The first time Donna Langley came to the Cannes Film Festival she was a junior executive working on 1999’s “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”
“I had just been promoted and I was fortunate enough to get picked to come on this trip to be part of the support team, and it was great! It was very different to this experience, I will say,” Langley said, eliciting a laugh from the well-heeled crowd at the Kering Women in Motion dinner, held at the Place de la Castre high above the Croisette. “[But] we had the time of our lives. We were just in so much awe to be in the cinema capital of the world.”

Despite the high cost, celebrities, designers, and the who’s who of NYC and beyond shell out for the gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Since the ’70s, the annual affair has attracted household names wearing the most haute couture fashions — always adhering to the chosen theme. See some of the most out-there and iconic guests and looks at the Met Gala over the years.

Hulu has revealed a first look at its upcoming documentary Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge, which will launch on June 25 on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
Co-directed by two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton and produced by Fabiola Beracasa Beckman, Tracy Aftergood, Sean Stuart, Obaid-Chinoy, and Dalton, the documentary will have its world premiere as the opening night selection at the 2024 Tribeca Festival on June 5.
This is an unprecedented look at the nonstop life of a cultural luminary. At a time when gender equality and women’s issues are at the forefront, Diane von Furstenberg’s life exemplifies empowerment, resilience, entrepreneurship, and style.
With her unapologetic demeanor, she inspires women. Diane never saw herself as a victim of sexism; rather, she embraced her femininity in a strong and profound way, forging a path for her daughter and the next generation of women to follow.

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have had a renaissance lately. They are trying to revamp themselves and gather some good publicity.
They are still at odds with their family across the pond even though Harry made a whirlwind trip to the United Kingdom and back to see his dad, King Charles, after his cancer diagnosis.
Now, they are revamping their website. The usual Archewell.com redirects to Sussex.com with a new photo of Meghan and Harry, and a crest is visible, but not Harry’s crest. It is Meghan’s they have used.
Fans have been critical of the rebrand because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be trading on their royal name for commercial enterprises. Something that just is not done in royal circles.
It is unclear if they will be allowed to keep the site running or if Buckingham Palace will require them to...

The 83-year-old actor was spotted with the producer, 29, going for dinner at Pace Italian restaurant, just days after she was enjoying a playful date with Prince Alexander von Furstenberg, reports Mirror.co.uk.

With the Venice Film Festival kicking off its 80th edition this week, the star power may be diminished this year due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, but there are still a host of famed faces turning up on the Lido and at parties around the city. George and Amal Clooney were among the names who turned out for Diane Von Furstenberg’s Dvf Awards — Amal Clooney wore a vintage Christian Dior slip dress with Cartier jewelry — while Adam Driver hit the red carpet for his movie Ferrari on Aug. 31. Even more stars hit the town to attend Giorgio Armani’s “One Night Only” haute-couture celebration on Saturday, Sept. 2, and the amFAR Venezia gala on Sept. 3 sponsored by Chopard.

The Venice Film Festival looks a little different this year, as the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes mean there are fewer celebrities strolling down the red carpet. Working under approved interim agreements from their guild, Adam Driver is there to promote “Ferrari,” while Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi are attending for Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” Caleb Landry Jones for Luc Besson’s “Dogman” and Jessica Chastain for Mexican auteur Michel Franco’s “Memory.” George and Amal Clooney were also on hand at the Diane von Furstenberg-sponsored Dvf Awards, where Amal Clooney is being honored.
Here’s a look at some of the films, fashion and fun on the Lido this year.

Anderson’s post was met with lots of love in the comments, including from his CNN colleagues, with commentator Ana Navarro-Cárdenas writing, “These days are so very hard. The pain dulls but the absence never goes away.”

Diane von Furstenberg, the influential fashion designer who popularized the women’s wrap dress, will be the subject of a new documentary at Hulu.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the Oscar-winning filmmaker of the shorts “Saving Face” and “A Girl in the River,” is directing the film with Trish Dalton. A release date and title for the feature-length documentary will be announced at a later date.
Through archival footage and intimate interviews, the film takes a deep dive into the life and career of von Furstenberg, who forged a path for herself in a male-dominated industry and built a multi-million-dollar fashion empire. She was born in Belgium to Holocaust survivors and began designing women’s clothing around 1970, about a year after marrying Prince Egon von Fürstenberg. When it comes to the postcard-perfect destination of French Polynesia — just an eight-hour flight from Los Angeles — Sienna India, CEO of ultra-luxury travel concierge Sienna Charles, recommends going “to the smaller islands, like Taha’a, where [Tahitian] vanilla is from.”
Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have done just that, staying at Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa (from $895 a night). Guests of the overwater suites and beach villas can swim with sharks, take helicopter or yacht trips, and drift snorkel through a spectacularly crystalline coral garden channel with rainbows of tropical fish. The resort has recently implemented a sustainability agenda that dramatically reduces plastic waste plus completed renovations of its two $2,886-per-night Royal Pool Beach Villas, with plunge pools and not one but two outdoor bathtubs and showers.

Before philanthropist and real-estate developer Eli Broad and his wife Edythe opened The Broad museum in downtown Los Angeles in 2015, the couple housed their Broad Art Foundation in a 1927 brick building in Santa Monica, about a block from the beach. Early works in their collection included pieces by such artists as Barbara Kruger, Christopher Wool, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, Cy Twombly and Glenn Ligon, and the space became a must-visit for collectors and curators during visits to Los Angeles.
But after the museum opened, the Broads sold the building in 2015 to a limited-liability company, according to the Wall Street Journal, tied to the family of designer Diane von Furstenberg. The sale price eight years ago: $16.5 million.

A polaroid Andy Warhol took of Mick Jagger and a woman touching tongues is one of several original photographs and pieces being auctioned off by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
The original Jagger polaroid — which has a starting price of 10,000 — comes from a photo session Warhol spearheaded for the Rolling Stones’ 1977 album, Love You Live. As the Warhol Foundation noted, “Many of the photos from this session depicting band members and other people touching tongues or biting one another were incorporated into the album design, creating a...

From the moment now-husband Tim Rosenman proposed to Whitney Port in late 2013, the MTV reality star was certain she knew just what she wanted. An alum of Teen Vogue and Diane von Fürstenberg, who'd launched her first fashion line, Whitney Eve, four years earlier, the designer envisioned beach vows and a no-frills gown similar to the John Galliano lace shift Cindy Crawford had purchased off-the-rack for her own 1998 vows. "When I first pictured myself...

Many a metaphor was floated on Tuesday morning as Tom Hanks, Anna Kendrick and others gathered to celebrate the long-awaited September 30 opening of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
To architect Renzo Piano, the museum is not the “Death Star” of Star Wars lore, but a “soap bubble” or “a dirigible”—”a flying vessel ready to land, ready to take off.”
Hanks—a Museum Trustee who helped lead fundraising efforts—called the institution “the world’s largest magic lantern,” referencing the very earliest image projectors in the history of cinema, some of which can now be found inside the building.
What all speakers at today’s press conference agreed on is that the Academy Museum is, in the words of its Director and President Bill Kramer, “a magnificent new home for the art of film,” the design of which is as extraordinary as the contents within.
“There are other cities...

Exclusive: Kelly Gale has signed on to star in The Plane, alongside Gerard Butler.
Lionsgate’s action thriller centers on Ray Torrance (Butler), a commercial pilot who has just heroically landed a storm-damaged aircraft in hostile territory, subsequently finding himself threatened by militant pirates who are planning to take the plane and its passengers hostage. As the world’s authorities and media search for the disappeared aircraft, Torrance must rise to the occasion and keep his passengers safe long enough for help to arrive.
Jean-François Richet is directing the film, from a script by Jp Davis, Charles Cumming and Matt Cook, which is based on a book by Cumming.
Di Bonaventura Pictures’ Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing alongside MadRiver Pictures’ Marc Butan, and Butler and Alan Siegel under their G-base banner.
Pic’s exec producers are Michael Cho, Tim Lee, Gary Raskin, Alastair Burlingame, and Vicki Dee Rock.

Whitney Port may be most recognizable as a former star of MTV’s “The Hills” and its spinoff “The City,” but she has since gone on to build a successful career far beyond the realm of reality television. It’s a journey that Port says was both propelled and impeded by the notoriety that comes with starring on one of the most successful TV franchises of all time.
“The TV show happened very organically but then it created this platform for me to start these different businesses,” Port said at TheWrap’s 2020 Power Women Summit. “The reason why I ended up even doing the spinoff, ‘The City’ [which centered on Port moving from Los Angeles to New York to take a job at Diane von Fürstenberg] is so that I could launch my clothing line.”
“I have worked really hard to try to make myself something more than just a reality TV star,” she continued. “I think that’s the hardest barrier for me to break...
