The Lord of the Rings is unarguably one of the most popular lores in the history of entertainment, massively loved and approved by both fans and critics. Based on the novel series of the same name, the $5.8 billion trilogy shouts one too many reasons for fans to love it, from its breathtaking storylines brought to life to the tremendous portrayal of all the characters.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
But those aren’t the only reasons to love the widely successful franchise, for there is one even more commendable reason why the Lotr saga deserves all the love it can get: The fact that the infamous former film producer Harvey Weinstein actually demanded a big, fat paycheck for the live-action lore, but the franchise bluntly refused to pay him the same!

‘Lord of the Rings’ at 20: Why Peter Jackson’s Trilogy Was One of Hollywood’s Riskiest Projects Ever
After success with several small-scale films, Peter Jackson in 1992 told Variety he was looking for a project “that will really push me.”
He found something that surpassed everyone’s expectations. This month marks the 20th anniversary of Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings,” which kicked off the 2001-2003 film trilogy based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.
In 2000, Jackson told Variety “Lotr” was “the Holy Grail of filmmaking, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
In retrospect, handing this massive project to Jackson seems like a no-brainer: great material for a great filmmaker. But in fact, there were so many unknown factors that it was immediately recognized as one of film history’s greatest gambles.
“I read ‘Lord of the Rings’ first as a 17 year-old,” Jackson told Variety. “I wasn’t one of those avid fans who read it every year. Fran and I were childhood fan of the ‘Sinbad’ movies,...

Ever since Bob Shaye launched the company in 1967 to release arthouse, foreign language and cult films on college campuses, New Line Cinema had been a studio known for out-of-the box choices necessitated by being the last stop for good material. From the audacious early John Waters films like Pink Flamingos to Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, New Line found gems others missed, even after Ted Turner bought the studio. New Line had launched Jim Carrey with The Mask, leveled up Mike Myers with Austin Powers, and given a home to filmmakers like Paul Thomas Anderson with Boogie Nights and David Fincher with Se7en. Shaye had shown his studio to be a place of creative risk taking.
But New Line had never taken a financial risk like The Lord of the Rings trilogy. As a matter of fact, no one else in Hollywood had; three films, each with budgets of $120 million,...

Disney+ is making a significant push into nonfiction territory. Led by its revival of “The Quest” — a fantasy reality-competition show starring teen participants — the company announced a slew of other nonfiction projects at the RealScreen Summit in New Orleans Wednesday.
ABC’s original “The Quest” series aired one season in 2014. In its original format, the show featured a scripted storyline and had contestants interact with actors, but the competitive challenges were unscripted. Like the original series, the Disney+ “Quest” show will be filmed at a castle near Vienna, Australia and mix scripted fantasy elements with unscripted competitions.
The original “Quest” series’ production team is coming back for the Disney+ revival: The upcoming series will be executive produced by Court Five’s Mark Ordesky (“The Lord of the Rings”) and Jane Fleming; Scout Productions’ David Collins, Michael Williams, Rob Eric (“Queer Eye”); and New Media Collective’s Bertram van Munster, Elise Doganieri...

Some of the big screen's most memorable performances came from actors who were cast just before the cameras started rolling...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Good casting makes all the difference in the movie business. You can have a great script, a big budget, and the best director but without the right actors, everything can fall a little flat.
Yet even good casting can go wrong every now and then. Someone who once seemed perfect for a particular role suddenly falls flat once the cameras start rolling, unable to bring to life what they once successfully conveyed during an audition and initial screen test. Other times injuries, contractual obligations, or other unforeseen personal circumstances can put paid to the best-laid plans.
Then there are the dreaded “creative differences” where conflicts between actors and directors end with one of the injured parties exiting a project...

Jason Goes To Hell, the ninth installment in the iconic Friday the 13th movie series, shares some DNA with the Evil Dead franchise.
Mr. Voorhees isn’t opposed to a film crossover, given he’s previously shared the screen with Freddy Krueger of A Nightmare on Elm Street. But the connective tissue between Jason Goes to Hell and those Deadites is much more subtle in nature, as it involves a reference to the famous Necronomicon.
Adam Marcus, director of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, has previously elaborated on his choice to make Voorhees a Deadite, but thanks to a new interview with Syfy Wire (h/t ComicBook.com), the creator dives that little bit deeper into what it was like bringing two horror franchises together, despite the fact that they hail from two different studios.

Get ready stateside filmgoers, because the “phoners” (aka “crazies”) are coming to the Us. Stephen King fans know that the master of macabre doesn’t like using cell phones. His 2006 novel, Cell, is a cautionary tale about what can go wrong by pressing portable phones to our ears and keeping them close at hand in our pockets, and its unflinching subject matter contains flocks of murderous lunatics that would be right at home in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, George A. Romero’s The Crazies, or Simon Clark’s Blood Crazy.
We knew this unique King novel was getting the adaptation treatment, with King co-writing the screenplay and John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in the lead roles, but we’re now one big step closer to seeing it on the silver screen, as Clarius Entertainment has acquired the Us rights to the movie.

"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy producers Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky are set to produce a feature film adaptation of the popular 2009 short film "The Butterfly Circus" for Court Five.
The original short followed a renowned circus troupe traveling through America at the height of the Great Depression. When the circus discovers a man without limbs (played by motivational speaker Nick Vujicic) being exploited at a carnival sideshow, he decides to join the troupe.
The short has been streamed forty million times, has nabbed three dozen festival awards, and has been subtitled or dubbed “The Butterfly Circus” into twenty-five different languages.
Like the short, Josh and Rebekah Weigel are penning the script for the feature which will be directed by Josh Weigel. The pair will also produce and filming aims to begin later this year.
