Mike Epps' big Hollywood break came when he starred alongside Ice Cube in the 2000 stoner comedy "Next Friday," the sequel to 1995's "Friday." From there, the actor gained roles in many hit films and released a number of comedy specials. "It was a miraculous leap," Epps told Hollywood.com of his "Next Friday" role in 1999, a month before the movie hit theaters.
In the first "Friday," Craig (Ice Cube) gets fired from his job on his day off for allegedly stealing boxes. This leaves his schedule wide open to try weed for the first time with friend and pothead, Smokey (Chris Tucker), which gets them in hot water with drug dealer Big Worm (Faizon Love). At the end of the movie, Craig does the whole neighborhood a favor and knocks out the local bully, Deebo (Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr.).

As moviegoers hurried into the Cineworld Leicester Square cinema in London on Thursday evening, eager to catch final screenings before what could be a six-month closure, some staff couldn’t believe the beeline of customers before them.
“I wasn’t expecting all these people,” says one slightly stunned front-of-house employee from behind a mask, glancing nervously over his shoulder. Staff have received strict instructions not to speak to press, and most comply, fearful that doing so will affect any potential redundancy pay.
It’s been just over five days since most Cineworld employees discovered, via social media, that their jobs were at risk as the company planned to temporarily shutter all U.K. and U.S. cinemas, affecting some 45,000 jobs. For the 5,500 impacted in the U.K., there’s little clarity on prospects after the credits roll on tonight’s final screening. New reports indicate that some salaried and contracted...

While John Wick co-director David Leitch (also the director of the upcoming Deadpool 2) may not have returned for the second chapter of Kenau Reeves’ continuing, head shot heavy adventures, he’s clearly not done with stone cold master assassins, taking the helm of the Charlize Theron starring Atomic Blonde. Based on Anthony Johnson and Sam Hart’s graphic novel The Coldest City, Theron takes the lead as Agent Lorraine Boughton, MI6’s most lethal assassin who is tasked by her superiors with delivering a priceless dossier out of Berlin. The first red band trailer has come our way, giving us a taste of what to expect. The tone of this movie is hard to ferret out, since this really is a trailer of two halves with the dark and gritty first half soon giving way to a much more playful, funny tone in the second (set to the incredibly...

Saturday October 3rd in Houston, Texas, current Ufc light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his newly won title against Alexander Gustafsson, the man who pushed former champion Jon Jones the furthest (back at Ufc 165 in Toronto). It’s absolutely the most bizarre match-up imaginable. Cormier just won the title from Anthony Johnson in the Spring, following Jon Jones being stripped of his title after hitting a pregnant woman’s car with his own, and fleeing the scene. After the fact, the fighter returned to the vehicle to collect money, only to run off again, leaving behind evidence of drugs.
Cormier had just lost to Jones in January, so it was a second chance for “D.C.” Now it’s Gustafsson’s second chance: he lost to Johnson, the man Cormier defeated to win the vacant title, back in January. Sound like a Ufc version of musical chairs yet?...

The Ufc has acted, and acted decisively, in the wake of Jon Jones’ felony arrest and pending charges stemming from a multi-vehicle accident the fighter allegedly caused this past Sunday: he has been stripped of his Ufc title, and is suspended from the promotion indefinitely. The troubled champion is, in fact, no longer a champion at all.
It’s a shocking move, and a more serious punishment than most really expected, despite the severity of the case, which saw Jones run a red light, crash into the car of a pregnant woman (breaking her arm), then flee the scene on foot, leaving drugs and paperwork linking the rental car to him behind. Jones, however, has had multiple scandals outside of the octagon despite being flawless inside it since becoming champion (the promotion’s youngest ever) in March 2011. Since that time, the fighter, now twenty-seven years old,...

A bad week just got worse for Jon Jones. After rumours began swirling that his title fight with Anthony Johnson at Ufc 187 was off, media and fans worked themselves into a frenzy as details of a drug fueled car crash involving multiple vehicles came to light – a crash from which Jones fled.
At that point, no one knew all the facts. Was it indeed Jones? Local police in Albuquerque, New Mexico initially wouldn’t say. What about rumours that drugs were at the scene? Was anyone hurt? What was the Ufc’s position?
Then police, after a media storm erupted, admitted they were looking for Jones, but only for questioning, as a person of interest. That soon changed. Hours later, he was upgraded to suspect; soon after that, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and arrangements were made via Jones’ legal counsel to turn himself in.

Ufc on Fox 12 had a fair number of big names spread throughout its card: Robbie Lawler, Matt Brown, Anthony Johnson, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (a.k.a. Lil Nog). Bobby Green, Josh Thompson, and Clay Guida are all guys who are capable of headlining or co-headlining an event, and all of them were packed onto the main card last night.
Some fighters, like Lawler and Thompson, are still cashing in on Strikeforce contracts, while others, like Brown and Guida, have worked their way up through the Ufc ranks to get to the point where they can earn a decent wage.
A number of fighters went home happy even in defeat, while others, despite hefty win bonuses, might not have banked what you would expect for a top draw.
Payouts in the Ufc are always an interesting situation, since so much depends on how good a contract an agent can procure for a fighter,...

Ufc on Fox 12 took place live from San Jose, CA Saturday night, and despite a slow start, the main card ensured there was a solid night of action to enjoy.
Headlined by a title eliminator between “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and Matt “The Immortal” Brown, Ufc on Fox 12 started slow, with seven of the first eight bouts going to decision. Some of these were entertaining, such as Jorge Masvidal’s defeat of The Ultimate Fighter alum Daron Cruishank, or a women’s catchweight bout (originally set for strawweight) between Julianna Lima and Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Some, however, lost the crowd in attendance, like Patrick Cummin’s sound wrestling-based drubbing of the returning Kyle Kingsbury, who had not fought since 2012 and showed signs of considerable ring rust.

On a few occasions, many writers have labeled a Ufc event on Fox as the best card of the year on paper. We heard it for Ufc on Fox 5 and just recently for Ufc on Fox 11. Now the Ufc is on their twelfth show for Fox and it’s being considered as the best card on paper. That is completely understandable given the matchups on the card.
Besides Michael Johnson, no injuries have derailed this card unlike past Fox events. It will be headlined by a number one contender’s bout in the welterweight division between Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown. I’m ecstatic that the Ufc is using Fox to showcase number one contender fights in popular divisions. That is the best way to keep fans interested, if you can’t have a title fight on the card.
Anthony Johnson is back to face the returning Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

The Wsof has had a string of successes of late, including a deal with NBC TV that will get a couple of their shows on network television. There’s big things ahead for the company, who now have arguably as many notable names on their roster as Bellator, thanks to picking up former Ufc fighters including Jon Fitch, Yushin Okami, Jake Shields, Melvin Guillard, Rousmir Palhares and others.
They’re the number three Mma promotion in the world at the moment, and have branched out into other countries (there’s Wsof Canada, Central America, and Japan), setting the stage for an eventual true world series of Mma. The Ufc and the Wsof have maintained a pretty civil relationship thus far, in comparison to the Ufc’s tumultuous public relations with number two Mma promotion Bellator, and to date the Ufc has brought back a couple of big names that had...

The skeletons of 63-year-old twin brothers Andrew and Anthony Johnson have been found in the brothers' Chattanooga home, three years after they are believed to have died.
Twin Brothers Found Dead
Chattanooga police entered the Johnson’s home on Acorn Court on March 29 and found each of the brothers dead, sitting in a recliner chair in the living room, reported Wrcb. There were no obvious signs of foul play or other evidence that led police to any obvious cause for their deaths. From the remains, it was determined that they’d been dead since 2011. Toxicology tests are pending.
The brothers lived a quiet, private, even hermetic life. One of them was reportedly mute, but neither brother was thought to have suffered from any kind of mental illness. They were rarely seen except for when they were tending to their lawn.

Lindsay Lohan is admitting she "screwed up" and drank after her last stay in rehab. On last night's episode of Lindsay, the 27-year-old actress was confronted about relapsing by her life coach Aj Johnson. "I thought we were friends, why are you asking me this on camera?" a disgruntled Lohan asked Johnson before insisting she was still sober. Johnson said that mom Dina Lohan accused her daughter of drinking. Furthermore, Johnson found a bottle of wine in Lohan's apartment. After initially denying she had drank, Lohan admitted to relapsing. "I had a glass of wine, and that was it," she admitted in a one-on-one interview. "I just had so much guilt. It's Ok to admit it....

Staying sober is a delicate process and during the latest episode of “Lindsay,” Lindsay Lohan admitted that since rehab she’s consumed alcohol.
During a conversation with sober coach Aj Johnson, the “Mean Girls” got defensive when questioned about her infamous “reaching for a bottle of wine” photo taken last year.
Lindsay snapped back, "I thought we were friends, why are you asking me this on camera?” Aj answered, “Your mom told me that you had been drinking."
And after initially denying the accusation, Lohan conceded- "I rushed into a relationship... and I jumped right into a relationship where we weren't on the same page. I wasn't considering the fact that the person I was seeing does drink and yeah... I had some wine. Yeah, f*ck it, I screwed up and that's Ok."...

Remember Game Stick, the Android gaming console set to give Ouya a run for it's crowd-funded money? Well, the Kickstarter campaign is coming to a close and the PlayJam team has revealed the system's final design, along with a new peripheral-ready docking station.
"It's hard to believe that we launched Game Stick just a few short weeks ago. The Kickstarter campaign has been a roller coaster of a ride and one which has given us more feedback than we could ever have possibly imagined." says PlayJam's Cmo, Anthony Johnson, "We have been able to take that input and literally better shape our product to give our backers a truly bespoke creation – one which has been designed by the Kickstarter community that backed it."

Before I write another word about Johny Hendricks, I have a confession to make.
I am biased.
I am an Oklahoma State alumnus, born and raised in beautiful Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the dinner table each night as a young Lucky, we thanked God for Henry Iba, Eddie Sutton, and the entire Smith wrestling dynasty (LeRoy, John, Pat, & Mark) with their 7 national championships and 2 Olympic gold medals. I take great pride in the 34 national champions and 134 individual Ncaa championships of my school and alma mater. And our Johny is part of that bedrock.
When I see a Cowboy wrestler with a freaking spitter on stage at a Ufc presss conference, rocking an epic beard, and his easy going folksy accent, I know that’s my guy. That’s a Good Ole Boy. Now with all of that being said, I can objectively and emphatically state:
Johny Hendricks Is Getting Screwed

On the Series Premiere of "Chicagolicious" (Mon., 9 p.m. Et on Style) viewers met the staff of Aj Salon in Chicago.
Owner Aj Johnson and his staff already have a high profile roster of celebrity clients and now they are determined to transform Aj into a national brand.
However, friction between staff members could derail their efforts. While working at a ritzy gala veteran hair stylist Valincia got into it publicly with salon newcomer, make-up artist Katrell.
As the insults flew and the arms started windmilling, Aj, models and the other stylists looked on in horror.
To make the situation even worse, the feuding duo -- and their gesticulations -- could be clearly seen by the guests on the floor below. Backlit against a white screen they looked like two fighting shadow puppets.

Between the booty walking on TruTV's "The Wiener's Circle" and the controversy surrounding the filming of VH1's new Chicago-centric "Mob Wives," Chicago can't seem to pull itself out of the reality show spotlight as of late.
Soon, the city will also be at the center of "Chicagolicious," a new "salon docu-series" spin-off from the Style Network's "Jerseylicious."
The network announced last week that "Chicagolicious," focused on the Ajes salon, will premiere Sunday June 3 at 9 p.m. Et. The West Loop salon, owned by Aj Johnson, reportedly counts Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman among its clients.
"'Jerseylicious' has become appointment television for Style's passionate viewers, and with 'Chicagolicious,' we have found an eclectic set of characters, including the beautiful city of Chicago, to deliver a new twist and expand our top performing franchise series," Salaam Coleman Smith, president of the Style Network, said in a statement announcing the 10-episode series.

The Style Network has picked up Chicagolicious, a spinoff from the network’s flagship docu-series Jerseylicious, which will premiere on June 3 after Jerseylicious. Produced by Jerseylicious producer Endemol USA, the 10-episode Chicagolicious is set in the Windy City and follows Aj Johnson, owner of Aj’s of Chicago, whose clientele includes Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman. The green light for Chicagolicious comes as Jerseylicious‘ current fourth season is ranking as the unscripted series’ most-watched with an average of 591,000 total viewers. This is the second Jerseylicious spinoff series on Style, following Glam Fairy.

The Ufc's Ultimate Fighter (Tuf) reality TV series returned to our screens last Friday night, but arrived with a twist -- as well as the fastest knockout in its history, at just eight seconds. While the show carried the same format and dangled the same prize at the end of it all, the action was, for the first time, live and pretty much uninterrupted and the season will, in time, be far more interactive than ever before, offering fight fans the opportunity to participate and dictate the fates of those inside the house.
A runaway success since its inception in 2005, this latest tweaking should ensure it remains as such, following the odd hit-and-miss season of late. With change comes a period for reflection, however, and now seems as good a time as any to remember and highlight some of the show's very best success stories, if only to provide inspiration...

Although the Ufc has travelled to Brazil twice in around six months, there can be little doubt that Dana White will want to take the promotion to South America sometime in the near future. For, like Ufc 134, the first main card of 2012 had something of everything for the 17,000+ capacity crowd and the millions of people who watched the event live across the globe: spectacular submissions, knock-outs, and a wealth of controversy both in and outside of the octagon.
The drama began early the previous evening when Dana White announced that American wrestler Anthony Johnson- who recently moved up a weight-class to middleweight- would fail to meet the agreed non-title limit of 186lbs. Eventually, although his opponent Vitor Belfort accepted the bout, Johnson- whose team had contrived a spectacular narrative of excuses for the fighter- weighed in at an almost preposterous 197lbs and had to weigh in again the next...

On Saturday the Ufc will return to the spiritual home of mixed martial arts for only the third time in its history, and it augurs well for Ufc 142 that on the previous two occasions upon which the organisation has visited South America, the results were spectacular.
It is well known that the Ufc was founded by the legendary no holds barred fighting family, the Gracie’s; however, it had been twelve years since the last event in Brazil when middleweight champion fought Yushin Okami at Ufc 134 and his performance- and the event as a whole- were regarded as among the finest in Mma history.
Little wonder then that company president Dana White sought a quick return to Rio, even less that he chose the young Brazilian featherweight phenom, Jose Aldo, for his flagship match-up. As with Ufc 134, a large compliment of Brazilian fighters feature on the cards but- unlike many...

Marvel Comics has announced a new tie-in to Spider-Island featuring the martial arts superheroes Iron Fist and Shang-Chi. Wasteland writer Anthony Johnson will team up with regular collaborator Sebastian Fiumara for the three-issue miniseries, called Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu. The series will take place during the much-hyped Spider-Island event, which sees the residents of Manhattan all gain Spider-Man's powers. "In the midst of battle, what call could be so urgent that it takes the Immortal Iron Fist and the Master of Kung Fu away from the side of The Avengers?" Marvel's press release reads. The series will also feature regular Iron Fist allies the Immortal Weapons. However, it has (more)...

Redemption, thy name is Shogun
The main event at Ufc 113 featured a highly anticipated rematch between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
While many believed that Shogun won the first meeting, Machida was still the odds-on favorite as most observers thought the Karateka's style was still too difficult to solve for Rua a second time.
But on Saturday night, Shogun proved that he had not only learned how to solve the “Machida Rubik’s Cube” but how to do it like a whiz kid. Rua pressured and assaulted Lyoto building on his previous use of leg kicks with an an overhand attack where Rua commented that he noticed a weak spot in Machida’s armor. After three minutes, Shogun landed the right hand dropping Machida and Rua finished “The Dragon” off on the ground.
Thus the much heralded “Machida Era” (this writer was definitely a member of that course) ends,...
