hollywood's latest and greatest are gracing the red carpet in fiery ensembles that are worthy of their own award. While Zendaya blew us out of the water with her hot pink galactic glam Tom Ford look and Mandy Moore stunned us with her posh Ellie Saab black jumpsuit, there were other color palettes that reigned supreme at tonight's red carpet. It's safe to say Hollywood's biggest television and movie stars did not come to play tonight and were ready to give it their all when it came down to slaying the red carpet and a lot of these looks made us green with envy that...

Now this is what they call fashion forward. Zendaya sported a futuristic, galactic look that was part sexy alien, part I Dream of Jeannie at the 2010 Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday. The 23-year-old actress, known for her avant-garde red carpet styles, wore a sleeveless, high neck, asymmetrical vinyl fuchsia crop top over a fuchsia harem maxi skirt, and her hair styled in braids. Her outfit is from Tom Ford's spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection. Gwyneth Paltrow wears the same top on the cover of Harper's Bazaar's February 2020 issue. This is not the first time Zendaya has turned heads on the red carpet...or appeared to pay tribute to a popular pop culture...

On the bright side, Cats didn’t win anything. But Ricky Gervais kept coughing up hairballs all night. The host’s shtick at the 2020 Golden Globes felt incredibly stale, which might be one reason the stars were hitting the champagne harder than usual. The celebrity speeches got loopier as the night went on, on a scale of one to Joaquin. Olivia Colman summed up the mood when she accepted her Best Actress trophy for The Crown. “I don’t know what to say,” she announced. “I already got a little bit boozy.

Aaron, 29, and Sam Taylor-Johnson, 52, are no strangers to working together, having met making Sam’s directorial debut Nowhere Boy in 2009 — but adapting James Frey’s controversial 2003 book A Million Little Pieces marked challenging new territory for the married couple.
The film adaptation of Frey’s addiction memoir, which he later admitted to partly fabricating, sees Aaron go to some very dark places to play a young drug-addled writer as he undergoes a grueling two-month detox program.
Below are excepts from People’s conversation with the pair, who wed in 2012 and have two daughters together now, in addition to two from Sam’s previous marriage.

Few shows in recent history have received as much attention simply for the clothes as “Succession.” The costuming on the show is indulgent, and impeccable; it arguably plays as big a role as the actors. Entire articles have been written about Shiv’s backless turtleneck — her clothes and her hair. The men on the show are no exception; each and every one of them is meticulously tailored and styled to tell us exactly who he is, and exactly who he wants to be. They are the perfect illustration of the immense precision, balance, and awareness of self that goes into being a well-dressed man; how everything from the width of a man’s tie knot to the cut of his jacket can make a critical difference in how he is seen.

Arianne Phillips is an Academy Awards contender this year for her period work as the costume designer on Quentin Tarantino’s 1969-set love letter to the Tinseltown of yore, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” She’s been twice-nominated before, for her work on Madonna’s “W.E.” and James Mangold’s “Walk the Line,” and has worked with other auteurs from Miloš Forman to Tom Ford.
But as revealed during a recent panel at the Key West Film Festival, moderated by IndieWire Executive Editor and Chief Film Critic Eric Kohn, being a costume designer hasn’t always been an easy ride. During the conversation, Phillips pointed out a below-the-line pay disparity that affects her behind-the-scenes craft — a trend she’s looking to change.
“Costume designers are not considered a creative position in the film industry. We’re considered a ‘technical’ position, and we’re fighting that right now,” she said.

Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio rave about “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” costume designer Arianne Phillips in a new featurette obtained exclusively by Variety.
