"He wants you, too, Malachai!" It changed the way some people looked at crops, and it might have even changed the way you listened to Kim Wilde's "Kids in America," and this September, Children of the Corn (based on the Stephen King short story of the same name) will be coming out on a new Blu-ray from Arrow Video, including a 2K restoration from the original negative and a new audio commentary.

The downfall that faced Tobe Hooper's creative relationship with The Cannon Group in the eighties wasn't much different than the fate of George A. Romero's collaboration with Orion Pictures. After leaving an iconic legacy for horror in the previous decade, Hooper had a reputation to live up to when he made a three picture deal with Golan and Globus that resulted in the ambitious, but entertaining failure Lifeforce, the misunderstood parody The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and the family friendly remake of Invaders From Mars that helped sink Cannon out of Hollywood forever.
When considering the talent involved in this production that included screenwriting duties from Dan O' Bannon and special effects from legends like Stan Winston (who was simultaneously working on James Cameron's Aliens), John Dykstra (Star Wars) and Alec Gillis, this quite frankly should have been an exhilarating fantasy spectacle at the very least. Ironically,...

Just months before Linda Hamilton battled The Terminator in 1984, she fought for her life against the Children Of The Corn, led by Isaac (John Franklin), one of the genre’s creepiest kids ever. Children is one of over 50 adaptations of Stephen King stories to have been released over the years, and it remains a cult favorite. It has spawned six sequels (including Isaac’S Return) and been given the remake treatment (please, Hollywood, stop!) by one of the original’s producers, Donald P. Borchers, for a forthcoming Syfy TV premiere—and now it’s back on an Anchor Bay Blu-ray, which will first be available exclusively at Best Buy June 30 ahead of its general release August 25.

The first story: Shelby (Laura Breckenridge) and her boyfriend Rob (Lost Boys: The Tribe’s Tad Hilgenbrink) are driving at night. Rob is behind the wheel, and has joined a convoy with two other vehicles to make better time.
Stopping at a gas station to refuel, Rob meets Tryton (May’s Kevin Gage), the driver of the 18-wheeler leading the way, and a father traveling with his family who is picking up the rear. As the trio hits the highway again, Shelby tells Rob that she saw a girl in the back of Tryton’s truck. Rob assures her that Tryton told him that he’s traveling alone. Then Shelby sees the girl in the back of the truck again—this time holding up a Help Me sign…

Three former childhood friends -- Tabitha (Katheryn Winnick), Lisa (Jessica Lucas) and Shelby (Laura Breckenridge) -- find themselves at the mercy of a madman obsessed with terrifying them for his own personal amusement. One by one they are trapped within his spacious industrially gothic lair and if they don't play his game he might just decide the whole lot of them are better off dead. On and off the theatrical calendar for over a year, thanks to Warner Bros.' internal absorption of New Line and Picturehouse the horror-thriller Amusement makes its premiere on DVD in all its completely unoriginal glory. Granted, this little Saw meets "The Twilight Zone" wannabe has its effective moments, with a couple of moments burrowing under my skin far more than I'd expected them to, but Jake Wade Wall's screenplay is every bit as asinine and as mind-numbingly idiotic as his ones for remakes...
