- Thomas Middleton was a Jacobean dramatist who wrote numerous plays between 1602 and 1624. His plays are remarkable for their cynical wit and their bleak view of the human race. His best known play is "The Changeling" (written with William Rowley), which is still regularly staged today, and has occasionally been filmed.
