Alex's trek through the film roles of actors who've played the Doctor reaches Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy...
Read the previous part in this series, Doctor Who: the film careers of Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker, here.
In March 1981, as he made his Doctor Who debut, Peter Davison was already one the best known faces on British television. Not only was he the star of both a BBC and an ITV sitcom - Sink Or Swim and Holding The Fort - but as the young and slightly reckless Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great And Small, about the often humorous cases of Yorkshire vet James Herriot and his colleagues, he had cemented his stardom. The part led, indirectly, to his casting as the venerable Time Lord.

Rule One: The Moffat Lies.
Rule One-a: So Does The McGann.
After nearly a year of what showrunner Steven Moffat described as “lying through my teeth”, the prequel to the Doctor Who anniversary episode “The Day of the Doctor” reveals that the one fact that upset people the most is the one that was the biggest lie.
Watch, and squee with me.
Ok, so technically, Paul McGann isn’t in the Anniversary episode proper, so his year-long claim that he wasn’t asked to take part wasn’t quite a lie, but it’s close enough.
And it was released on his birthday, which is just a case of the universe rolling the right way on occasion.
The Sisterhood of Karn made their first appearance in the Tom Baker adventure The Brain of Morbius. The Sisterhood have had a long history with the Time Lords, as described in numerous prose and audio adventures.

Strand Releasing has acquired Us theatrical and VOD rights to baseball documentary "Ballplayer: Pelotero" directed by Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin and Jon Paley. It's the story of two young Dominican Republican baseball players (aka peloteros) as they work to be signed by a professional club on their 16th birthday -- the earliest they become eligible. The film, narrated by John Leguizamo and executive produced by Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, is set for a July 13 release in theaters and on VOD. "Ballplayer: Pelotero" is Finkel, Martin, and Paley's first feature length film. They spent nine months in the Dominican Republic during production. “We are so thrilled to be working with Strand Releasing to bring this story to baseball fans around the country,” said Paley. “Every summer we tune in to see teams stocked with Dominican players, but no one has ever told the story of how they made it there,...

Oh those wacky Canadians. The crew behind Evil Dead: The Musical have decided to raise another horror classic from the dead: Night of the Living Dead. That's right, a live (undead?) stage play is coming to Toronto in 2013. Christopher Bond will direct the book by Trevor Martin and Dale Boyer, and NotLD director George Romero (along with the film's original writer and producer John Russo and Russ Streiner) have signed on as executive producers. Check out a trailer after the jump. The producers of the show promise that, like the film, the play will be in black and white (makeup, stage design, costumes) It will be interactive, with zombies wandering the theater, but keeping things "PG" so all ages...

The undead are coming, rising up from their graves to walk once again among the living. But this time they're not appearing on screens, no. This time they will be shambling across the stage, up close and personal in the upcoming Canadian stage adaptation of George A Romero's Night Of The Living Dead.Directed by Evil Dead: The Musical's Christopher Bond from a script by Trevor Martin and Dale Boyer, the idea of a live version of the undead classic came from the minds of Christopher Harrison and Phil Pattison who - thanks to the efforts of David Daniloff of Daniloff Productions - would soon be joined by NotLD writer and producer John Russo and Russ Streiner as well as George A. Romero himself, who...

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Casey Walker.
Director: Casey Walker.
Writers: Trevor Martin and Christopher Bond.
Cast: Kristopher Turner, Kristen Hager, Crystal Lowe, Shawn Roberts, and Stephen McHattie.
First-time director Casey Walker may very well have a cult classic on his hands. With plenty of experience in the television front, and lots of training with his film making friends, he shows that he has the talent to work in the big leagues.
A Little Bit Zombie will make its world debut at the Victoria Film Festival on February 4th. This movie is a smart rom-com. It cleverly adds to the mythos of what the walking dead can represent on screen. And this motion picture can easily rank up there with other Canadian zombie products like Fido and Pontypool.
Viewers may remember Stephen McHattie from the latter product, and he shows that he is no stranger...
