TORONTO -- Canadian music legends Leonard Cohen and Anne Murray on Tuesday were tapped to receive honors by the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame next February. Cohen, best known for classics like "Suzanne" and "Bird on a Wire", will join ragtime composer William Eckstein, big band songwriter Carmen Lombardo, classical composer Lionel Daunais and Quebec songwriter-poet Gilles Vigneault as the latest inductees into the Canadian pantheon of songwriting. Murray will be joined by Quebec singer Lucille Dumont and Canadian recording industry pioneer Herbert Berliner in receiving a legacy award for their support for homegrown songwriters.
