"Vanderpump Rules" star Tom Sandoval got a sweet bump in salary, but tried to cut his old agent out of the equation ... according to docs filed by the agent. Peter Young, the owner of Stg talent agency, says he helped Tom land a 5 year contract with "Vanderpump Rules" -- but he was hardly breaking the bank. If there is one movie, Disney would like to delete from its animation library, it’s The Black Cauldron. What began as another feather in their animation cap became a perfect storm of misfortune that lead to a box office bomb that put Disney on the edge of disaster. They waited 13 years before releasing the film on VHS, and only because enough fans requested the film be made available. Although The Black Cauldron isn’t considered a Disney classic, it has established itself as a cult classic.

Battle to hold onto rights
The unexpected entry of stand-in Australian cricket captain George Bailey into Channel Nine’s attempts to hold onto the Australian broadcasting rights has underlined the network faces its toughest battle to regain them after three decades.
Bailey went on the offensive yesterday after Nine’s head of sport Steve Crawley complained about Cricket Australia’s decision to rest batting powerhouse Dave Warner, captain Michael Clarke and dropping Mike Hussey altogether – saying viewers wanted to see them in action.
Bailey took the extraordinary step – for a player – to say Crawley’s comments were an attempt to drive down the price of the next five year’s worth of broadcasting rights being negotiated at the moment.
His attack follows predatory comments by the Ten Network’s chief operating officer Jon Marquard last month that over the first half of this year Ten will vigorously pursue the rights...

Dear Mr Pfeiffer,
I'll have to disagree with a major point about your review of 'Tora Tora Tora'; namely the Zanucks refused to use major stars. The Zanucks and the unknown but influential Elmo Williams were stung by the critics going after 'The Longest Day' because of all the big stars. Zanuck Sr had to fill 'The Longest Day' full of major stars to guarantee big box office for the shareholders for the increasing budget of Tld. I read he nearly was going to drop the project until United Artists made a large scale offer for the rights to the film. Mr Z realised that if UA was going to pay a huge amount the film would gain at least twice that at the box office and went back to it.
Instead Tora used experienced character actors, many very well known (Joseph Cotton, James Whitmore etc). I had recently...

Chicago – As far as kiddie tearjerkers go, “The Fox and the Hound” is one of Disney’s finest. It’s not a great film, and certainly not in the same league as the watershed game-changers that came before or the renaissance masterworks that followed. But it is a tender and bittersweet fable with a message of refreshing complexity. At its heart is a friendship that society has deemed unsustainable, and the film doesn’t shy away from its troubling repercussions.
Based on the novel by Daniel Mannix, this 1981 effort functioned as a crucial turning point in the history of Disney studios, when veteran animators like Wolfgang Reitherman were replaced by a slate of new talent including Ron Clements and John Musker (future co-directors of “The Little Mermaid”). Creative differences intensified between the old guard and the rookies, many of whom found the project to be distressingly bland. This caused the...

Foy first told us about Jeffery Lando's House of Bones, in which the lovely Charisma Carpenter plays a ghost hunter, back in December of 2008, and finally this weekend it debuts on Syfy. In addition, the indie filmmaker who hails from Vancouver has two other Canadian premieres happening within the next few days.
But first here's what Lando has to say about House of Bones:
"[It's] a fun horror film where the cast and crew of a Ghost Hunter reality show get trapped in a house that really Is haunted. This is the movie I directed in Louisiana a year ago with a gang of wildmen genre filmmakers from La. It begins airing this Saturday (the 16th) at 9 Pm (8 Central)." Here's a sneak peek courtesy of Syfy:
Next, screenwriter Kevin Mosley set up a benefit screening of Lando's feature debut, Savage Island (starring Don S. Davis, Winston Rekert, Brendan Beiser, Kristina Copeland), for this coming Tuesday,...
