The pitch for “Champions” is simple enough — a salty, washed-out basketball coach can only avoid jail time for a drunk driving charge by coaching a team of intellectually disabled adults, known as the Friends, and he learns to be a better person along the way — though the director behind it might give some people pause. Wait, Bobby Farrelly? Like, “Dumb and Dumber” and “There’s Something About Mary” and “Stuck on You” Bobby Farrelly? The very same.
Four years after his brother (and frequent collaborator) Peter Farrelly won Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for his “Green Book,” Bobby is offering up his own, slightly unexpected new feature. Based on the Spanish film “Campeones,” Farrelly’s “Champions” casts his “Kingpin” star Woody Harrelson as said washed-out coach, who has to learn a few things when he starts working with a plucky gang of young adults with intellectual disabilities. It’s sweet and straightforward,...

Who would have thought that a Brazil-originated prank consisting of sex noises serenading a live broadcast would get noticed by millions? Well, it has.
A tweet from the UK’s BBC soccer broadcaster Gary Lineker has netted 18 million views thus far – and all it features is a phone discovered hidden in the studio during live TV coverage of the Fa Cup that was activated remotely by pranksters to provide the loud moaning sounds.
The interruption could be heard as Lineker broadcast the third-round replay between Wolves sand Liverpool.
BBC apologized for the interruption Tuesday to “viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening,” BBC said, adding through a spokesperson that the company was investigating the incident.
YouTube prankster Daniel Jarvis appeared to be behind the stunt, according to a video posted to YouTube. He pulled a similar stunt on the BBC five years ago, which was also...

The BBC’s live coverage of an Fa Cup tie between Wolves and Liverpool was plagued by an apparent pornography prank on Tuesday evening in the UK.
In a bizarre incident, Gary Lineker was anchoring live build-up to the replay match at the Molineux Stadium when he was interrupted by what sounded like sex noises coming from the studio.
The former England player looked perplexed by the noise in the studio, joking to fellow presenter Alan Shearer: “I don’t know who’s making that noise … It’s toasty in this studio, it’s a bit noisy as well. I don’t know if somebody is sending something on someone’s phone, if it’s a joke. I don’t know whether you heard it at home.”
Surely no-one’s that excited about an Fa Cup Third Round Replay?...

Aubrey Plaza is putting her goth tendencies to work.
In a new interview with GQ, the “Emily the Criminal” and “The White Lotus” star revealed she is preparing to make her directorial debut with a frightful family-friendly film.

“I’m trying to fill the female Tim Burton slot,” she said of the project.
While the project doesn’t yet have a title, or any specific details, GQ did hint that it would be something along the lines of the family classics “Hocus Pocus” and “Beetlejuice”.
It wouldn’t be Plaza’s first creative foray into the macabre either. She co-wrote the books The Legend of the Christmas Witch and The Return of the Christmas Witch with Dan Murphy.

Aubrey Plaza conjured up some Halloween vibes on her way to the set of "The View" on Wednesday. Just days before the spooky holiday, the "The White Lotus" star took a stroll through New York City in a witch's costume, complete with a pointed black hat and patent leather boots that would make the Sanderson Sisters screech with envy. Nearly unrecognizable, Plaza donned a pair of sunglasses as well as a shaggy waist-length wig in black with a 2000s-esque middle part. The hair blended in seamlessly with her black minidress and sheer cape, which she fanned out behind her while she made her grand entrance.
In November 2021, Plaza released her children's book, "The Legend of the Christmas Witch," which she cowrote with Dan Murphy. To promote the book, Plaza made appearances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Today" in Christmas witch costumes of her own, blending shades of red and...

"Storm clouds may be brewing, but sunny days lie ahead..." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie crime drama called The Parts You Lose, the latest film from filmmaker Christopher Cantwell (Our Footloose Remake). This small town thriller is about a deaf boy from a North Dakota town who befriends a potentially dangerous fugitive. The boy takes him in and helps him recover from an injury, but the cops are starting to close in. Danny Murphy plays Wesley, co-starring with Aaron Paul, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Scoot McNairy, Darcy Fehr, and Stefanie Wiens. This hasn't shown up at any festivals and looks like your average criminal-on-the-run drama, with a few small tweaks to the usual story. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Christopher Cantwell's The Parts You Lose, from Sgf's YouTube: Wesley (Danny Murphy), a young deaf boy, discovers an injured fugitive (Aaron Paul) and secretly helps him recover.

Walking into the screening for Dumb and Dumber To I was really nervous. Was I about to get Phantom Menaced? After all, the first film came out when I was 11 and instantly became a favorite of mine. It sits somewhere in my Top 5 Comedies, alongside Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Blazing Saddles and a couple of others. Over the years, the original 1994 film has become a hallowed classic amongst the people that grew up with it. Now here I am, at 31, about to sit down and watch Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels revisit these classic characters in a new caper. Oh boy...
I have good news:
It didn't suck!
No, really, it didn't. Right off the bat, the laughs started coming and it was clear to see that Carrey and Daniels were giving their all to make this thing fly. Makes sense, too, considering they never had to make this at all.
