In 1971, when he was 29 years old, Wynn was diagnosed with retinitis
pigmentosa, an incurable, inherited disease that causes its victims to
gradually go blind. He founded, in his father's memory, the Michael M.
Wynn Center for Inherited Retinal Diseases at the John Moran Eye Center
at the University of Utah.
