- At some point, I found I preferred plays, and the possibility of directing. With some borrowed equipment, I made a film about the homeless, and because of that I got into the American Film Institute as a fellow. Robert Wise loved the film and I got a fellowship. Sydney Pollack would come and talk and make you feel it was possible.
