Regardless of whether you loved or hated Justice League, we’re all aware of how a fair amount of footage was left on the cutting room floor. Perhaps it was either stuff that was shot by Zack Snyder that Warner Bros. didn’t want to use or, maybe, it just didn’t gel with the final cut; the latter happens all the time in the film industry. Still, there was one omission that remains a hot topic for discussion, that being Superman’s black costume.
For well over a year, many of us who were familiar with the source material expected to see the Last Son of Krypton don some darker threads upon his resurrection, just as he did in the comics. But, in Justice League‘s theatrical cut, the closest we’d gotten to that was him wearing some black slacks.

If I’ve learned anything in this life, it’s that those sitting at the top of the film industry – or any other, for that matter – will never, ever take responsibility for anything, and will instead deflect the blame onto others. Heck, after the abomination that was 2004’s Catwoman failed on every possible level, did you think any suits were heard to say, “we f—ed up, this movie was terrible,” or, was it more likely they said, “there’s obviously no public interest in this character”? You be the judge.
Anyway, I want you to keep that in the back of your mind because, as we know, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes at Warner Bros. due to Justice League not meeting financial expectations and the shortcomings of the DC Extended Universe (Dceu) as a whole. In fact, recent shakeups occurred, with Geoff Johns and Jon Berg...

While Justice League appears to have generated some disappointment at the box office, there’s no shortage of additional material accompanying the theatrical release. One such item is Justice League: The Official Collector’s Edition book, which contains a range of interviews and behind the scenes information.
In it, Superman actor Henry Cavill answers the question of whether he spent much time researching the source material before shooting the movie. Apparently, he did, and he looked to Rebirth for inspiration.
“I do indeed — especially with Rebirth, which has just come out. I’ve been really diving into that. It’s fun to see where the DC Comics Universe is going, and to see how closely our movie universe is matching it.”
This raises an interesting point. Justice League is certainly not a faithful adaptation of any single comic book story, but rather is something of a collection of plot...

Even for those of us who enjoyed the cut of Justice League that was seen in theaters, it’s impossible to deny that it was very much the product of two directors, those being Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon. Furthermore, if you’re someone who’d been keeping up with the strange ballad that was this film’s production, you’re well aware of how it underwent three months of reshoots that significantly factored into the final product.
Actually, there are many of you out there who couldn’t help but notice how much of what Snyder shot wasn’t seen in cinemas, with word on the street saying there’s enough footage to warrant another movie. As such, fan demand in seeing Snyder’s cut has considerably risen, with cinematographer Fabian Wagner also sharing that sentiment.

You’re not the only one crossing your fingers in the hope that Warner Bros. will release a director’s cut of Justice League.
Fabian Wagner, cinematographer on the pic and one of the DPs currently working on Game of Thrones season 8, has encouraged WB to dive through the archives and piece together all of those scenes that were allegedly left on the cutting room floor. Indeed, one need only look over Justice League‘s trailer campaign to identify all those shots that didn’t make the final cut.
Rumor has it that Warner imposed a two-hour mandate on Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s blockbuster, which goes some way to explaining the truncated runtime – at only 119 minutes in length, Justice League is undoubtedly one of the shortest superhero films in recent memory. Hell, it even took Wagner by surprise:

For those of us who enjoyed Justice League, one of the major talking points we’ve been discussing since leaving theaters has been that of the return of Superman. After all, the “truth and justice” schtick that we’ve come to love finally reared its head in the DC Extended Universe, offering a sense of hope that some felt it lacked. And even though the Man of Steel was absent from a fair amount of the film’s marketing, the more diehard fans among us knew that his resurrection was to be expected.
One such unfortunate omission was in what happened to be the favorite poster of many, that being the one that channeled the photo-realistic artwork of comic book legend Alex Ross. Having been been plastered all over social media and proudly on display at movie theaters the world over, the group shot we’ve come to enjoy included the likes of Batman,...

Indeed, soon after clinching the role of DC’s Scarlett Speedster, Grant Morrison was on hand to educate Miller on what makes Barry Allen tick, not to mention the constant moral struggle that often defines the character.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the Marvel comic world lately, Steve Rogers has been, well, less than a good guy. He’s been acting a lot like the thing he swore to battle than the symbol of freedom. He tricked all the other heroes into either being locked out of planet earth without the key, or inside of New York City without a key, or just running in fear. But it looks like the cap who stands for the right is returning to his anti-Hydra days.

Now that it feels like we’re finally within reaching distance of Justice League‘s theatrical release, it’s about that time for various forms of memorabilia to start flooding stores. Whether it be action figures, premium collectibles, coffee mugs or beach towels, odds are there’ll be something for everybody sporting DC’s premier team of superheroes, no matter what their price range may be.
Among the most accessible, easiest to afford and most widely purchased will no doubt be that of posters. To date, we’ve seen various ones of the theatrical and promotional variety creep their way online, most recently with a Lego-inspired take and another that channeled a classic piece by fan favorite artist Alex Ross.
And while you may be able to get your hands on some of those in stores or via online retailers, there’ll undoubtedly be some created especially for rabid consumers.

After a bit of a mixed year for them (Wonder Woman was a huge success, but behind-the-scenes drama seems to be plaguing their productions), they could use a successful Hall H panel to show that they have more going on than another solid Wonder Woman movie.

Marvel Comics' "Marvel Legacy" #1, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Esaid Ribi, with a cover by Alex Ross, is set in 1.000,000 BC, introducing superhero characters that formed the 'Marvel Universe':
"'Marvel Legacy' #1 isn't simply a history lesson," said editor Tom Brevoort. "Rather, it's the starting gun to a bevy of mysteries, secrets and revelations that will reverberate across the 'Marvel Universe'...No character, no franchise will be untouched by the game-changing events that play out across its pages..."
"'Marvel Legacy' #1 will present all fans, new readers and current readers, the very best jumping on point in the history of comics," said Axel Alonso, Marvel's editor-in-chief. "What Jason and Esad have crafted is more grand and more gargantuan than anything we have ever seen before and introduces concepts and characters the 'Marvel Universe' has never encountered.
"Fans are going to witness an all-new look at the 'Marvel Universe' starting at one of the earliest moments in time carried all the way into present day. Not only will this be the catalyst for Marvel evolving and moving forward, but expect it to be the spark that will ignite the industry as a whole..."

If anything, September will be an important month for Marvel because, if all goes according to plan, they’ll be just about ready to put their currently in progress crossover event, Secret Empire, behind them and poised to move forward with whatever their next major initiative may be. And while we haven’t been in contact with any flies on the walls over at the House of Ideas, we’re pretty sure the Marvel Legacy one-shot is the vanguard.
First, let’s talk a bit about Secret Empire because that seems like the logical thing to do. Not long ago, it was revealed that a tenth issue would be added to the limited series, something not unheard of when it comes to major events – especially those from Marvel. And although this would seem like a definitive end to the story, there where rumors swirling that an eleventh wasn’t out of the question.
From what we can tell, that’s not going to happen, but an epilogue of sorts in Secret Empire Omega #1 has been announced. Upon examining the solicitation below, it quickly becomes apparent that this will likely be an essential read given that it retains the very same creative team that worked on the mainline series itself.

Secret Empire Aftermath!
• Hydra has fallen, but the world is still not secure! As the heroes of the Marvel Universe stir from the wreckage of the battlefield, the inevitable rebuilding must begin.
• However, one question hangs in the air over the proceedings: What redemption can there be for Captain America?
40 Pgs./Rated T+ …$4.99
Should that meet its targeted September release – which may be a feat, especially when you consider that Secret Empire #6 has been delayed until July 19 – that’ll smoothly transition into the all important Marvel Legacy #1 (solicitation below). So, if the publisher does allow it to ship before Secret Empire concludes, we can only hope that it doesn’t completely spoil the crossover’s ending. But, then again, let’s not forget this is the same lot that released Who Will Wield The Shield? before Captain America: Reborn wrapped.

Having recently learned that the sixth issue will experience a minor delay, we turn our attention toward some breaking news concerning Marvel’s currently unfolding event series, Secret Empire, specifically the tenth issue that was confirmed as being added not long ago.
You see, Marvel PR just sent out a newly unveiled cover for Secret Empire #10 that, quite obviously, bears a striking resemblance to that of Alex Ross’ promo artwork for Generations, a series of one-shots to be released in the near future that feature various versions of heroes teaming up for reasons unknown, with Thor Odinson and Jane Foster serving as examples, much like Wolverines Laura Kinney and Logan.
Putting two and two together, we can’t help but think these two books that previously seemed to be unrelated will lead into this fall’s Marvel Legacy one-shot that’s said to return many titles starring the House of...

Superman was not my first.
Yes, I know, I have been adamant in my assertions that I loved superhero comics from the time I was five years old. And that is true. But before I started to read Superman in the comics, before I even saw him on my black-and-white television set, I fell for another. Hard.
And now, Mighty Mouse is coming back to comics.
It is difficult to put into words how much Mighty Mouse meant to me. It didn’t matter that the character was male, and a rodent. I totally identified. Perhaps it helped that I was three years old, and I thought that jumping on my bed and singing the theme song was essentially the same as fighting the bad guys.
There have been Mighty Mouse revivals in the past, most notably by Ralph Bakshi in the Reagan years. It was fun at times, and...

Who doesn’t love his work, am I right?
Anyway, the House of Ideas have finally pulled back the curtain on the project that will – get this – unite those who have taken up the guise of various heroes both past and present, just as the artwork hinted. I know, it all seems a bit confusing and will likely remain that way until this 10-issue series hits stands this July.
As of now, we know which heroes will join forces, along with the writers who will craft these stories. Artists have still yet to be named, but here’s the list made available:

Before James Gunn brought the Guardians of the Galaxy into the public eye with his Marvel Studios movie in 2014, those characters were pretty damn obscure — even for long-time comic book lovers. I'll be real: I hadn't heard of them before the movie was announced, and if you're anything like me, you haven't exactly had an abundance of time on your hands to sift through fifty years of comics to try to learn all about the team's history on the page. Good news: a new book called Guardians of the Galaxy: Creating Marvel's Spacefaring Super Heroes has already done all the work, and presents it all in a beautifully effective manner.
Did you know that zero members of what we know today as the Guardians' core team — Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot — made their comics debut in the pages of a Guardians comic book? This book taught me...

Marvel‘s comic book sales have been plummeting for a while now, and the blame can probably be pinned on two things. Endless new #1 issues are part of the problem, and so too is the decision to replace classic characters with new versions. For example, Amadeus Cho is currently The Hulk, while Jane Foster is Thor and X-23 is Wolverine.
Could that all be about to change, though? Painted by Alex Ross, the gorgeous teaser image below was released earlier today, accompanied only by the word “Generations.” This could be an indication that the company is going to bring back some fan favourite heroes which will see the Marvel Universe return to something closer to its older self, which would certainly please fans.
From left to right, we see both the original and modern versions of Jean Grey, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America, Nova, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man,...
