Jeopardy!‘s 2024 Tournament of Champions continued to deliver surprises on Tuesday night (February 27) as Season 39 super-champ and fan favorite Hannah Wilson was knocked out of the competition. Wilson’s elimination marked two back-to-back shockers, as 21-game winner and front-runner Cris Pannullo was defeated on Monday (February 26), bringing a premature end to his Toc journey. Tuesday’s game saw Wilson, a puzzle designer from Chicago, Illinois, up against David Sibley, an Episcopal priest from Walla Walla, Washington, and Yungsheng Wang, a deputy public defender originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. Sibley got out to an early lead, proving to be fast on the buzzer and answering 11 clues correctly in the first round. He also found and answered the game’s first Daily Double, even dropping a Salt n Peppa reference for good measure. Wilson fought back in Double Jeopardy and briefly took the lead after landing on a Daily Double and boosting her score.

More than 30,000 people are suing Texas Governor Greg Abbott over his early cessation of $300-per-week supplemental federal unemployment payments for state residents during the pandemic.
The group of plaintiffs organized through Facebook groups created to help unemployed Texans navigate the state’s bureaucracy to claim benefits. They argue in the suit that Abbott did not have the authority to end the payments from the federal government, the Houston Chronicle reported. Abbott decided to decline the benefits beginning June 26th, even though the federal government has them scheduled to continue through at least September 6th.

The feature-film directorial debut of John Shackleton, one of the producers at Movie Mogul, the company behind 2011′s fantastic Panic Button (which also debuted at Frightfest the same year), if there’s one film I was looking forward to seeing at this years Frightfest it was The Sleeping Room. I was one of the few the extolled the virtues of Media Mogul’s first foray into filmmaking and I was eager to see what they’d bring to the table with this film.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
