- While a graduate student in the UCLA M.F.A. Acting Program, he adapted, directed and starred in a scene from Miguel Pinero's "Short Eyes," which won "Best Scene" award in the 1979 Hugh O'brien Acting Awards.
- While playing primarily "heavies" as a young actor, Vince ironically was a Conscientious Objector during the Vietnam War, and performed two years of alternative civilian service, working with the handicapped at Goodwill Industries, and fighting forest fires alongside felons from San Quentin and Folsom Prison in the "California Ecology Corps," which was later transformed into the "California Conservation Corps."
