Exclusive: Filming is underway on ambitious European drama series The Net, about corruption and conspiracies in the world of international soccer.
The Net will comprise four independent series, shot in their local languages, which will work as stand-alone dramas, but also as part of an interwoven narrative across 30 hours of storytelling.
The first of four seasons to get underway is Austria’s The Net – Prometheus, which will star Tobias Moretti (Bad Banks), Angel Coulby (Merlin), Amanda Abbington (Sherlock), Benjamin Sadler (Tribes of Europa) and Nicholas Goh (Skyfall). Andreas Prochaska (The Winemaker) is directing Martin Ambrosch’s (Brock) script.
Set in Austria’s mountains, the drama will center on Georg Trotter (Moretti), a doctor and former doping agent who gave up his career after a tragic car accident badly injuring his wife Diana (Coulby) and killing his beloved son. Warning: contains spoilers for Tribes of Europa episodes 1-6.
Netflix’ latest German sci-fi Tribes of Europa comes from the same producers that brought us twisty time-travel sci-fi Dark. If you’ve already binged all six episodes, you may have lingering questions, we certainly do.
There was plenty left unexplained by that cliffhanger of an ending, which we can only hope suggests that there may be a second season on the horizon.
The series follows three siblings of the Origine tribe, all of whom end up following very different paths after they discover a mysterious cube. The youngest, Elja (played by David Ali Rashed) arguably ends up on the most important route of all, beginning a quest to find out more around the unusual object. Liv (played by Henriette Confurius) plays a Katniss Everdeen-esque young girl, who will do anything to protect her family. Lastly, the eldest of the siblings, Kiano...

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that their 2-part destructo drama Impact, starring Benjamin Sadler, David James Elliot, Florentine Lahme, and James Cromwell, will street on September 1, 2009.
Synopsis:
During the largest meteor shower in 10,000 years, a rogue asteroid collides with the moon, causing a huge explosion and sending moon fragments catapulting to Earth. Soon, unusual phenomena begin to unnerve the entire planet: cell phones are disrupted, the normal pattern of the tides shift and heavy objects like cars become temporarily weightless – all as the world’s leading scientists uncover unsettling evidence that the moon’s orbit may have been permanently altered.
Even more frightening, they discover that the new orbit has put the Earth directly in the moon’s path and there are only 39 days remaining until it crashes into the planet.
