As a film maker, Thomas brings to his work and art a unique background, over four decades of creative work in the area of feature, TV, and educational production, plus his work in the fields of archaeology, as a historical maritime and military consultant to various tall ships, museums, and other cultural tourism entities, but also as a photographer, graphic designer, building tradesman, event planner, work in the defense industry, and marketing person.
Film wise, his career has included experience in many fields, locations, script consulting, producer and director of educational film, technical advisor to period productions, resources coordination, extras casting, and a particularly broad background in art department related work, props, set dressing, some production design, and as a weapons safety specialist and set armorer.
Over the years he has worked with a wide range of directors, producers, and actors on award winning films like Last of the Mohicans, with director Michael Mann, and actors Wes Studi, and Daniel Day Lewis, The Journey of August King, with Jason Patric, The Patriot, with Roland Emmerich, Richie Rich, with director, producer Don Petrie, The Broken Chain, and award winning television series and educational films such as the CBS mini-series Queen, starring Halle Berry [Golden Globes, USA 1994 , Primetime Emmy Awards 1993 ], The Hunley for TNT where he got to work closely with Armand Assante, the UNC-TV docu-drama Alamance [ Emmy Award, 1997, Telly Award, 1997 ], the PBS special War that Made America, the History Channel's Founding Fathers, plus further work on a number of other projects as a development/consulting producer, and script advisor, including a very close and rewarding collaboration with the iconic screen writer Herb Meadow, creator of Have Gun Will Travel, contributing writer on legendary TV series like, The Lone Ranger, Route 66, The Big Valley, and personal friend of Errol Flynn, writing the screenplay for his film, The Master of Ballantrae.
After creating his brand in film media, New Albion Pictures... he produced the documentary Cannons & Palmettos, Low Country Stories, an exhibit film for The Charleston Museum, the South Carolina Dept. of Economic Development short, Civil, various museum productions, and then developed for Florida Hospital and The Hope Channel the TV series Your Life & Health, his first exploration into producing quality programming in the field of medicine, and healthy lifestyles. He also executive produced a short film in Florida, and is in development as Executive Producer on one feature [The 4th Letter], and is the creator, writer, producer and director of two TV docu-dramas currently [2017] in development.
A sixth-generation Californian, and descendant of the colonial mariners who pioneered New England, Canada, Hawaii, and California, he brings to all of his endeavors a truly fascinating legacy and extensive professional experience in both film and life!
