‘Secret Invasion’ premiered last summer, receiving mixed reactions. Despite criticism for its rushed and nonsensical adaptation of a popular Marvel comic storyline, the show garnered nominations for several smaller awards. Despite the show’s flaws, the cast delivered outstanding performances, leading to Don Cheadle winning the NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor in his role as James Rhodes. Rhodes’ storyline, revealing him as a Skrull, was somewhat predictable, with suspicions arising even before the show’s release.
Additionally, Sherri Shepherd hosted a gala event recognizing talent across 20 categories. Cord Jefferson and Ava DuVernay secured Image Awards for outstanding screenplay and best director respectively. ‘Abbott Elementary’ received two awards, alongside other successful productions such as ‘The Color Purple,’ ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.’ Notable winners also included Chloe Bailey, Ayo Edebiri, and Keith Powers.
Shepherd was honored with the Outstanding Talk Show Host Award, thanking everyone for her journey.

‘Secret Invasion’ was released last summer and the reactions to it were mixed at best. The show failed to properly adapt a famous comic storyline and was widely criticized for being nonsensical and rushed. Still, this didn’t mean that the show wouldn’t be nominated for plenty of smaller awards. Despite the criticism of the show, the cast remained superb and due to that Don Cheadle in the role of James Rhodes recently won the NAACP Image Award for best supporting actor in the show.
Rhodes was part of a somehow predictable twist that he was a Skrull all along, something that was suspected even before the show was released.

Sports in 2020 have effectively been canceled. The coronavirus outbreak has made it so people can no longer congregate in large groups or come into close physical contact with one another. Many sports leagues are trying their best to resume play, but new outbreaks and difficult logistics threaten to keep the sports world benched at least until 2021. Thankfully, HBO Max is stepping up to the plate (or the free throw line) by adding Space Jam to its stream on July 1.
Michael Jordan has been quite the star of this sports-less summer. ESPN’s 1998 Chicago Bulls documentary The Last Dance captured the attention of those hungry for athletic action. The Micheal Jordan docuseries was the talk of the TV world in the spring, reigniting the debate about who is the greatest basketball player of all-time and creating new intrigue around Jordan’s infamous “flu” game.

It happens just a minute into the final episode of The Last Dance. It's 1998, and the Chicago Bulls are in the NBA Finals. Michael Jordan is absolutely jamming with his headphones on (and plugged into a Discman) while boarding the team bus, complete with shades blocking his eyes. Someone on the bus asks him what he's listening to, and a very excited Jordan replies: "Kenny Lattimore. Brand new. Not even out yet. He's a friend of mine."
The moment in question spawned an entire Twitter account called @jumpmanjamming, dedicated to memeing the moment with a variety of songs matched up to the clip. But if you want to watch the clip with the actual Lattimore song playing, you need to queue up "Days Like This" from his From the Soul of Man album, which was released later in 1998. After viewers took to Twitter to find out just what unreleased song Jordan was jamming to,...

En route to this 10-part docuseries’ foregone conclusion, the final two episodes cover some by now well-worn territory: Michael Jordan’s “innate personality is to win at all costs.” Michael Jordan holds grudges (see: his feelings on Utah’s Bryon Russell). Michael Jordan owns many cars, most of them red, with a seemingly unlimited supply of vanity plates (this week: a Porsche 911 Turbo S, license plate Air). Michael Jordan has smoked so many cigars he should not be alive right now (but, of course, he is superhuman). Fans in 1990s...

Fresh off his shot at rappers, Eric Benet says black R&B artists are getting shaded ... by white singers and the music biz, in general, and he calls it a clear case of history repeating itself. The singer was on Van Lathan's 'The Red Pill' podcast when he broke down the current state of his genre. Eric says R&B's still a big draw, but mostly when the songs don't come from black singers.

After twenty years of sold out Christmas tours and five celebrated holiday albums within as many years, saxophonist Dave Koz has done his share – and then some – to help to make the season bright.

This year he has reassembled his original holiday lineup – pianist David Benoit, trumpeter Rick Braun and acoustic guitarist Peter White – for the making of Dave Koz and Friends 20th Anniversary Christmas, an album that features brand new recordings of classic Christmas songs.

It's always amazing to me how fast our favorite Disney stars seem to grow up. I'm sure all of you are familiar with the kids series "Sister, Sister", right? If not, it was a cute little sitcom starring Tia Mowry and her twin sister Tamera. In any case, Tia recently wed Corey Hardict, 32. The two have been dating for nearly six years. The couple got engaged last Christmas, Hardict giving her a ring that he designed himself. The wedding had a live performance by R&B singer Kenny Lattimore who sang "For You". Inside, you can check out a few photos from the ceremony and Mrs. Mowry is looking goregous as ever. What do you guys think?
