This review may contain spoilers. "Smallville" but only for a matter of weeks before Clark Kent (Tom Welling) finally takes to the skies and becomes the hero he was destined to become. Last week's episode, "Kent," was a mixed offering which simply didn't have the emotional impact is should have done given it showcased the return of Jonathan Schneider, and Clark's reunion with his human father. "Booster" is more of the same, teasing the future of Superman but steering clear of the real nitty-gritty of that final transformation. Given how much of the episode is about hope and inspiration, it is disappointing how uninspiring the opening half of the episode really is. This is not Tom Welling's first stint in the director's chair, nor is it Geoff Johns' first time writing a hero-filled ...

When Smallville returns from its prolonged hiatus, viewers will be treated to the return of Jonathan Schneider as an alternate version of Clark's father.
A week later, meanwhile, they'll meet an entirely new character.
On April 22, Eric Martsolf guest stars as Booster Gold, a favorite to long-time DC Comic fans, someone described as a glory-seeking showboat from the future.
"The episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants," Martsolf told TV Guide, adding that his behavior will shock a Clark Kent who wants to remain more in the background.
Geoff Johns, a popular comic book scribe, wrote the episode, and says "the one thing Booster does prove to Clark is that people want to look up to this guy. They want to be inspired."
The highly-anticipated installment will also mark the debut of teenager Jaime Reyes...

Ready to say hello again to Jonathan Schneider, Smallville fans?
The veteran actor returns to this CW hit on April 15, reprising the role of Clark's dad, Jonathan. Sort of.
He'll actually be portraying an alternate version of Jonathan Kent, one the actor recently said "has had a very different path" than the father with which we're familiar. When he mistakes his actual son for Clark Luthor, well, we can't tell you what will happen.
But we can post a series of photos from "Kent," the upcoming installment that will reunite different father and son:...

Smallville begins its stretch run to the series finale on April 15, when it returns with the episode "Kent."
The installment will find Clark in the alternate universe into which he got pulled on "Luthor," this time due to the actions of his evil, alt self. When father Jonathan runs into his son, he mistakes him for Ultraman, resulting in the following scene:
As for this version of Jonathan Kent, actor Jonathan Schneider says in an interview that he's broke and "has had a very different path than the Jonathan we all know. [He] is so different you can’t believe it!”
Elsewhere on the episode, the real Clark Luthor warns Tess that if she doesn’t side with him, he’ll kill her; and Lois does all she can to bring back her fiancé from Over There.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks over the casting for "The Man Of Steel" and now one of those reports have been confirmed. Kevin Costner, who was reportedly being considered for a role in the movie, has sealed a deal to become the new Jonathan Kent. He will star alongside Diane Lane who has been cast as Martha Kent and Henry Cavill as Superman. In the Richard Donner movies, the role of Mr. Kent was played by Glenn Ford and the character later given a more substantial development on The CW's "Smallville" series, this time by Jonathan Schneider. In both adaptations, Jonathan Kent provided some much needed guidance for the Last Son of Krypton and eventually suffered a heart attack ... an even that pushing Clark forward towards his destiny as a hero. It is unclear if Costner's character ...

Exclusive: The rebuilding of Disney Television Animation, which started in 2008 with the hire of Nickelodeon veteran Eric Coleman as Svp Original Series, continues. Coleman has assembled his new executive team, which includes Michael McGahey, Khaki Jones and Jonathan Schneider. Additionally, the division's project Gravity Falls has been picked to series at Disney Channel for a spring 2012 premiere, while freshman Disney Channel series Fish Hooks has been renewed for a second season. Since its September premiere, Fish Hooks, which features 2D animation characters set against photo-real backgrounds, has unseated Disney TV Animation's other hit, Phineas and Ferb, as TV's No.1 animated series among kids 6-14. The series was created by and is co-executive produced by illustrator Noah Z. Jones, developed by Alex Hirsch and executive produced by Maxwell Atoms. Hot up-and-comer Hirsch, a recent Cal Arts graduate, created Gravity Falls, a stylized animated comedy about twin siblings who are thrust into...

Smallville's 10th season premiere "Lazarus" won't air until this coming Friday, the 24th, but already the internet is abuzz with the latest bit of iconic casting for the Man of Steel's final outing.
Following in the footsteps of her former co-star Dean Cain, Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has joined the Women of Smallville as, you guessed it, Lois Lane's mother.
It seems Teri Hatcher's portrayal of the late Ella Lane won't coincide with the re-appearance of Lois' living family members, with Hatcher appearing via old videotape in the eighth episode "Abandoned" and Michael Ironside and Peyton List's Sam and Lucy Lane returning for the seventh episode "Ambush."
Prior to her primetime stardom as Susan Mayer of ABC's Desperate Housewives, Hatcher was best known as the iconic Superman reporter of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Former Clark Kent actor Dean Cain had previously appeared...

Welcome back to our DC Entertainment and everything DC column, The Daily Planet. For the time being, we are still using the same title of the newspaper from the famed comics, until we are told we can’t use it anymore. Over the next six weeks, we plan to use this column to chronicle the unprecedented 10 year journey that is the Smallville, series ranging from thoughts on best and worst episodes, favorite moments, best characters, and an overall retrospective of each season of the Superman series.
A Journey Begins…
A decade ago, the world was introduced to a new tale of the man of steel, a mythos re-tooling about the young Clark Kent as he struggles with his alien lineage, the emergence of his special abilities, and most importantly, the protection of his secret identity. The concept of Smallville is well chronicled. A misfire in bringing a young Batman series to the small-screen,...

After being elected as Kansas State Senator, and then promptly meeting his maker at the close of season 5 of Smallville, Jonathan Kent (Jonathan Schneider) is to make his return to the show in Season 10's "Lazurus" episode.
Returning after a five-year absence, there remains the conspicuous question as to how they are going to return this character in a believable manner, without his random appearance seeming too contrived.
TV.com predicts that it will most likely be an emotional reunion between father and son -- most likely forming the inevitable "dead relative... More >>...
