It's a common belief that the target audience for romance movies are women. Well, that's true, but that doesn't mean a man can't enjoy a good rom-com. Especially if it's made from a man's point of view or focuses on a male gaze.
Now, male Redditors have gathered online to discuss their favorite movies and have discovered 5 of the best romance gems that any man would enjoy. Here they are!
1. The Wedding Singer (1998)
One of Adam Sandler’s best movies to date, The Wedding Singer centers on Robbie Hart, the performer who sings the hits of the 80’s at weddings, and a waitress named Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore.
The actors have been together in many movies since they first played the couple in this one.
“It is without a doubt, my favorite film of his. It has so much heart while still retaining just the right amount of that trademark Sandler silliness.

The last 70 years of science fiction, horror, and fantasy wouldn't just look remarkably different without the works of Richard Matheson, they'd be comparatively barren. Okay, this is a touch hyperbolic, but only a touch! Yes, we'd still have the transporting, thought-provoking works of maestros like Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, and so many others, but could you imagine living in a world sans such essential tales as "The Incredible Shrinking Man," "I Am Legend," "Hell House," and dozens upon dozens of eerily prescient (or just straight up horrifying) short stories? And these weren't just spellbinding reads. They formed the basis for many memorable movies, and, perhaps most influentially, 16 unforgettable episodes of "The Twilight Zone."
Countless writers and filmmakers have cited Matheson as crucial to their development as genre storytellers (Stephen King considers "Hell House" to be "the scariest haunted house novel ever written"), and you could argue that...

Exclusive: Skydance has closed a deal with Mila Kunis (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) to produce and star in The 47 Night Stand, a new film scripted by 4x Emmy nominee Greg Malins.
The project is in the early stages and the logline is being kept under wraps, though it’s described as a fresh and funny take on romance in the tradition of classic favorites.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, alongside Kunis for her Orchard Farm Productions, and Ruben Fleischer. Orchard Farm’s Lisa Sterbakov will serve as executive producer, with Carin Sage overseeing the project for Skydance.

2023 has been one of the most professionally exhilarating years of my life but also one of the hardest. I have been affected deeply by losing Tom Butchart suddenly in June, the childhood friend “the keeper of sacred knowledge and provider of affordable dreams” that I made Sound It Out (my 2011 film) about. We also lost my mother-in-law Pat and documentary titan Jess Search. The impact of these deaths have intertwined with hugely positive experiences that I could never have predicted, leaving me a little discombobulated, determined to live with boldness, albeit with a twinge of melancholy.
In February I received the Chicken & Egg Award, which is given to eight established filmmakers from marginalised genders a year. The recipients form a cohort, are given mentorship, and an unrestricted prize. I spent some of my award going out to New Mexico to experiment with the arts lab at the University of New Mexico...

It’s a classic rom-com trope. A couple gets together for a casual hookup with little sign of chemistry, sometimes outright friction, and hostility. They find they fail to agree on anything, and their personalities clash. Eventually, after a seemingly never-ending rollercoaster of ups and downs, they find their feelings for each other altering. They’re both struck by Cupid’s arrow! These stories may have emanated from some screenwriter’s imagination, but there’s a reason for plots consistently flowing along these lines. Romantic movies are avidly watched because they reflect reality – audiences can’t get enough stories about casual affairs gaining momentum, and blossoming into a stronger bond. Films are also reflecting the reality of so many singles these days, whose default method of looking for hook up opportunities is to rely on online apps or websites. On these virtual platforms, they’ll be guaranteed access to a treasure trove of talent,...

Plenty of haunted, Halloween and holiday options will crop up on Netflix in the month of October. The harvest doesn’t seem too lean despite the almost five-month writers strike that viewers are sure to feel next year, but at least the WGA and AMPTP have reached a deal, and hopefully, SAG-AFTRA is not too far behind. Luckily, Halloween and fall have a classic canon of films and TV shows that stretches back decades, and some of those staple watches will be available through Netflix throughout the month.

In Season 5 of FX and Hulu’s “What We Do In The Shadows,” Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) looks for a vampire who can give him the transformation that Nandor the Relentless has kept from him. But it may not go as planned. The beloved comedy, which takes a mockumentary look at four vampires living in Staten Island, returns on July 14.
Check out the Season 5 trailer of “What We Do In the Shadows”:
Another highly anticipated return coming to Hulu in July is the latest season of long-running animated series “Futurama.” The show’s first four seasons aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, it was then picked up by Comedy Central for three seasons from 2008 to 2013. Now, nearly a decade later, the Mike Judge-created series will return for the first half of the 20-episode Season 8 on July 24 with the original voice cast.

“So, same time next week?” Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams jokes with the others — Steven Yeun (Beef), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Mo Amer (Mo) and John Mulaney (John Mulaney: Baby J) — after a particularly therapeutic hour of conversation in early May. It is THR‘s annual Comedy Actor Emmy Roundtable, and the five men gathered, a mix of top stand-up and scripted talent, use the platform to swap stories and speak candidly about the pressures of the business, the splurges that they made (or urged others to make) and what, exactly, has prompted tears, hives and periods of necessary silence.

One of the experts interviewed in Satan Wants You, a disturbingly compelling documentary making its world premiere at SXSW, points out that, today, the 1980s cultural phenomenon known as the “Satanic Panic” is seen as a joke. Bands of Satanists kidnapping children and eating babies? Ok, such talk is not ha-ha funny. But with the passage of time we can certainly call such accusations absurd. In the moment there was nothing funny about it, and results for many falsely accused individuals were devastating.
In Satan Wants You, directors Sean Horlor and Steve J. Adams lay the blame on two fascinating individuals: Michelle Smith and Dr. Lawrence Pazder. In 1980, the native of Victoria, British Columbia, and her psychiatrist (Pazder) released the book Michelle Remembers, whose cover teased readers with the following description: “The true story of a year-long contest between innocence and evil.” Smith’s account of childhood Satanic ritual abuse...

Sam Smith and Kim Petras's pop collab "Unholy" was a smash hit on TikTok before they even officially released it in September 2022. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall, and the pair won best pop duo/group performance for the song at the Grammys on Feb. 5. But the thing that's made headlines more than their major achievement - as Petras noted in her acceptance speech, she's the first trans woman to win it, and Smith is the first nonbinary person - is the backlash to their Grammys performance of the song, which played with the imagery of hell and even saw Smith wear a devil hat.

It’s a hot soap from ’65, when movies promised raging passion but delivered cheap teases and hypocritical judgments. It’s Suzanne Pleshette’s only starring role, but it doesn’t exploit her bright personality, her sense of humor. John O’Hara’s tale hasn’t much pity for a promiscuous young wife who breaks the rules. Does nymphomania make her a social menace, or is she victimized by a script determined to put the blame on Mame? Costarring Ben Gazzara, Bradford Dillman and Peter Graves.

For 10 years, Jason Segel was in one of the biggest sitcoms on American television. For the last three of them, he knew he had to get out of it. “They were a hard three years,” he remembers, of his time as the big-hearted Marshall in How I Met Your Mother. “I was really, really in need of doing an artistic check-in, and it was no one’s responsibility but my own.”
That show, along with self-scripted movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Muppets, catapulted Segel to late-Noughties comedy superstardom in the US. This was the era of Judd Apatow neuroses and the Seth Rogen-verse; Segel was the classically handsome, 6ft 4in giant of the group. He seemed to have it made: total creative control, immense sums of money, wooing everyone from Emily Blunt to Cameron Diaz to Mila Kunis on film. Something nagged at him, though. “The show was fantastic.

Movies are a medium that plays with your emotions -- for better and for worse. When they're not scaring you out of your skin, most films try to 'woo' you with romance. Human connections form the central basis for most big screen outings, and more often than not, filmmakers want to leave viewers with some form of a happily ever after -- but not always.
Like in real life, some relationships are more complex, nuanced, fractured, and frayed than any third-act resolution can adequately resolve. Our interactions with those we love are frequently messy and not always guaranteed to end well. It's this stirring corner of cinema that can sometimes be the most emotionally affecting to us viewers. After all, there's nothing quite as impactful as seeing something you've experienced yourself first-hand reflected on a giant cinema screen.

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" features some pretty unforgettable scenes, but the one fans probably remember the most clearly is the way the 2008 film begins. Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) gets dumped by his long-term girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) ... while he's stark naked. It's a hilarious and heartbreaking scene, one that is memorable not only for the full-frontal male nudity, but for the vulnerability of that moment. The pain of the breakup is infinitely magnified by the utter humiliation of being given this news while being so, well, exposed. Segel is an incredibly charismatic actor anyway, but from this moment on, we're all undeniably on Peter's side.
It seems like we'll be rooting for the actor once again in his new project for Apple TV+ called "Shrinking." The series follows Segel's grieving therapist Jimmy Laird as he starts telling his patients exactly what he thinks. This method is not approved of by his colleague Dr.

"Veronica Mars" is just one of the countless shows that was canceled far earlier than it deserved. The show, which aired on Upn for two years before moving to The CW for season 3, followed teen private investigator Veronica Mars as she navigates scandals and mysteries in her hometown of Neptune, California. It was a super-smart neo-noir mystery show in a 2000s teen drama's body, and perhaps that's why people underestimated it. "Veronica Mars" was canceled after its third season due to low ratings, and while its loyal fanbase ensured a "Veronica Mars" movie was made in 2014, followed by a Hulu revival in 2019, the show's early death was extremely sad for both fans and the cast and crew at the time.
When the news of the cancellation was fresh, it was particularly hard on star Kristen Bell, according to a TV Guide interview from 2007.

Now that the "Scream" series is under the stewardship of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, we're heading into a new era of Ghostface, with the sixth movie leaving Woodsboro and Sidney Prescott behind, and slashing toward the Big Apple as the Carpenter sisters trying their hardest to start a new life after surviving the previous film. "Scream 5" (aka just "Scream") was structured as a passing of the torch from the franchise started by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson to the new writing/directing duo, and according to star Melissa Barrera, Ghostface has a major advantage given New York City's massive population. Barrera had told Collider that setting the story in NYC is "like 20 times more mortifying, it's awful," and cited the bustling energy as a major contributing factor:
"Because you also see how, in a city like New York City, everyone is kind of doing their own thing and someone is screaming for help,...

Funny, sweet and occasionally pointed, Nicholas Stoller’s Bros (cowritten by star Billy Eichner) is a gay rom-com with a personality crisis. Though it makes lots of jokes at the expense of corporate types who would co-opt gay culture for prestige or water it down for straight consumption, it slowly reveals itself to be almost exactly like every guy-girl love story that has made money in the last thirty years. Described as satire in TIFF materials and elsewhere, it’s anything but. Forget movies that want to squeeze non-straight love into a heteronormative mode: Eichner wants his love story to be even more formula-bound — to be Ephronormative.
That will be exactly what many multiplex-goers want, and what many of the performer’s followers expect: Fans of the riotous Billy on the Street and the aptly named Difficult People might estimate that his love...

Everyone loves a good romantic comedy. They’re the perfect escape from reality, a chance to forget your troubles and believe, just for a moment, in the power of love. But sometimes, you don’t want a movie with all the drama.
You want something light and fun, something that will make you laugh without making you overthink. That’s where the movie “Friends With Benefits” comes in. These movies focus on the friendship between the two main characters, with any romantic entanglements being a secondary concern.
“Friends with Benefits” is a 2011 romantic comedy film directed by Will Gluck and starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. The film follows the story of two friends who decide to start a sexual relationship without involving any emotional commitment.
However, as they get closer, they realize they want more than just casual sex.

Lust and desire are themes that are often associated with vampire movies. Finding a favorite new podcast to follow is process of trial and error. In some ways, it can feel a bit like internet dating. There’s that initial sense of excitement and possibility you get when you scroll through a site like Audible and spot a clever title, cover art or description that strikes your fancy. So you decide to give it a shot and sample a few episodes in the hopes of finding a show that speaks to you on a personal level. On rare occasions, the connection is an instantaneous case of “love at first listen.” But more often than not, the relationship proves to be a relatively short-lived encounter that leaves you wanting just a little bit more.

While most families have somehow forged closer bonds during the pandemic, with older children returning to the nest to “ride out” the lockdowns while making sure all health measures are taken, one problem continues to push loved ones apart, the ever=present scourge of drug addiction. In most of the crime dramas of the last century, addicts filled the gutters and alleyways while the pushers used all matter of violence to control those dark streets. Then a curious thing happened in the last couple of decades. The specter of substance abuse oozed into the supposed-to-be-safe suburbs and even rural areas. Some media commentators have labeled it the “opioid epidemic, an apt subtitle for this new “inspired by true events” family drama. But at its heart, it’s a look at the tested bond between mother and daughter that tries to remain strong during what they hope will be Four Good Days.

Judd Apatow-produced rom-com Forgetting Sarah Marshall is beloved by many, and managed to create so many incredible comedy moments with a cast who seemed happy to take a leap of faith with writer and star Jason Segel in that particular stage of their careers.
Along with Segel, director Nicholas Stoller cast Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Jason Bateman and more in the tale of a jilted boyfriend who is struggling to get over his famous ex, but Segel had written the special part of insufferable rock star Aldous Snow for his close friend Charlie Hunnam, who was coming off Fox’s short-lived sitcom Undeclared – another Apatow-shepherded project.

This mid-‘sixties black comedy from the mischievous George Axelrod defines and dissects ‘crazy California culture’ just as West Coasters were being slandered as godless weird-oh hedonists. It’s partly a sarcastic put-down, citing anecdotal extremes like drive-in churches (how 2020 can you get?), perverse youth encounter groups and mindless beach party movies. But Axelrod’s paints indelible images of maladjusted women of three age groups: Tuesday Weld, Lola Albright and Ruth Gordon. Where Roddy McDowall fits in is anybody’s guess — he’s meant to glue the satire together and instead turns it into a big Question Mark.
