Won the 1992 Booker Prize for his novel 'The English Patient'.
His brother, Christopher, was a member of the 1964 Canadian Olympic
Bobsled team.

Ghost"
The character name, 'Kip', was apparently his nickname at his school,
Dulwich College. This was a reference to cooking oil stains on his
exercise books which reminded the wags among his fellow pupils of
kipper fish which were canned in such oil.
He and wife Linda Spalding edit the bi-annual literary journal, Brick
(www.brickmag.com)
