It’s been six years since the California stoner rock band released their last LP, Era Vulgaris. Suffice to say, it wasn’t their best effort and instability in the band at the time (and since) has proven to be a large obstacle for Queens of the Stone Age.
It even required the band asking Josh Homme to come back and record after knee surgery that left him bedridden for a few months. After apparently experiencing death momentarily he must have had some sort of refreshing epiphany that made him write some brilliant new music. And that’s the background for their latest album, …Like Clockwork.
Extremely catchy and original guitar riffs show that the band are back on top form and Homme’s lyrics are brilliantly put across by his trembling baritone vocals. Every song clearly has input from each member of the band, including the subtle keyboard from Dean Fertita.

The Queens of the Stone Age offered up a bold performance at Lollapalooza Brazil and debuted a brand-new song as well. "My God Is the Sun," an aggressive rock track that features the band's new drummer, John Theodore (formerly of the Mars Volta).
Dave Grohl actually replaced the band's previous drummer, Joey Castillo, in recording sessions for the Queens' upcoming album, "... Like Clockwork," but Theodore will play during the group's tour. The record is due out in June on Matador.
NME notes that Saturday's gig was the band's first since 2011. Queens of the Stone Age is fronted by Josh Homme and was formed in 1996 as Gamma Ray.

Queens Of The Stone Age have announced a new record. … Like Clockwork is due out sometime in June, is the follow-up to 2007’s Era Vulgaris, and promises to be full of top-notch guest appearances. Dave Grohl returns to drum (replacing former Queen Joey Castillo), while Trent Reznor, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, and Elton John all pop up on various tracks for various reasons. The band has been dishing out details through letters to UK music magazines like Kerrang!, Uncut, and Mojo. In a recent letter to Kerrang!, for example, the band described the record as a “real-time document of ...

Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears has tweeted a photo of himself and Queens of the Stone Age. The picture has led to rumours that Shears is working with the group. It is unknown whether Shears will be working with the band on their new album or if it is an entirely new project. The group have confirmed some artists who will be collaborating with them on their new LP. They have had recording sessions with Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, who is playing drums on the album after Joey Castillo left the band. Queens (more)...

Queens Of The Stone Age have explained their new album sounds like "running through a dream". Josh Homme has been working on the follow-up to 2007's Era Vulgaris with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums, after Joey Castillo left the band. "I think this record is a little more lyrically vulnerable, but I also think it's sort of musically deeper and richer, and it's a little bit stranger," Homme told Zane Lowe's Radio 1 (more)...

Queens of the Stone Age haven't put out a new full-length effort in more than five years, but when they release their next in 2013, they'll have some pretty big names attached: Trent Reznor and Dave Grohl are both confirmed to be contributing to the as-yet-untitled effort. Qotsa mainstay Josh Homme told BBC Radio 1 last week that drummer Joey Castillo was out and that the Foo Fighters frontman Grohl was in. The drummer and singer-songwriter was behind the kit on Qotsa's 2002 breakout album "Songs for the Deaf" but, in the revolving door nature of the band, went off to...

Dave Grohl is to drum on the new Queens of the Stone Age album, it has been revealed.
