- In American Psycho (2000), for which she co-wrote the screenplay, she plays Elizabeth, a character purported to have attended Sarah Lawrence College. Guinevere Turner actually did attend and graduate from Sarah Lawrence.
- Character Gwen Turner in Mallrats (1995) is named for her (see Mallrats trivia entry).
- Appeared in Soul Asylum's "Can't Even Tell" video, directed by her friend Kevin Smith.
- Her paternal grandmother Elizabeth Hobbs, Mrs. Turner, belonged to the United States Marine Corps in 1944 during World War II.
- Is the oldest of six children. She has three brothers and two sisters. She is also an aunt to one niece and two nephews.
- Is very close friends with fellow filmmakers Kevin Smith, who also won independent breakthrough film-making awards and nominations in 1994 with his "Clerks" film as she did with her "Go Fish." She personally inspired a lot of the lesbian propaganda that is recurring in Smith's works.

- Enjoys crocheting. She makes scarves, sweaters, vests and hoodies for the Griffith Park Bear.
