Kevin Spacey — who has been notoriously protective over keeping his private life a secret — came out as gay Sunday after actor Anthony Rapp accused the House of Cards star of inappropriate sexual advances when he was 14 years old.
Rapp, now 46, alleged that then-26-year-old Spacey invited him to his Manhattan apartment for a party in 1986. (They were both starring in hit Broadway plays at the time.) Rapp says he was the only teen at the party and spent most of the evening in a bedroom watching television. After the party ended, he said, Spacey came into the room, picked him...

Julia Ducournau's Raw arrives in UK cinemas - and here's our review...
Raw is the story of a young woman learning things about herself, her family, her sexuality, veterinarianism and the procurement of human flesh for her own consumption and satiation.
See related Better Call Saul season 3: new clip teases returning character Better Call Saul season 2 episode 10 review: Klick The subtle rise of good prequels
Despite the visceral, sensational and exploitable qualities of the subject, there are surprisingly few movies about cannibalism. I'm sure the film industry, not to mention the voracious appetites of the horror audience, could take a whole lot more.
Nonetheless, I did still manage to come out of Julia Ducournau's Raw thinking, and being disappointed to think, that much of what I had just seen seemed overly familiar. In at least the broader narrative strokes, as outlined in above, there wasn't really anything...

France has a rich history of horror. There’s the sadomasochistic novels of the Marquis de Sade as well as the blood and guts of Grand Guignol theatre. In cinema, the horror lineage runs deep. There’s Georges Méliès’ shorts and trick films (The Haunted Castle [1896], The Four Troublesome Heads [1898]); the eye-slicing of Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel’s Un chien andalou (1929); Georges Franju’s nauseating documentary on slaughterhouses, Blood of the Beasts (1949), as well as his clinical and poetic Eyes Without a Face (1960); there’s Henri-Georges Clouzot’s nasty Diabolique (1955); and the rotting poetry of Jean Rollin’s collective work. Flash forward a few decades, to the mid-1990s and 2000s, where we find the intense and brutal "New French Extremity" films by Philippe Grandrieux, Bruno Dumont, Gaspar Noé, Marina de Van, and others. And there are the genre filmmakers creating work around the same time as the more...

Ruben Santiago-Hudson may be best known as the hard-nosed Captain Roy Montgomery on "Castle," or perhaps as Doc, the bodyguard of Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), in the film, "American Gangster." But he is also a writer and director, insisting his three hats are equally "defining, satisfying, and challenging." More important, they all reflect, his "integrity, desire to tell a story, and to erase negative, stereotypical images of my people and bring them to wholeness," he asserts. "Whether I'm acting, writing, or directing, I want to tell the truth about human beings, especially my folk."He is currently helming the revival of Athol Fugard's 1989 "My Children! My Africa!" Off-Broadway at the Pershing Square Signature Center. Set in a classroom in a small South African town in 1984, the play explores the evolving relationships among an idealistic but traditional black teacher (James A. Williams), a revolutionary black student (Stephen Tyrone Williams) and.
