Nicolas Cage is going to star in the upcoming independent horror film titled Longlegs. While the film looks very modern, it’s actually a throwback to one Old Hollywood icon. Interestingly the director of Longlegs has a major connection to the icon in question.
Nicolas Cage’s ‘Longlegs’ was inspired by 1 of the best directors ever
Longlegs will be directed by Oz Perkins. So far, Perkins is most famous for his films I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and Gretel & Hansel. During a 2020 interview with Polygon, Perkins discussed Longlegs, saying it was inspired by the work of cinematic legend Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock is remembered for horror films and thrillers such as Psycho, The Birds, Rear Window, Vertigo, and North by Northwest. His movies often have good humor and a psychosexual subtext. Hitchcock might be the most acclaimed director of all time, with Stanley Kubrick being his only real rival.

The trailer for Longlegs, Nicolas Cage’s new horror movie, makes it looks like a serial killer film. Interestingly, Cage compared the film to a character from Pinocchio. However, the film was directed by the son of a horror movie legend.
Nicolas Cage said ‘Longlegs’ is about ‘a possessed Geppetto’
Anthony Perkins was a talented actor who appeared in numerous films and television shows, but he will always be most remembered for playing Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Bates was one of the first realistic serial killers to be portrayed onscreen in an American movie. Perkins would reprise the role in three sequels. His son, Oz Perkins, is now a horror director known for the offbeat films Gretel & Hansel and I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. He also directed Cage’s upcoming film, Longlegs.

The previous teasers for The Blackcoat's Daughter director Osgood Perkins' next feature, Longlegs, have been very effective in building an aura of unsettling dread around the mysterious horror flick, but this latest trailer really takes things to another level.
Though the movie is still playing things relatively close to the chest when it comes to revealing specific plot details, this footage does give us a little more to go on, as rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (It Follows star Maika Monroe) becomes obsessed with tracking down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families - and might just have supernatural abilities.
Harker has a personal connection to the killer (did she survive an earlier attack?), which leads her down an even darker path and into the world of the Occult.
Say your prayers, check out the new trailer and poster below along with the initial social media reactions, and...

Harker soon discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the creation of director Oz Perkins. The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. This looks So creepy and extra frightening & disturbing - and the buzz from early reviews is that this seriously is one of the best horror films...

If there's one thing that actor Maika Monroe is going to do, it's put on a brilliant performance in a critically-acclaimed horror movie that's destined to be underseen and underappreciated by most of the general moviegoing public at large. The scream queen's first real breakthrough role came in 2014's "The Guest" and she wasted no time following that up with "It Follows" (which is receiving a sequel with the original cast reprising their roles), 2022's criminally underrated "Watcher," and the Paramount+ original "Significant Other."
This time, however, the star is backed up by none other than Nicolas Cage and actor-turned-director Oz Perkins on "Longlegs" in the hopes that audiences will be right on time to appreciate whatever scares and compelling imagery await. This latest horror feature comes with a fair amount of hype behind it, with previous trailers setting the stage for an occult thriller with one heck of an unsettling sense of atmosphere.

Nicolas Cage just might be the most terrifying serial killer onscreen…if he really is the murderer.
Cage stars in and produces “Longlegs,” the latest horror film from writer/director Oz Perkins who previously helmed “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” (2015), “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House” (2016), and “Greta and Hansel” (2020).
Perkins, the son of “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins, is officially credited as Osgood Perkins for “Longlegs.” The film is produced by Cage’s Saturn Pictures, Range, Traffic, Oddfellows, and C2 Motion Picture Group. Actress
The feature centers on a series of occult murders that are connected to an FBI detective’s (Maika Monroe) past. A cold case is reawakened; Cage, Blair Underwood, and Alicia Witt co-star in the film.

Buyers at the Cannes Market were going bananas for Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, with the bidding war eventually being won out by Neon. While no financial details were made available, Deadline reports that the studio is aiming for a 2025 release.
Filming on The Monkey – which was first published in 1980 and subsequently reprinted in the essential King short story collection Skeleton Crew – wrapped in March. Directed by Oz Perkins (son of Anthony and whose Longlegs is also being distributed by Neon), the movie is notably produced by James Wan and features a cast of Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Levy, Rohan Campbell, Christian Convery, and Colin O’Brien.
For those unfamiliar with Stephen King’s short story, The Monkey has the following plot: “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them.

The first reactions to Longlegs were recently shared on social media, and after watching the full trailer for Osgood Perkins' (The Blackcoat's Daughter) latest project, it's easy to see why it's being hailed as one of the scariest movies of the year.

Considering how much build-up Longlegs has had – with the stream of teasers, posters and symbols – the horror film had a lot to live up to, at least how it was being marketed. Fortunately for the involved parties, Longlegs looks to be one of the horror flicks to see so far this year, with most praising it for being an unnerving work that features stellar performances and channels The Silence of the Lambs.
Check out some of the early reviews of Longlegs below:
I was so lucky to see #Longlegs, and no exaggeration: it could be the best horror film of ‘24. Oz Perkins can really get under my skin; this is his masterpiece. Monroe gives a fabulously unique lead performance, and Cage? Nightmarish. Maybe the scariest 1st 10 mins, ever. pic.twitter.com/ImMEDDxGXi

Horror fans have been keeping a very close eye on director Osgood Perkins' next project, and the first social media reactions for the mysterious Longlegs are in.
These reactions are highly positive, and it sounds like the movie is a genuinely disturbing, terrifying experience.
Though Longlegs definitely seems to be keeping its biggest secrets firmly under wraps for the time being (and the teasers are all the better for it), we do know that the plot revolves around a rookie FBI agent (It Follows star Maika Monroe) attempting to track down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families.
Cage's character has largely been kept out of the marketing, aside from one unsettling shot.
Check out the social media posts below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer.

We’ve all grown up hearing the classic fairytale. A brother and sister are turned out of their home and sent by their wicked stepmother to survive in the deep, dark woods. The ingenious Hansel leaves a trail of pebbles and breadcrumbs to find the way home, but they eventually fall into the clutches of a sinister witch. While Gretel does get credit for pushing the old witch into the oven before she can roast and eat Hansel, most of the story’s heroism still falls on male shoulders. But what if Gretel was actually the one responsible for the sibling’s survival? What if it’s her courage and fortitude that saves the day while her brother is little more than a burden? Oz Perkins’s nightmarish film turns the classic fairy tale on its head...

Whenever I get asked to recommend a good horror movie- I immediately take into consideration who I’m recommending it to. The key to a good movie recommendation is to compliment the other person’s tastes and suggest something that will comfortably expand their horizons. It also helps if the movie you’re recommending is criminally underseen for how incredibly well-made it is. Here’s what I mean- In 2020- yes, That 2020- the entire world was affected by unprecedented events that caused the everyday lives of everyday people to dramatically change. One of the many industries that suffered during this time was the Movie Theater industry. It was rough. It was stale. It was fucking Groundhog Day. At first, there were delays- movies just weren’t coming out at all. Then, some that were meant for theaters and Imax ended up going straight to streaming, delays, delays, more delays.

Alfred Hitchcock’s films have been some of the iconic films that have shaped the genre of suspense thrillers. He is known as the Master of Suspense, and his filmography as a director has been an inspirational one. Films such as To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho have been considered his best films.
Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is potentially the best suspense horror/thriller film

The actor also managed to earn an Oscar nomination for the 1956 film Friendly Persuasion. However, he held one secret about his sexuality due to the regressive ideologies of the 50s.

“Every year, there is another.” Dropped on Twitter last past weekend, a cryptic teaser that fans had to decipher and translate, Neon showed us all—even those who didn’t understand what they were seeing—the first look at “Longlegs.” An FBI horror thriller that sounds a little like “Silence Of The Lambs” in its mix of crime agencies and horror films, the movie is written and directed by Oz Perkins, the filmmaker behind “The Blackcoat’s Daughter,” “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House” and episodes of “The Twilight Zone” (Perkins is also an actor and the son of classic Hollywood actor Anthony Perkins).

Leave it to Oz Perkins, the son of “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins, to stir up another cinematic nightmare. The first teaser has been released for Perkins’ so-far-so-mysterious “Longlegs,” out from Neon on July 12, with the director here officially credited as “Osgood Perkins,” also the name of the filmmaker’s grandfather.
The horror movie, which centers on an occult killing spree and one detective’s personal connection to it, stars “It Follows” scream queen Maika Monroe as an FBI agent assigned to a cold case now reawakened. But she soon uncovers a close-to-home link to the crimes, perhaps being orchestrated by Nicolas Cage as the murderer. Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt also star.
Perkins directed his own original screenplay for the Neon release — produced by Cage’s Saturn Pictures, Range, Traffic, Oddfellows, and C2 Motion Picture Group — that shot in Vancouver in early 2023. The marketing so far has been pretty mysterious...

FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the latest film from director Oz Perkins - all those creepy teases were leading up to this. The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. This is such a disquiting, frightening, captivating teaser -...

Ever since the dawn of the internet, the art of the tease in marketing upcoming films has essentially gone extinct. We're all used to living in a 24/7 entertainment news cycle, where it's easy for the average layman (let alone Hollywood insider) to know which actor has signed a deal to appear in what movie before the thing ever gets made, let alone premiere on cinema screens. Nostalgic cinephiles like myself long for the days when teaser trailers were a regular phenomenon, made almost expressly to announce to general audiences that these movies are coming soon without giving much (or hardly anything) away.
Although the general trend for movie trailers these days is to essentially throw the baby out with the bathwater in terms of cast, plot, big highlight moments, and the like, teaser trailers do still occasionally get made, and it's always a special occasion when these trailers actually, well,...

Neon released a cryptic new teaser for an unnamed horror film that had the internet playing guessing games early on Friday. While the studio has yet to confirm what movie it’s for, this teaser, which played out a 9-1-1 call against a Polaroid, is likely for the Nicolas Cage thriller Longlegs. Indeed, the teaser ends with a shot of suspiciously long legs, so…
The film is directed by Oz Perkins, son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, who previously directed the well-received chillers The Blackout’s Daughter, I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Greta and Hansel. The movie stars genre fave Maika Monroe as a young FBI agent on the trail of a serial killer with ties to the occult. Cage not only co-stars in the film but is also producing it, with Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt co-starring. When describing it to John Carpenter...

"Every year there is another." What does it all mean? Any ideas? Any theories? Neon has revealed a strange and mysterious 30-second teaser trailer video for a film that they don't actually name. Very freaky. Though we're pretty damn sure it's a viral teaser for the horror film Longlegs. Yesterday night, a moviegoer posted a video on social media showing a brand new teaser trailer for Longlegs playing in theaters right now - but it's not online yet (and the video was pulled). This teaser features audio of a 911 call, along with a photo that switches at the end. The title card on this teaser is the same red title card with symbols or cryptic text, exact same as seen in the trailer playing in theaters. It could also be for another Neon horror film called Cuckoo, that's premiering at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival next month. Longlegs is the latest from horror filmmaker Oz Perkins,...

Don’t do it, Nic! That thought came to mind this morning as I read a new, in-depth interview with Nicolas Cage in Vanity Fair, where the legendary star explained his plan to retire from movies. “I may have three or four more movies left in me,” he told the publication, explaining, “I do feel I’ve said what I’ve had to say with cinema…I think I took film performance as far as I could.”
However, while Cage seems to be closing the door on film acting, it turns out that he does want to give episodic TV a whirl, with him particularly impressed by Bryan Cranston’s long run as Walter White on Breaking Bad. “Maybe it’s time to look at the immersive streaming experience,” adding, “I don’t know. I have to look for the next step, and I haven’t found it yet.”

“I’ve gotta be nice about Marvel movies, because I named myself after a Stan Lee character named Luke Cage,” he said, referring to the well-known origins of his stage name.
“What am I going to do, put Marvel movies down? Stan Lee is my surrealistic father. He named me.”
He continued: “I understand what the frustration is. I get it. But I think there’s plenty of room for everybody. I’m seeing movies like [recent Oscar nominee] Tár. I’m seeing all kinds of artistic and independently driven movies. I think there’s plenty of room for everybody.”

A new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show has just been released this morning, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek head over to the Bates Motel to discuss one of the most surprisingly good sequels ever made: 1983’s Psycho II (watch it Here)! A movie that came along twenty-three years after its predecessor and somehow managed to be a worthy follow-up to one of the greatest horror movies ever made, Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho. To find out what Lance and The Arrow had to say about Psycho II, check out the video embedded above.
Directed by Richard Franklin from a screenplay by Tom Holland, Psycho II has the following synopsis: Two decades after the original murders at the Bates Motel, Norman Bates completes his treatment at a mental institution and returns home to find his hotel run down under the management of Warren Toomey.

When folks say they love winter, typically they refer to the earliest months of the season, with winter beginning on Dec. 21 in the northern hemisphere. In those early days of holiday cheer, there is something familiar and comforting about the cold. But eventually the bright lights go away, and the wind howls louder. Eventually, all you’re left with is icy darkness.
Perhaps that’s why so many of the best horror movies are set during the winter season! Utilizing folks’ fear of barren bleakness, and the tedium of being trapped inside becoming lethal, filmmakers who run the gamut from Stanley Kubrick to John Carpenter have imprinted our worst nightmares onto the snow. Below is a list of their frozen works.

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated third feature film, “Nope,” has finally arrived.
The film follows Peele’s first two horror films as a writer/director, 2017’s “Get Out” and 2019’s “Us.” Known for his comedy and leading role in “Key and Peele,” Peele has quickly become a draw for fans as a filmmaker and “Nope,” unlike Peele’s first two films, leans heavily into the sci-fi genre with a blockbuster-sized budget. Peele reteamed with Daniel Kaluuya on the film, which finds a brother and sister duo trying to catch UFOs on camera.
