Emily Bader plays Lady Jane Gray in My Lady Jane for Amazon Prime Video, here’s the trailer for the new show.
Historical swashbucklers with female leading roles are becoming a regular feature, what with the success of Netflix’s Damsel and the Enola Holmes series, as well as Sally Wainwright’s wonderful Renegade Nell on Disney+.
The latest to hit the market is My Lady Jane, which comes to Amazon’s Prime Video service next month.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553… F*ck that. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy.

Apple TV+ has canceled “The Mosquito Coast” after two seasons, according to media reports.
The decision arrives fresh on the heels of the end of Season 2, the finale of which dropped two weeks ago.
Loosely based on Paul Theroux’s bestselling 1981 novel, “The Mosquito Coast” stars Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman. The story follows Allie Fox (Theroux), an idealist inventor who puts his family in jeopardy in order to escape the U.S. government, cartels and bounty hunters.
A previous movie adaptation of the book starred Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and River Phoenix. The first two seasons served as prequel material to the Peter Weir-directed film, which came out in 1986.

Apple TV+ has canceled “The Mosquito Coast” after two seasons.
Based on Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel, “The Mosquito Coast” follows the dangerous journey of Allie Fox, a brilliant inventor and stubborn idealist, who uproots his family on a dangerous quest to find refuge from the U.S. government, cartels, and hitmen.
In the latest chapter, viewers found the Fox family barely escaping Mexico with their lives, venturing deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees. This new refuge creates trouble for the Foxes though when they become entangled in a conflict between a local drug lord and his family. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie and Margot pursue different paths to secure their family’s future. The outcome of which will either unite the family or tear it apart forever. The Season 2 finale aired earlier this month.

Allie Fox (Justin Theroux) and his family seek temporary refuge from their enemies deep in the Guatemalan jungle in the trailer for Season 2 of “The Mosquito Coast,” out Nov. 4.
The Apple TV+ drama picks up after the Foxes – consisting of genius inventor Allie, his wife Margot (Melissa George) and their two children (Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman) – narrowly escape from Mexico. Their next stop is a community of refugees led by one of Allie’s old friends. Though it seems like a solution, things quickly move into dangerous territory again when they get caught up in a conflict between a local drug lord and his family.
The trailer opens with Allie ensuring his family, “We’ve made it; everything’s gonna be different from now on.” Despite the idyllic scenery and newfound community, Margot isn’t convinced that they’re safe: “You want to make us a home,” she tells her husband.

Covert Affairs’ Kari Matchett and True Blood’s Stephen Moyer are to star in Canadian spy drama Fortunate Son. The series, which is set in the social and political chaos of the late 1960s, is produced by NBCUniversal-backed Lark Productions and Wynonna Earp producer Seven24Films for CBC.
Matchett, who has also featured on The Good Doctor, plays Ruby Howard, an American who fled to Canada as a fugitive from the law. Set in the chaos of the late 1960s, the Vietnam War and the anti-war protest movement, Ruby helps smuggle Vietnam War deserters and draft evaders across the Canadian border. What she doesn’t know is how these actions will unfold and who is watching her. Exclusive: The power was certainly on for the Season 5 premiere of Power but it was surging on a much smaller screen than before.
Laying track to the future in the present, the July 1 airing of the Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson starring Starz drama snagged 1.55 million viewers and a 0.6 rating among adults 18-49. That’s steady in total sets of eyeballs with a dip of just 8% from the Season 4 opener of June 25 last year. Tied with baseball on ESPN for the top key demo spot of last Sunday, the Jackson, Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton, Lela Loren and Joseph Sikora led NYC tale took a 25% hit among the 18-49s from its 2017 debut.
Overall and all Power plays, viewership for Starz on July 1 was up 5% from the Season 4 premiere to 2.8 million. However, steady or down, those numbers might actually not be that big a deal to the Lionsgate-owned premium cabler this time round.

As Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead neared its conclusion Sunday, Alicia made a new friend (If Loving You Is Wrong’s Edwina Findley); Nick got reacquainted with an old one (drugs); Strand took a clandestine meeting with Proctor John; and, as promised, Ofelia and Daniel were reunited in a manner that was “incredibly dark and twisted.” How incredibly dark? Fear The Walking Dead double-episode season two finale takes one step forward and frustratingly, two steps back...
This review contains spoilers.
2.14 Wrath & 2.15 North
A couple of seasons ago, my wife stopped watching The Walking Dead and thus, she’s never bothered with Fear The Walking Dead. While I was watching the so-called two-hour season finale (really, just two episodes back to back, but I’ll get to that later), she turned to me and apologised. She said, “I’m really sorry that you have to watch this for work.” Two weeks ago, she came into the room and asked me if I even liked watching the show, to which I could only manage a shrug.
It’s not that Fear The Walking Dead doesn’t have some great moments, because it does. It also has great characters, at least part of the time, and a much better...

2.3 Ouroboros
The Walking Dead was one of the shows at the forefront of the second screen experience. I think they had the first app designed for people to poke around on while watching a show. I can't remember for sure, so that might not be true, but it's definitely one of the first I used and it remains one of the more noteworthy examples of the attempt by television to integrate phones and tablets into the viewing experience. Fittingly, The Walking Dead also has a strong presence in online video, with multiple Walking Dead websiodes. However, while you've seen characters from the original series expanded upon in the webisodes (Bicycle Girl from the first season), there hasn't been any cross-over in the other direction.

In the original show, we're thrown into a world after the new order has been created; in this world, we're watching that new order come about, slowly but surely. It all starts with the desertion of the National Guard.
One of the crucial points in the way the military operates, both in this universe and in the real world, is their primary duty is to protect themselves. After all, you can't establish command and control of a situation without a show of force,...

Fear The Walking Dead, Season 1, Episode 6, “The Good Man”
Written by Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman
Directed by Stefan Schwartz
Aired Sundays at 9pm (Et) on AMC
With “The Good Man”, Fear The Walking Dead wraps up its first season, a decidedly mixed bag filled with great imagery and so-so characters. The finale keeps things incredibly brisk, focusing on pushing its story to the next stage and moving the characters toward the world we recognize from The Walking Dead. It’s a bloody hour, one that satisfies in mostly expected ways.
The hour acts largely the way a finale should. It wraps up the season’s storylines, as Travis and Maddie’s family and the Salazars head to the military compound with the goal of retrieving Nick, Liza, and Griselda, leading all of the walkers that were locked in the stadium to the compound, effectively overrunning it.
God this show looks good.

From The Twilight Zone to Penny Dreadful, Doctor Who and more, Den Of Geek’s writers revisit the TV episodes that truly terrify them…
It’s Halloween! Icicles are glistening from window sills. Chestnuts are roasting on open fires. North Pole elves are… hang on, no. None of that nice, fluffy stuff is happening. At Halloween, demonic creatures hunt for flesh, monsters creep out of their graves, and TV does its level best to freak us all the hell out.
In the spirit of all that, we asked our writers to select and share the TV episodes, horror or otherwise, that have made them whimper with fear. Here they all are, 31 of them, because, well, at Halloween, we like things to add up to 31.
Note that this isn’t a Top 10, or a Best Of, nor is it listed in order of scariness. It’s a collection of the particular...

The Bridge Season 2, Episode 3 “Sorrowsworn”
Written by Patrick Somerville
Directed by Stefan Schwartz
Airs Wednesdays at 10pm Et on FX
“Sorrowsworn” is an interesting turning point for The Bridge, both in construction and delivery: continuing the trend of the last two episodes, “Sorrowsworn” layers more intertwining characters and stories into the larger story, while at the same time attempting to find intimate moments with characters, an interesting experiment in pressing on the gas pedal while slightly massaging the brake at the same time. It makes for an uneven ride at times, sure, but like last week’s episode, there’s the growing sensation that The Bridge is finding its direction as it continues its sophomore transformation.
In “Sorrowsworn”, that dichotomy comes from the “large” and “small” moments: when The Bridge is focused on the “bigger picture”, it still feels hazy as to why all these stories co-exist along side each other.

Read the previous part in this series: the film careers of Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, here.
By 2009, the new version of Doctor Who had become not only an integral part of Saturday night television and a huge Christmas ratings winner but also an international success all over again. David Tennant, who had played the Time Lord since 2005 and was, arguably, more popular than any Doctor since the mighty Tom Baker hung up his scarf in 1981, had announced his resignation from the part he loved in October 2008. Many wondered how the incoming showrunner, Steven Moffat, would follow Tennant and what kind of show would emerge.

The Americans Season 2, Episode 10 “Yousaf”
Written by Stephen Schiff & Stuart Zicherman
Directed by Stefan Schwartz
Airs Wednesdays at 10pm Et on FX
The Americans has always been great at balance: balancing attention between its two main characters, balancing the intelligence and effectiveness of both American and Russian operations, and fantastic at keeping proceedings from becoming too outlandish, soapy, or preachy. That careful construction is what makes an enjoyable episode like “Yousaf” feel a bit off: as season two continues to focus more and more on Philip’s breakdown, “Yousaf” goes a bit into left field, transforming Larrick into a Super Villian, and bringing back an unfamiliar face from season one to draw parallels to Elizabeth, who is sidelined for most of the hour (left to deal with Paige and her new Bible-loving ways).
And in reality, “Yousaf” doesn’t really do much to move things forward – the real plot movement comes from Larrick,...

In This Episode...
Deb is staying with Vogel while she is being treated for severe Ptsd. Vogel takes Deb back to the container, to “take away the power it holds” and remind her that she is a good person, but she will always choose Dexter. It actually seems to be helping. Vogel shows Deb one of the videos she made with Harry, comparing her with her father. They both did what they thought was in Dexter’s best interest. Deb eventually sneaks into Vogel’s office and finds more Harry videos. She watches one in which Harry is consumed with guilt after he walks in on Dexter during one of his kills.

Dexter, Season 8, Episode 4, ‘Scar Tissue’
Written By Tim Schlattmann
Directed By Stefan Schwartz
Airs Sundays, 8pm on Showtime
The trouble with ending a story is that too many people want too many different things, the author included, and quite often the natural endgame to set up is the one that people are afraid to see. It’s a scary thought, after all, if you’ve been invested in something for it to come to an end. We all want different things, have different expectations and not everyone will be satisfied with the result. With Scar Tissue, the fourth installment of Dexter’s final season, it has become clear that the last great chase will focus almost entirely on its two central characters, not villains of the week or rival serial killers. Unfortunately, with the episode’s indecisive conclusion, the chosen direction is not in the slightest bit clear. Fear, it seems,...

11: “Clear” The Cat Statue
It is a big relief to see Michonne finally have some dialogue written for her. We all know that Michonne is a misanthrope and is always on guard, but the deadly silent and unhelpful version of Michonne is downright frustrating. Rick finding comfort in Michonne and opening up to her about his tour of insanity was a nice touch – especially when she confides in him by confessing that she, too, spoke to dead people. Prior to that, Michonne set out to get back the picture that Carl dropped and returned with the photo and a colourful cat statue. It was a small moment but a nice touch on the part of the writers, and gave her character a bit more life and personality.

Woodbury is planning for war. The Governor has given various decrees, including that Martinez collect all weapons and ammo, even personal weapons; and that no one is to leave Woodbury. Andrea is concerned, so Milton shows her something he just discovered: the Governor’s “workshop” - or what most people would recognize as a torture chamber. A dental chair sat in the center of the room, equipped with handcuffs, and a table laid out with all manner of instruments that are clearly meant to frighten and inflict pain. Andrea is shocked by this. The Governor enters, and the pair freeze. They are spying from the top of the room, a closed-off loft with a large vent. Andrea levels her gun at the Governor, but Milton makes her withdraw it. Later on,...

Director: Stefan Schwartz. Writers: Frank Darabont, Robert Kirkman, Evan T. Reilly and Glen Mazzara. Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden and Norman Reedus. AMC aired another exciting episode of "The Walking Dead" on Saint Patrick's Day. There was no drinking in this episode, but Epis. 14, titled "Prey," dealt almost exclusively with the setting of Woodbury. Characters were jumping ship and the Governor (David Morrissey) continued his lying ways. There was a lot of conflict, as well. Milton (Dallas Roberts) found a way to sabotage the Governor's attack on the prison. Andrea (Laurie Holden) also found herself as a final girl in a horror film as she tried to escape the Governor's maniacal clutches. And, the film's story structure offered a speed bump early on, with the use of a hanging flashback. Overall, "Prey" continued the trend of introducing several scenes of tension. This episode focused primarily on Andrea,...

The Walking Dead, Season 3, Episode 14: “Prey”
Written by Evan T. Reilly and Glen Mazzara
Directed by Stefan Schwartz
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
In the NHL, three stars are awarded to the three most valuable players of every game. If we could do the same with television, composer Bear McCreary would easily run away with one of three stars each and every week, for his work on The Walking Dead. With “Prey,” McCreary is easily the Mvp; his music almost never lets up throughout the entire length of the cat and mouse chase between Andrea and The Governor, and McCreary’s score plays a large contribution in what is one of the most suspenseful extended scenes in the history of the series. I’ve noted before how various episodes in this season are reminiscent in tone and atmosphere to some of the earlier work of cult director John Carpenter.

In the third episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 3, Andrea arrived in Woodbury. And in the third to last episode of Season 3, Andrea finally decides to leave -- only to find out she's too late.
The effectiveness of "Prey" -- arguably one of the most tense hours of "The Walking Dead" to date -- probably depends on how invested you are in Andrea's fate. But even if you choose to believe she should've left Woodbury several episodes ago, or killed the Governor when she had the chance, the creepy game of cat and mouse the Governor played with her in that warehouse was masterfully executed by director Stefan Schwartz (a Brit TV vet of "Luther" and "Dexter" making his "Dead" debut with this episode). There were echoes of Alfred Hitchcock and John Carpenter you won't get anywhere else on TV, with some bonus shovel-to-a-walker's-head action courtesy of the completely unhinged Governor.

Before last week's "The Walking Dead" episode ended, we already knew that the peace talk would fail, resulting in both Rick and the Governor readying their troops for war. This week's Andrea-centric episode entitled "Prey" was written by Glen Mazzara and Evan Reilly and directed by Stefan Schwartz.
Spoiler Alert: Do not read any further if you haven’t watched the episode yet. This is a recap with specific details from this episode. Continue only if you have already watched it.
In a flashback, Michonne tied her zombie pets to a tree before joining Andrea for a "girls' night" dinner over the campfire. Michonne hesitated when Andrea asked where Michonne found her pets. "They deserved what they got. They weren't human to begin with," offered Michonne before shutting down the topic. At Woodbury, the Governor shackled up some chains while creepily happy imagining his prisoner in them. We can only guess who that might be,...

How do you solve a problem like Andrea? Glen Mazzara has a plan in this week's compelling episode of The Walking Dead...
This review contains spoilers.
3.14 Prey
There are three episodes of The Walking Dead left in the third season, and thus far Glen Mazzara has addressed a great deal of the show's difficulties. He's sped up the plot, turned the zombies back into threats, introduced a brilliant human threat in the form of the Governor and his Woodbury cronies, as well as two of the most-wanted characters from the comic book, and he's resurrected the show from its second season doldrums. There's still one thing left on his plate: do something about Andrea.
Director Stefan Schwartz deserves a lot of credit for what he's managed to pull off this week. He's taken an Andrea episode and turned it into a compelling, interesting, pulse-pounding...

Get an idea of what to expect from the next episode of The Walking Dead Season 3 with our updated photo gallery and preview videos. The previous episode brought the Woodbury and prison groups together for the first time, and “Prey” revolves around the Woodbury characters preparing for the next encounter. There’s a heavy focus on Andrea and Tyreese’s group, and this is one of those episodes where you’ll wish could watch the next one right away.
