Back in July of 2021, it was announced that V/H/S and Southbound filmmakers Roxanne Benjamin and David Bruckner were teaming up again for the survival thriller Fall Into Darkness, a remake of the 2014 Spanish-language film La Cueva. Benjamin would be directing the film, working from a screenplay Bruckner wrote with Nick Tecosky. Nell Tiger Free (Servant), Thomas Doherty (Legacies), and Lorenza Izzo (The Green Inferno) were all signed on to star. Filming was expected to begin at Lantica’s Pinewood Studios in the Dominican Republic in the fall of ’21. But Fall Into Darkness never went into production. And during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Free theorized that it fell apart due to the pandemic.

• Meg Ryan and Kara Hayward are joining Kiernan Shipka in Fan Girl. The film follows a 15-year-old post-Millennial teenager who combines her passions—making movies and idolizing her favorite band—in a final film project. Paul Jarrett is making his directorial debut with the semi-autobiographical film. Gina O'Brien wrote the script. The film also stars Scott Adsit, Joshua Boone, and Bill Sage. All Time Low will lend their music to the soundtrack and will appear as themselves. Jarrett, Nick Huston, and Adam Spielberg in association with Rosetta Films, Filament Productions and Literally Films are producing. O'Brien and Jonathan Gray are executive producing.

Bill Skarsgard (“Hemlock Grove”), Claire van der Boom (“Ruth & Alex”) and Paula Malcomson (“Ray Donovan”) are set to star in Alison Eastwood's sophomore feature “Battlecreek,” TheWrap has learned. Connie Hoy is producing under her Maindiner Entertainment banner along with Eastwood, who has recruited her father Clint Eastwood‘s longtime editor Gary Roach for the indie project. Red River Studios is financing the film, which will be executive produced by Red River's Michael G. Wallace. Production starts later this month in Mississippi.
