Variety reports that Spanish genre veteran Alejandro Amenábar (pictured) is one of the producers on El Mal Ajeno (The Evil Of Others), a new psychological thriller with fantasy overtones. Amenábar’s Himenoptero company is teaming with Mod Producciones and Telecinco Cinema on the project.
To be directed by Oskar Santos Gómez from a script by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, El Mal Ajeno focuses on a doctor who is accused of driving one of his patients to suicide, and becomes a victim of a shooting himself. The leads are Eduardo Noriega, who starred in the Amenábar-directed Open Your Eyes and Thesis as well as The Devil’S Backbone and Nadie Conoce A Nadie, and The Orphanage’s Belén Rueda. We’ll bring you more details as we find ’em out.

An atmospheric, Hitchcockian thriller set aboard a famed train route, Brad Anderson's "Transsiberian" is a genuine sleeper that jump-starts an almost extinct genre.
A restrained Woody Harrelson plays Roy, a good-natured American rail buff who has just completed a church-sponsored mission with his wife, Jessie (Emily Mortimer). They embark on a weeklong train trip from Beijing to Moscow, where they plan to do some sightseeing before heading home to Iowa.
After crossing by train into Siberia, they share a compartment with a sexy Spaniard, Carlos

This week sees the opening of "The Dark Knight." Advance marketing and coverage might have you believe that that, apparently, is all, but there are other films coming out this week well worth your time. (Besides, "The Dark Knight" is totally going to be sold out.)
With Britain in the midst of a youth crime epidemic, Irish investigative reporter Donald McIntyre takes an unflinching look at Dominic Noonan, a granddad of the English gangland who's spent over half his life behind bars. Having legally changed his name to Lattlay Fottfoy (an acronym of the Noonan motto . "Look After Those That Look After You; Fuck Off Those That Fuck Off You"), the openly gay head of Manchester's most notorious crime family shows off his gentler side as a man who uses his reputation to position himself as a "problem solver" more concerned with the

The trailer to Transsiberian has debuted over on Yahoo's site. While not exactly in the "horror" genre, there's a number of reasons I'm reporting on it. Firstly, it's the latest from director Brad Anderson, the filmmaker behind Session 9, The MacHinist (Great, great movie), the Masters Of Horror episode Sounds Like and an upcoming episode of Fear Itself. So, since he's one of the few director's out there doing radically different things on each project, I'll see anything he does.
Secondly, the stellar cast. Woody Harrelson (National Born Killers) , Emily Mortimer, Kate Mara, Eduardo Noriega (who's in 2 of my favorite foreign films Thesis and Open Your Eyes) and Ben Kingsley.
Lastly, the movie looks really good! See for yourself and check out the trailer Here!

From the vantage point of most box-office analysts, Sony's political thriller Vantage Point, will likely be the film to beat this weekend. A political thriller about an attempted assassination told from the point of view of characters played by Matthew Fox, William Hurt, Eduardo Noriega, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, and Forest Whitaker, the film is expected to take in about $20 million. Three other new films are not expected to give it much competition. The New Line comedy Be Kind Rewind, starring Jack Black, opens in just 808 theaters and is likely to take in $8-11 million, say the forecasters. Mgm's Charlie Bartlett, a comedy set in a high school but which is rated R because of drug references, is expected to wind up with $7-10 million; Witless Protection, which was not screened for critics, is arriving with what Daily Variety described as "understated" expectations.
