When Erin Moriarty reflects on “The Boys'” third season as a whole, the first thing that comes to mind is the powerful scene when her character, Starlight/Annie January, quits the superhero team known as The Seven. “Playing that character gave me so much … sympathy for everyone that we judge when we look at situations they’re in and come to harsh conclusions,” she tells me. “I think that you’ve got to respect the process she’s been through, even if it includes things that one would deem amoral.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

There are many charming things about Jon Favreau's "Elf." The Christmas movie about a man who is unintentionally raised by North Pole elves and eventually returns to New York to find his biological father has become required holiday viewing, joining the ranks of seasonal classics like "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Story." Will Ferrell is infectious as Buddy, the boisterous and cheerful man who approaches life with the same fervor and intensity as a small child on Christmas morning. Ferrell's portrayal of the film's iconic character could easily have gone in the direction of cringe — after all, he does play a full-grown man whose child-like behavior often gets him into trouble — but in Ferrell's competent hands, he manages to make Buddy an endearing and often heartwarming character who audience members can't help but love.
But just because Ferrell was able to portray Buddy in a convincing and...

“The Boys” is undeniably captivating — the Prime Video adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s satirical superhero comic can be filthy, violent, irreverent and hilarious all at once. But the ongoing conflict between the show’s titular vigilantes and the “Supes” backed by malevolent conglomerate Vought International also keeps viewers transfixed with a layered narrative grounded in a relatable reality. It’s enough to make you forget that these flawed characters are wearing capes — even in the midst of all the kickass superhero action.
The challenge of “The Boys” is in creating an elaborate world that infuses its shock and awe with swirling drama and honest character motivation. In the videos below, visual effects supervisor Stephan Fleet, stunt coordinator John Koyama, and costume designers Laura Jean Shannon and Michael Ground describe how a world with endless possibilities is better off when its dildo brawls, hallucinated pizza parlor mascots, and...

The sixth episode of “The Boys” Season 3, titled “Herogasm,” went viral for all the reasons you’d expect, as it featured a superhero orgy sequence that soon climaxed into violence. As costume designer Michael Ground explains in Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts panel, “I designed probably 30 orgy-centric super suits” for that episode. “That was probably a four-month process of illustrations. For that, we did design all the masks, all the gauntlets, all the armor and everything else — we just didn’t have to do the bodies of it all.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
Ground continues on, “When you’re working in that kind of a situation, it’s just making sure that people are comfortable and they’re covered where they need to be covered, and we’re showing what they’re comfortable showing, and just to bring the entertainment for the audience.” He notes how viewers...

The Boys Season 4 production is underway and Prime Video is giving fans their first glimpse at some of the newest Supe recruits as they unveil Sister Sage and Firecracker’s supersuits. As previously announced, Susan Heyward will take on the role of Sister Sage and Valorie Curry has been cast as Firecracker. Both costumes were designed by Laura Jean Shannon for the series, and fit the past ensembles represented onscreen in the show. (Credit: Prime Video) In the photos, above, Heyward’s Sister Sage wears gold armbands and rich warm patterns that may bring to mind the Dora Milaje from Marvel’s Black Panther. The Vought International roster keeps expanding the realm of “The Boys.”
A first look at Season 4 introduces two new supes, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward). While the details of their roles are still kept under wraps, their patriotic costumes give some slight hints as to their superpowers, thanks to costume designer Laura Jean Shannon. The Sister Sage moniker has already caused fans to speculate the character has a connection to the Sage Grove Center psychiatric institute shown in Season 2.
Season 4 of the Prime Video series is currently in production. Heyward previously starred in “Orange Is the New Black,” and leads the AppleTV+ series “Hello Tomorrow.” Curry stars in Peacock’s “The Lost Symbol” based on the Dan Brown novel.
In addition, Heyward and Curry, “Walking Dead” alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan is confirmed to be starring in a mystery role for Season 4. “The Boys” college spin-off “Gen V” is also in the works.

Vought International has two new hires to boast about: Supes Firecracker and Sister Sage made their epic debut Monday in two first-look photos from “The Boys” Season 4 revealed by Amazon’s Prime Video.
In the photos, which you can view at the bottom of this post, you’ll see Susan Heyward suit up as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry rocking her Firecracker costume.
Both of the supersuits were designed by Laura Jean Shannon, “The Boys” costume designer who styled Jensen Ackles’ fan-favorite Soldier Boy look for Season 3.
Fans will want to pick the details of these costumes apart as much as possible, because Amazon says that everything else about the Firecracker and Sister Sage characters “will be kept under wraps until the season airs.” While we don’t know when that will be just yet, we do know “The Boys” Season 4 is currently in production in Toronto — so stay tuned.

“The Boys” was developed for the screen by writer/director Eric Kripke, based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson as a subversive and wickedly satirical take on corporate America’s obsession with wealth and power. It is a highly entertaining cautionary tale about celebrity worship, materialism, fame and greed, exploring what happens when these revered superheroes abuse their unlimited powers.
Its large ensemble includes stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon and Karen Fukuhara, with Aya Cash and Claudia Doumit joining the cast for season 2.

One of the innate challenges to making “The Boys” — Amazon Prime Video’s superhero satire — is making the impossible feel real.

Even Superman has a difficult time raising children.
In a minute-long trailer for The CW’s upcoming series, “Superman & Lois,” the man of steel (played by Tyler Hoechlin) returns as a stressed-out parent raising two sons Jonathan Kent (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan Kent (Alexander Garfin) with his longtime love interest and now wife Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).
“We all begin as one version of ourself, but as we grow, life changes us,” Hoechlin says in the trailer. “Every moment shaping our character, shifting our priorities, stretching every fiber of our being until we think we’ve lost ourselves to the stress of it all. But that’s not true because under the torn fibers is a strong person, forged like steel, with the courage to fight for those we love.”
The series, a spinoff of the network’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event from December 2019, will see Clark...

Inspired by a little kid running around in his pajamas with a towel tied around his neck, before debuting in comic books, take a look at the new 'super-suit', designed by Laura Jean Shannon, worn by actor Tyler Hoechlin as the alien 'Kal-El' from the upcoming live-action TV series, "Superman & Lois", debuting on The CW February 23, 2021:
"I find that the new suit is representative of the show," said Hoechlin. "Just as this suit is unique and set apart from the ones that preceded it, the story we're telling about 'Clark'/'Superman' at this point in his life is unique and something we've never seen before. "...I've always felt that the suit doesn't belong to me. It belongs to everyone that finds some kind of meaning in that suit, in the symbol on the chest. I just happen to be the one wearing it. We’ve known that his promotion to leading man would mean that Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel got a new suit for Superman & Lois, but it’s taken until now for us to get our first look at it. Earlier today, though, The CW finally unveiled a fresh promo image of the latest Arrowverse series which features the Last Son of Krypton’s revamped costume in all its glory.
As per the influences of the DC Rebirth comics on the storyline of the show, Hoechlin’s new threads are likewise inspired by the 2016 relaunch. In particular, the red belt evokes the one featured in the Rebirth design. Other major changes include the removal of the shoulder straps on the cape, which is now folded under the collar as is traditional. The texture of the blue bodysuit is also different, looking of a higher quality and a little closer to...

Superman and Lois, the first Arrowverse DC TV series headlined by the Man of Steel (and the first live action show to actually put the word “Superman” in the title in 25 years) is arriving in February. And with this new series, a fresh start for the Man of Steel and family, Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman is getting a brand new costume. Don’t worry, this isn’t some Hollywood executive’s attempt to make Supes “edgy” or more hardcore. Fans should rest easy that Tk.
Tyler Hoechlin has been playing Clark Kent in the former-Arrowverse since Supergirl Season 2, when he won over audiences and longtime Superman fans with his easygoing charisma that showcased much of what has been missing from live action portrayals of the character since Christopher Reeve hung up his cape in 1987. But even though Hoechlin’s performance has always been on the mark, the costume he wore...

Dick Grayson might have been the first young ward of Bruce Wayne to take on the mantle of Robin, but that's not his only superhero alter ego. After leaving his role as Batman's famous sidekick, Dick created a new persona all of his own: Nightwing. Ever since Brenton Thwaites took off the domino mask and burnt his iconic red and green suit in the first season of Titans, Dick Grayson fans have been wondering when he'll put on the butt-hugging blue and black that has become synonymous with Nightwing.
Now that we've seen the suit in all its glory during the Titans season 2 finale, we've got all the behind the scenes info on how the striking new super suit was made. At an exclusive event at Warner Bros. Studios in Hollywood we got a...

Fans of crime fighting orphans and black and blue tights, your ship has finally come in. On Thursday just ahead of next week’s Season 2 finale, DC Universe unveiled the super-suit that will be worn by Dick Grayson in his Nightwing persona during the third season of “Titans.” And we’ve got pics for you here.
For the uninitiated, Nightwing is the superhero alias adopted by Dick Grayson, Batman’s original Robin, after he strikes out on his own. As originally depicted in a 1984 storyline by writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez, after six years as Robin, 19-year-0ld Dick has a falling out with Batman and is essentially fired. After some soul searching, he adopts the name Nightwing and continues to lead the Teen Titans (the group from which “Titans” takes its name) through some harrowing times.

Following the reveal earlier this month of Brenton Thwaites in costume as Dick Grayson Aka Robin, another first look from DC’s upcoming Titans TV series has landed – this time revealing two superheroes for the price of one.
The image below shows us how superhero duo Hawk and Dove will appear on screen. Under that red and white helmet is Alan Ritchson (Smallville‘s Aquaman), who’s playing Hank Hall, and beside him and hidden behind those oversized goggles is Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as Dawn Granger, Hank’s crime-fighting (and romantic) partner.
Similar to Thwaites’ Robin outfit, Hawk and Dove look fairly close to their comic book counterparts, only with the colour schemes toned down and the skin-tight unitards swapped for more protective armour. You can see how the characters look on the page for comparison purposes in the gallery below.
