G.O. Parsons, the writer behind the Nicolas Cage-led horror comedy Willy’s Wonderland, is up to his old tricks. Parsons wants to give automated animals another go with the Beast of Bower Boulevard, a three-part digital comic debuting this week. Initially funded on Kickstarter, Beast of Bower Boulevard unfolds in a secluded ski town, where a sheriff’s deputy and his family investigate after things go quiet. Once they reach their destination, they discover the urban area is under attack by a robot dinosaur built by the military!
Beast of Bower Boulevard gives off ’70s and ’80s vibes with a splash of absurdity. Initially written as a screenplay, Parsons converted the script after working with publisher American Mythology on the Willy’s Wonderland comics. While Parsons is thrilled about the Beast of Bower Boulevard stomping onto the comic book page, he’s not ruling out a live-action adaptation if a studio shows interest.

Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) and Armand Assante (Judge Dredd) have signed on to star in the home invasion thriller Misdirection, Deadline reports. Willy’s Wonderland director Kevin Lewis will be taking the helm, working from a script by Lacy McClory, and filming is expected to begin later this year.
Oliver Trevena (Plane) is also in the cast. McClory’s story centers on a desperate couple (Kurylenko and Trevena), who have pulled off a string of high-end break-ins to pay off a mob debt. When they attempt to rob their latest victim, they find themselves caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse where the tables are turned and the hunters become the hunted.
Lewis had this to say about the project: “I am over the moon to be working with Olga, Armand, Oliver, and the rest of our amazing and talented team on crafting a tight, edge-of-your-seat thriller that will entertain audiences worldwide.

After nearly a decade of talking about it, the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie is finally coming our way later this year, thanks to the folks at Blumhouse. The company behind hits like "The Black Phone" and "The Purge" is bringing the beloved series of video games to life, meaning some animatronic murder bears will be gracing the silver screen this Halloween season. But a small movie from a couple of years ago may have beat Blumhouse to the punch, and Nicolas Cage was the man doing the punching.
In early 2021, as the pandemic was still raging on, Screen Media Films released "Willy's Wonderland," which features Cage as an unnamed janitor with no dialogue in a film that, as it happens, seems to resemble "Five Nights at Freddy's" an awful lot. Kolkata, Feb 24 (Ians) Mohammedan Sporting allayed some of the relegation fear with a superb win 6-4 win against table-toppers Sreenidi Deccan under their new coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo showed in the I-League 2022-23 here on Friday.
Mohammedan Sporting footballers have also been guilty of wasting too many scoring opportunities in many a match, languishing at the tenth spot on the Hero I-League table as a result. That is how Kibu Vicuna lost his job. But on Friday, in the very first match under the new coach, Nikola Stojanovic and Co. converted almost every chance they created.
The kick-off whistle was still ringing in the ears of the few thousand Mohammedan Sporting fans when they got a corner from the right flank. It would be tough to find a better-planned and better-executed set piece. Nikola delivered not to the goalmouth melee but to Mirlan Murzaev, who was standing away from the madding crowd,...

Protests were underway around the nation on Friday night following the release of harrowing footage showing Memphis officers beating, tasing and pepper-spraying Tyre Nichols — brutality that led to the 29-year-old’s death three days later. Five officers were fired and have since been charged with second-degree murder in the case.
In Memphis, protesters blocked the Memphis & Arkansas Bridge, where Interstate 55 crosses the Mississippi River. Other groups have massed along highways and on surface streets, with chants of “Say his name” audible in some scenes. Demonstrators are reportedly calling for the...

"The Devil himself never takes possession, he sends one of his agents." Screen Media Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled The Accursed, made by filmmaker Kevin Lewis (of Nicolas Cage's Willy's Wonderland most recently). Not to be confused with the other horror film also known as The Accursed released last year - this one is about a demon taking over an old woman in a cabin. Elly is asked by a family friend to look after an elderly woman who is living in a remote cabin for a few days. She agrees, but soon discovers there is a demon hiding in the woman just waiting to break free. Uh oh. The horror film stars Mena Suvari, Sarah Grey, Sarah Dumont, Meg Foster, and Alexis Knapp. This looks like it does get super horrifying at the end when the demon wants out and is tired of waiting.

The Directors Guild of America has raised concerns about safety issues on a new film from the production company behind “Rust,” the project that was halted after a fatal shooting last fall.
The guild determined that “Oak” — now shooting in Thomasville, Ga. — failed to meet its safety standards. The DGA issued a statement that did not specify the reasons behind its decision. But a source close to the project said that the stunt coordinator had left the film early in the production for another job. His brother, who is also a stunt coordinator, took over that role.
It does not appear that there were any safety incidents on the set.
The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.

The Directors Guild of America has ordered its members to stop work on production of a film called “Oak,” citing safety concerns. Thomasville Pictures, one of the production teams that had worked on the Alec Baldwin film “Rust,” is among the companies backing the project.
DGA members were informed late on March 15 that any members working on the low-budget, teen genre film, which is currently filming in Thomasville, Georgia, could face union discipline.
“Representatives of the DGA informed the producers of specific safety requirements that needed to be satisfied for the film to be covered under a DGA agreement,” a DGA spokesperson told TheWrap. “The producers failed to meet those conditions.”

Citing safety concerns, the DGA has ordered its members to stop working on Oak, a low-budget film that’s been shooting in Georgia.
“Oak is not a DGA-covered project,” a guild spokesman said. “Representatives of the DGA informed the producers of specific safety requirements that needed to be satisfied for the film to be covered under a DGA agreement. The producers failed to meet those conditions.”
The film’s producers, Thomasville Pictures, is one of the companies involved in the ill-fated production of Rust, whose cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot to death while filming in New Mexico last October.
The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the story, noted that following the DGA’s order, director Shane Drake dropped out of the Oak project and been replaced by executive producer Kevin Lewis.

American truckers have taken the cue from their Canadian counterparts and are plotting to descend on Washington, D.C., to protest Covid-19 mandates. The threat of a convoy convergence mucking up the gears of the nation’s capital even prompted the Pentagon on Tuesday to authorize the deployment of 700 National Guard troops, who will be unarmed, and 50 tactical vehicles. The question now is what exactly they’re going to have to respond to over the course of their deployment, which is slated to last for two weeks or so.

One night Josh asks to keep the light on as his father helps him get to bed. Josh hopes to exercise a little autonomy in his life, but Frank resists, seeing the request as proof that Josh is still a young child in need. Kevin Lewis will follow up “Willy’s Wonderland” by directing “The Accursed,” a new horror movie about demonic possession that its creators predict will be like if “Sam Raimi and Dario Argento had a love child and James Wan was its uncle.”
Mena Suvari (“American Beauty”), Sarah Grey (Netflix’s “The Order” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow”), and Alexis Knapp (“Pitch Perfect” franchise) head up the cast, which also includes Meg Foster (“The Lords of Salem”) and Sarah Dumont (“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse”). “Willy’s Wonderland,” an action-comedy horror film, became a pandemic era favorite when it was released on VOD and in limited theatrical release last February.
Rob Kennedy (“Midnight Man”) penned the screenplay for “The Accursed.” According to the official description, it centers on a young woman who faces a horrifying past. When her estranged mother dies by suicide, Elly (Grey) is forced to return home from volunteering as a nurse abroad.

There’s a sense that Nicolas Cage is very happy in his work. Just look at the fun he had on the set of Ghost Rider, taking breaks to view the dailies and laugh at his own maniacal image. The prolific actor seems motivated by a need to do cool stuff, whether that’s buying dinosaur skulls and European castles or going headlong into just about every genre you can think of, from action and drama to war, horror and even romance.
Without that stimulation, Cage says, he would be like a ‘hyperactive Doberman’. Yet this self-deprecation belies an actor who’s passionately earnest about his craft, describing his brain and body as his ‘instrument’. This would sound terribly pompous coming from anyone else, but with Cage it doesn’t, such is his affable sincerity. This curious mix of dramatic conviction and electric idiosyncrasy has seen the 57-year-old actor create...

Yes, we’re definitely in the middle of awards season and folks are beginning to forecast the upcoming Oscar nominations. But I can assure you of one thing — “Willy’s Wonderland” likely won’t be nominated for Best Film. And filmmaker Kevin Lewis is definitely okay with that. In a new interview with The Playlist Podcast, the director of the Nicolas Cage horror-comedy, “Willy’s Wonderland” talks about his love of genre films, the mystique that surrounds Cage, and his recent near-death experience battling Covid.

As the specialty box office space continues to navigate the digital VOD and day and date waters, numbers are trickling in but, again, they don’t necessarily give a solid reflection of a film’s box office performance as they did in the before-times (aka pre-Covid). On this President’s Day holiday weekend, award season faves like A24’s Minari dropped in approximately 61 markets before heading to PVOD on February 26 while Sony Pictures’ French Exit had a very limited theatrical run. Both films did not reveal solid box office numbers, but the news that they are physically in theaters is a feat in itself.
However, STXfilms’ own awards season pic The Mauritanian directed by Kevin Macdonald opened in 245 theaters and earned an estimated $144K for its 3-day weekend and is projected to bank $170K for the holiday weekend. The film is based on the book “Guantanamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Slahi and stars Jodie Foster,...

Kevin Lewis is the director of “Willys Wonderland” starring Nicolas Cage as The Janitor, which is available today on VOD.
Who is The Janitor? Is he a quiet drifter who stumbles upon a band of murderous, satanic-possessed animatronics? Yes. Is he Nicolas Cage, who is not only one of the most amazing actors, but a wonderful partner to make a movie with? Absolutely yes. Is he G.O. Parsons, who wrote a wholly original script? 100 percent yes. Is he Jeremy Daniel Davis, who worked tirelessly every day for years to see “Willy’s Wonderland” finally get to the finish line? A resounding yes.
Is he the producers who pushed relentlessly hard to see this movie get made? No doubt yes. Is he Emoi, who not only gave Willy a voice that wasn’t written on the page, but also composed a pulse-pounding soundtrack that is the heart and soul of “Willy’s Wonderland?...

Directed by Kevin Lewis, from a script by G.O. Parsons, this defiantly out-of-the-box and in some ways rather cunning grunge horror film, set from dusk till dawn inside a run-down family fun center, is a tongue-in-cheek thriller that knows how preposterous it is.
The monsters, you see, are the kiddie palace’s resident menagerie of towering animatronic mascots. They’re possessed by evil spirits, and they’ll tear your head off. But even as that sounds like the stuff of overripe horror parody, “Willy’s Wonderland,” taking its cue from films like “Leprechaun,” “Two Thousand Maniacs,” and Tobe Hooper’s “The Funhouse”, treats its homicidal-furry-mascot premise as if it were a pre-ironic ’80s hack-’em-up. The movie is a canny ghoulie potboiler that whisks you along. And that, in no small part, is because of the other arresting creature at its center.

Director Kevin Lewis and writer G.O. Parsons have discovered time-travel without physical displacement. In my humble opinion Willy’s Wonderland is easily the best movie of Nic Cage’s career! I thought it was impossible for Nicolas Cage to get back to the winning ways of the mid 90s… Remember that 5 year run when he dropped The Rock, Con Air, Face Off, Kiss of Death, Snake Eyes and a couple more? Seriously between 1995 and 2000 Cage made about 9 absolute bangers and won an Oscar. Since then he has been stuck in a somewhat middling ground with a 50/50 ratio of good to bad movies.
Then somewhere around 2016-17 Cage seemingly decided it is time to just embrace the nonsense. Mom and Dad came out and banged, Mandy, Colour Out of Space, Primal, Jiu Jitsu and now Willy’s Wonderland. I’m not saying he has stopped making misfires but,...
