When we last left "Dexter" and Deb, Hanna had reappeared in their lives, drugging them and now apparently leaving Dexter in the middle of nowhere.
What does she want? For Dexter to kill her new husband Miles, of course. He's a yacht-owning control freak whom Hannah cannot poison because she'll be the no. 1 suspect, especially because he knows about her past (he helped her get a new identity and she's going by "Maggie" now).
But in the end, Hannah kills Miles when he talks about, basically, kidnapping her and never letting her off his yacht for the rest of her life. Dexter helps her clean up the mess and it's maybe looking like Dexter's lady love is back in his life? How do you feel about that, "Dexter" fans? Personally, we think Dexter could use the love of a good woman who knows who he really is, so we'd be...

After reaching the half-way point in Dexter’s final season I expected the story to be in a very different place. Whereas the first half of the season was apparently all about seeing Deb hit bottom so she could start to accept Dexter back into her life while introducing Vogel, the second half will of course result in Dexter’s end one way or another, but getting there is still no more clear than it was at the beginning of the season. Having killed Yates, a figure which loomed high in the background of the story before revealing himself to be much less deserving of so much focus, the season has shifted to the Zach Hamilton arc which “A Little Reflection” spent the most time developing. When this plot was introduced last episode I rolled my eyes and groaned for mostly the same reason why I...

Dexter Episode 806
“A Little Reflection”
Written By: Jace Richdale
Directed By: John Dahl
Original Airdate: 4 August 2013
In This Episode...
Dexter has been following Zach Hamilton for the last week. Other than a fascination with crime scenes, car accidents, and other places where dead bodies are likely to be, Dexter can’t find any evidence that Zach deserves to be on his table. Dexter is curious when he follows Zach to Vogel’s office. The moment the kid leaves, Dexter confronts her. Vogel admits that Zach’s father brought him to see her because of her work with psychopaths and his propensity towards violence. She comes down with a sudden case of ethics and won’t divulge more, but does ask that if Dexter finds any evidence against Zach, he come to her first.
Dexter’s next crime scene is an easy one - a woman was killed by her boyfriend,...

The family theme of the final season of "Dexter" keeps plugging along, as Dexter bonds with his real son and finds himself a surrogate son, one with whom he can share the dark passenger.
So, Zach Hamilton killed Norma Rivera and is the type of young psychopath in whom Dr. Vogel sees potential to be another Dexter. At first, Dexter balks because Zach killed an innocent, but Zach's table-side (table-on?) confession about caring for his mother (since his dad's affairs are causing her to drink herself to death) and also the dark urges he can't control convinces Dexter he can adopt Zach as a mentor (son, intern, what have you).
(Though Ps -- if Zach gets jealous of Dexter's real son and tries, or succeeds, to hurt Harrison, we immediately renounce him and hope Dexter kills him slowly and painfully.)
And as Dexter is finding another familial addition to his darker side,...

Dexter Episode 805
“This Little Piggy”
Written By: Scott Reynolds
Directed By: Romeo Tirone
Original Airdate: 28 July 2013
In This Episode...
Deb and Dexter are being counseled by Dr. Vogel. Dexter is mad in a way that I don’t think we have ever seen him before. He’s not just mad, but he is hurt. Deb is genuinely apologetic. Vogel sees this as a positive: Deb trying to kill her and Dexter was her hitting rock bottom; Deb saving her brother was her first step towards recovery. Dexter wants to get back to catching a killer - “according to you that’s all I’m good for.”
For the first time, Dexter is happy that Deb won’t be at work. He is ignoring her calls, deleting her voicemails, and is looking forward to locking himself in his lab. But first, he has to go to the morning briefing. Batista is...

"Dexter's" final season just took an interesting twist in "This Little Piggy," one we can't wait to see play out over the final seven episodes. Don't keep reading if you haven't watched the episode yet.
The Brain Surgeon story arc has (seemingly) come to an end, courtesy of Yates kidnapping Dr. Vogel and Dexter and Deb subsequently saving her and Dexter killing Yates in the process -- which Deb is totally cool with.
Do you really think the Brain Surgeon is dead? Is Dr. Vogel the Brain Surgeon?
Correct us if we're misinterpreting, but Deb seems to be starting to regard Evelyn as her own mother figure, just like Dexter has been. We were actually thinking of them as a little (psychopath) family before the episode even ended with them on Dexter's boat and him saying he wanted to be with "family."
It's too early in the season...
