Our own Tyler Nichols gave the Frankenstein-inspired horror film Birth/Rebirth a 9/10 review after catching a Sundance screening earlier this year (you can read his review Here), and now a wider audience will have the chance to see it when it receives a theatrical release on August 18th. With that date just one month away, a trailer for Birth/Rebirth has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Birth/Rebirth is coming to us from IFC Films and Shudder, so we can probably expect to see the movie reach the Shudder streaming service sometime in the near future.
Judy Reyes of Scrubs stars in the film alongside Marin Ireland of The Umbrella Academy and Aj Lister of Challengers. The feature debut of director Laura Moss, who also wrote the screenplay with Brendan J. O’Brien, Birth/Rebirth has the following synopsis: Rose (Marin Ireland) is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction.

Coming to theaters from IFC Films and Shudder on August 18th, we have a look at the new trailer and poster for Laura Moss' birth/rebirth, starring Marin Ireland and Judy Reyes!
"Rose (Marin Ireland) is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction. She also has an obsession — the reanimation of the dead. Celie (Judy Reyes) is a maternity nurse who has built her life around her bouncy, chatterbox six-year-old daughter, Lila (A.J. Lister). When one tragic night, Lila suddenly falls ill and dies, the two women's worlds crash into each other. They embark on a dark path of no return where they will be forced to confront how far they are willing to go to protect what they hold most dear.
This standout directorial debut from Laura Moss reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic horror myth Frankenstein with such a contemporary understanding that it becomes something exciting,...

The Power Universe loves to occasionally sprinkle in Easter eggs, and in the fourth episode of "Power Book II: Ghost"'s third season, longtime "Power" viewers spotted a familiar face - someone who could become a game changer later in the series.
In the episode, titled "The Land of Opportunity," we meet a DEA agent named Angel "Junior" Young (Kevin Rodriguez), who's aiding Detective Blanca's (Monique Gabriela Curnen) latest investigation. The two are shown at a crime-scene aftermath of a motel shootout between the Tejada clan - Lorenzo (Berto Colon), Cane (Woody McClain), and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) - and some arms dealers, one of whom happens to be a criminal informant for Blanca. Junior makes a brief appearance as he explains to Blanca that her C.I. has been shot and transported to a hospital and is in critical condition. Junior's small scene may seem insignificant, but it could...

Another week, another major player on "Power Book II: Ghost" meets a tragic fate - though many viewers probably saw this one coming. This time, the hit "Power" spinoff bid farewell to the nuisance that is Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hephner) after he overstepped his boundaries one too many times with Monet (Mary J. Blige).
Ever since the death of Monet's nephew son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy), Whitman has been hot on her tracks trying to pin a murder on her that he thinks she committed, aka Carrie Milgram's (which she committed for sleeping around with Zeke). Note: Carrie and Whitman have history together, too. Whitman, a too-dedicated-to-his-job detective, has also been working with federal prosecutor Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) and Detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) to aid their Rico case that could get Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), Brayden (Gianni Paolo), and the Tejadas - Cane (Woody McClain), Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray...

Keke Travis (Moriah Brown) as a VP at Weston Holdings, the company helmed by Brayden Weston’s (Gianni Paolo) family. Brayden has had some rocky romantic relationships in the past. He’s always found women that have only wanted to get close to him to get to Tariq or to learn about the business. Paolo wants to see Brayden enter a real relationship in season 3.

The third season premiere of Power Book II: Ghost drew the biggest opening weekend audience ever for a Starz series, the premium cable outlet says.
The show’s March 17 debut brought in 5.8 million viewers across all platforms over its first three days, according to Nielsen and internal data. That makes it the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Starz original series.
Though Starz didn’t break down viewers by platform, based on viewing patterns for other premium series, a large majority of the audience likely streamed the Ghost premiere. The show’s on-air premiere brought in 362,000 viewers, per Nielsen — just 6 percent of the three-day total. That’s in keeping with shows like HBO’s Euphoria, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, and Starz’s own P-Valley, whose initial, on-air viewership makes up just a small fraction of the total.
The 5.8 million viewers also includes multiple replays on the Starz cable channel over the weekend.

Prior to the launch of Season 3, Starz signaled its confidence in the series with an early renewal for a fourth installment. Season 4 is currently in production in New York.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from the Season 3 premiere of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
Power Book II: Ghost dropped its third season premiere on Friday titled “Your Perception, Your Reality” and as expected, it’s filled with sadness and frustration following the tragic events of last season.
Monet (Mary J. Blige) is really going through it following the murder of her son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy). She’s lost her way and healing can only begin by her avenging his death—an eye for an eye. Being that her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) shot down Zeke accidentally in a case of mistaken identity, things are plenty complicated.
In the meantime, Monet is so enveloped in grief that she neither notices the internal struggle going on in the family nor that there’s a new baddie in town named Noma (Caroline Chikezie) who is searching for...

Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 is poised to be the most dramatic season in franchise history.
Starz dropped the full-length trailer for the new season Thursday, and it looks like things are more intense than ever.
According to Starz, the new season kicks off with Tariq St. Patrick determined to get his trust, get back to his family, and get out of the game for good.
The emergence of a ruthless new connect interrupts Tariq’s plans to reunite with Tasha and Yaz and puts him, Brayden, and Effie back into business with the Tejadas as they’re challenged to move more weight than ever before.
When Brayden brings Tariq in as an intern at his family’s hedge fund Weston Holdings, the drug business expands beyond Stansfield and the streets onto Wall Street, while Tariq is also shown an alternate, legitimate path to success.

Hulu’s upcoming six-part limited docu-series “The 1619 Project” will launch Jan. 26, Disney’s Onyx Collective announced on Thursday. The series is an expansion of the project of the same name from journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones and The New York Times Magazine.
Hosted by Hannah-Jones, “The 1619 Project” seeks to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the very center of our national narrative. The episodes — “Democracy,” “Race,” “Music,” “Capitalism,” “Fear” and “Justice” — are adapted from essays of Hannah-Jones “The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story” and examine how the legacy of slavery shapes different aspects of contemporary American life.
“1619” is a Lionsgate Production in association with One Story Up Productions, Harpo Films and The New York Times. It was executive produced by Hannah-Jones, director Roger Ross Williams, editor Caitlin Roper, Kathleen Lingo, The New York Times’ editorial director for film and television and Oprah Winfrey.

Good news, "Power Book II: Ghost" fans. After what feels like forever, the hit spinoff's third season finally has a premiere date - which means we're one step closer to finding out what happens after season two's dramatic cliffhanger finale. Additionally, on Dec. 15, Starz unveiled all-new details about season three, including a short teaser that shows Michael Rainey Jr.'s Tariq getting blood on his hands (literally) as secrets, lies, and more trouble threaten to shake his world up yet again.
"Power Book II: Ghost" got the green light for season three around this time last year, not even halfway through season two. It's obvious the second installment of the Power franchise has become a major hit, almost as big as its predecessor, and much of that has to do with Michael Rainey Jr.'s Tariq St. Patrick anchoring the series.

Genre movies based in the home usually take one of a few routes. They can be a haunted house tale, they can be a home invasion movie or they can be something else. Anyone Home? sits nicely in that ‘something else’ category.
It centres on a single mum, Camila (Monique Gabriela Curnen), who is struggling financially and mentally while bringing up her son. She thinks her luck has changed though when she gets a job house-sitting a model home. All she has to do is decorate the house to look good for when would be buyers look round. But it doesn’t take too long for even that to be too much for her.

We get it, Blanca. It happens. You enter Starz’s Power as a do-right, stand-up law enforcement official focused on getting the bad guys. But pretty soon “nabbing the criminals” turns into “nabbing the criminals at any cost,” and isn’t the outcome all about the greater good, anyway?

The hit Starz series “Power” is coming to an end. The upcoming sixth season of the series, which is set to debut on Aug. 25, will be the drama’s last.
Series creator and co-showrunner Courtney A. Kemp teased that new shows set in the “Power” universe are in the works.
“We will follow some of your beloved ‘Power’ characters beyond the scope of the initial series,” Kemp said in a statement. “But we will play with your expectations of which characters, where, and the master timeline of it all, creating a ‘Power’ universe as unpredictable as the original.”
Season 6 will consist of 15 episodes. It will also feature the directorial debut of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson with episode 603 as well as the return of director Anthony Hemingway for the finale. Hemingway previously directed the first two episodes of the series when it debuted in 2014.

NBC has canceled drama “Taken.” The series is being shopped elsewhere as producers produced by EuropaCorp TV USA and Universal Television seek a new U.S. platform for the series, whose title has strong international brand recognition.
The series serves as a prequel to the hit action film franchise of the same name that starred Liam Neeson, with “Vikings” star Clive Standen taking over the role of former Green Beret Bryan Mills. After a personal tragedy leaves him badly shaken, Mills is recruited by the CIA, with each mission helping him build up the “very particular set of skills” that enthralled fans of the film series.
NBC moved “Taken” from its Friday perch in April, shifting the drama to Saturdays.
After the show was renewed for a second season, showrunner Alexander Cary departed with Greg Plageman taking over. Shortly thereafter, cast members Gaius Charles, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Michael Irby,...
