At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson, Anna Karenina) discovers he can travel in time. Tim’s father (Bill Nighy, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can’t change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life. The idea for About Time came from a conversation that director Richard Curtis (Pirate Radio, Love Actually) had with a friend about what they would do if they were told that they had only 24 hours left to live. … Continue reading →

After another terrible New Year's party, 21-year-old Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) finds out from his dear old dad (the awesome Bill Nighy) that all the men in the family have the ability to travel through time: specifically, their own (they can't change history though.) And what does Tim want to do with his newfound ability? Get a girlfriend, naturally. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy. The film does turn out to be very funny and above all, extremely heartwarming, so bring lots of tissues. Fun fact: Domhnall is the son of Brendan Gleeson, who played "MadEye" Moody in the Harry Potter series! The dramedy also stars the always charming Rachel McAdams, Lydia Wilson and Lindsay...

As far as I'm concerned, Richard Curtis is three-for-three. In the realm of pleasant, any day watches he has a knack for the appealing. Love Actually is a personal favorite and easily Curtis' best; Pirate Radio is a bit rough around the edges, but still an enjoyable watch; and now About Time is sweet, solemn, funny, romantic and just an overall good movie. Just don't try and get caught up in the time travel mechanics, I'm still not sure I have it entirely figured out. To that time travel part of the story, Curtis tackles it head on and very matter of factly. Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) is told at the age of 21 by his father (Bill Nighy) that he can travel in time. No bullsh*tting around, go upstairs in the closet, focus on a moment in time, poof you're there. He reluctantly gives it a shot, it works,...

They can relive any moment of their life again and even change things for the better. For Tim, that means winning the heart of Mary (Rachel McAdams), the would-be love his of life. Who’s up for a romantic comedy as we head into the Holiday Season?
For more than three decades, filmmaker Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral) has crafted his signature voice in the world of movies and television, giving audiences unforgettable characters who have alternately allowed us to laugh at our ever-so-human foibles and to share a tear at the extraordinary journeys that accompany our ordinary lives.
Now, with About Time, Curtis gives us his most personal film to date.

Get November 1st on your calendars, because you (or someone you love) is about to find out their new favorite film, About Time. Richard Curtis is after you again, and he’s working with fan (and my) favorite Bill Nighy again, along with Rachel McAdams, and Tom Hollander, and this one could be far and away his best… if it doesn’t go completely wrong.
This one has had me since the first trailer, and whether my wife has watched Love Actually 5,000 times or not, Curtis hasn’t always been my absolute favorite. This one looks incredible though, and in case you need a bit more sell to get you in the mood, the film has released some more images.

Movie: About Time; Cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Lindsay Duncan, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Richard Cordery; Director: Richard Curtis; Rating: **1/2 - Watch for a few good laughs.
Set in a characteristically middle-class English milieu, "About Time" is a sci-fi romantic comedy whose premise is very much on the lines of "Back to the Future" or "The Time Traveller's Wife", where the protagonist can travel back in time.
In an idyllic sea-side town in Cornwall, Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) is like any other ordinary boy leading an ordinary life. He is adorably geeky but embarrassingly incompetent.

★★★☆☆ "For me, it was always going to be about love." That's Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) in a voiceover at the start of Richard Curtis' About Time (2013). On his 21st birthday, Tim discovers from his dad (Bill Nighy) that all the men in his family can time travel. What will he use the gift for, asks his father. "I'd like a girlfriend", Tim replies. What follows is a string of bumbling attempts to get into the pants of Kate Moss devotee Mary (Rachel McAdams). Their first date is erased after some space-time shenanigans, so our fledgling Time Lord engineers subsequent meetings until they wind up in bed - a night that's replayed over and over.
With Tim's flux capacitor firmly in stud gear, this plot development feels like a faintly creepy addition to some highly predictable Curtis fluff, but both Gleeson and McAdams have enough charm to carry it off.

It seems that Rachel McAdams has a type. But while other people might look for health or humour in a potential partner, the one-time Mean Girl seems to go for men who can travel in time. Having waited for Eric Bana in The Time Traveler’s Wife, a marriage of timelines that spanned almost the entirety of both of their lives, McAdams here has Brendan Gleeson’s son revising his own history in an attempt to be with her.

If you had a package that was stolen right from your front door, what would you do? Think about your answer, because Phoenix resident Tim Lake has already claimed the mantle of best response ever! His security camera picked up a woman grabbing an Amazon package from right outside his house and scampering away. But rather than just filing a police report, Lake took matters into his own hands with sarcastic Wanted posters and a tongue-in-cheek vendetta against the Dog the Bounty Hunter lookalike who made off with his coffee pods and ice trays.

Another trailer has been released for the charming looking time travel romantic comedy About Time. The movie was directed by Richard Curtis and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, and Margot Robbie. Curtis directed Love Actually, which I have to say is at the top of my list of favorite romantic comedies. About Time looks like it will be a fun one. Here's the detailed synopsis:
At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Gleeson) discovers he can travel in time...
The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim's father (Nighy) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can't change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life—so he decides to make his world a better place...by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as you might think.

Starring Rachel McAdams, Domhnall Gleeson and a time-porting MacGuffin, About Time combines many of the things we know and love about Richard Curtis (offbeat romance! Laughs! Pop songs! Salty language!) with some that aren't so immediately associated with the New Zealand-born director. Namely time-porting MacGuffins. The time-travelling comedy romance has a new trailer for you. Some films come with their audiences already owning tickets, and Richard Curtis’ upcoming About Time is one of them. Just connecting Love Actually to the film is all you need, but then throw in Bill Nighy being endearing, and add the charm of Domhnall Gleeson, who seems to have been born from Curtis’ imagination, and this film is an absolute lock. At least, it looks that way from the trailer.

Richard Curtis made his feature directorial debut back in 2003 with Love Actually. He followed it up with 2009’s brilliant The Boat That Rocked. And this year, he returns behind the camera for his third outing to bring us About Time.
Led by Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson, the film is by far one of the year’s most promising films, particularly amongst those coming out of Britain.
With its March release date fast approaching, we’re expect the first trailer to land very soon. And in the meantime, we’ve got another great new image of McAdams and Gleeson in the leads to share, following the first official image we saw late last year.
