Paul McCartney has recorded plenty of covers of either famous songs or songs he’s really enjoyed. Many have connections to his favorite artists like Little Richard and Elvis Presley. Others were related to producer George Martin, who produced many tracks that Paul McCartney could record his own version of. One song Sir Paul recorded a cover of was originally produced by Martin, who completely forgot about it.
George Martin forgot he originally recorded Paul McCartney’s ‘No Other Baby’
“No Other Baby” was a single released by Paul McCartney on his 1999 cover album Run Devil Run. The track was written by Dickie Bishop and Bob Watson and recorded initially by Dickie Bishop and The Sidekicks in 1957. Other versions were recorded by The Vipers (1958) and Bobby Helms (1959).
In an interview with Laura Gross, McCartney admitted he wasn’t sure which version he listened to that made him like the song.

Lindsay Lohan’s big comeback is hitting all the nostalgia buttons with the release of a new version of “Jingle Bell Rock.” As you surely remember, the countryfied yuletide tune, first popularized by Bobby Helms in 1957, appeared in a borderline-racy scene in Lohan’s 2004 sensation “Mean Girls.” With the imminent release of “Falling For Christmas,” she and rapper Ali Tomineek have collaborated on a mall Pa-ready update to the update.
“Falling For Christmas” co-stars Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, and Linsday’s younger sister Alina Lohan. In it, our star plays an heiress who befalls a skiing accident, suffers amnesia and, no doubt learns the true meaning of Christmas while staring into hunky Overstreet’s dreamy eyes.
This summer, the 36-year-old Dubai-based Lohan married her boyfriend Bader Shammas. Earlier in the year, she starred in a Super Bowl ad for Planet Fitness with William Shatner, Dennis Rodman, and Danny Trejo...

As Christmas playlists continue their usual December boom on streaming platforms and on the radio, Adele nevertheless maintains her hold on the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the tracking week that ended on December 9. Read more on Billboard.com.
Adele’s “30” remains at number-one for the third week in a row on the Billboard 200 with 193,000 equivalent album units based on combined album sales, track sales, and online streaming performance. That’s down 33% from last week, but it’s still the best third week for any album since Drake‘s “Scorpion” more than three years ago. And “30” has some breathing room from the holiday onslaught. Taylor Swift‘s re-recorded “Red” maintains its number-two position, while Polo G‘s deluxe addition of “Hall of Fame” jumps to number-three.

The big music news of the holiday season has been Mariah Carey‘s long-awaited rise to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 with her modern standard “All I Want for Christmas is You.” But a rising yuletide lifts all boats. So while Carey spends a second straight week at number-one on the chart dated December 28, she’s not the only one getting a big Christmas bump.
There are actually four holiday songs in the top 10 this week (watch the countdown above). Following right behind Carey in the number-two spot is Brenda Lee‘s classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” The 75-year-old singer released the song back in 1958 — like Carey she was in her 20s at the time — and its rise this week means it’s now higher than it has ever been on the chart. If it manages to overtake “All I Want” before the holiday season is over, it would...

Nine days after troubled country singer Mindy McCready died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her lakefront home in Heber Springs, Ark., her family held her funeral in her hometown of Ft. Myers, Fla. About 400 mourners filled the sanctuary of Crossroads Baptist Church. A white hearse, escorted by two police cars, delivered the singer's wooden casket to the service. A large portrait of McCready graced the stage, and her casket was adorned with white roses. As McCready's songs were played, photos from her life were displayed on two large video screens on either side of the sanctuary. The pictures included...

With the onset of November, you are almost guaranteed to hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” at least once a day. The tantalizing tune will surely be sprinkled not only amongst holiday classics, like Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” but also contemporary hits, such as those off of Justin Bieber’s “Under The Mistletoe” and Lady Antebellum’s “On This Winter’s Night”. Just as with rock music, the holiday genre transforms and consistently exposes different stylizations of timeless tracks. With his holiday Ep, “And a Happy New Year”, native New Yorker, Mikey Wax contemporizes the festive [ Read More ]

Washington, Dec 2: Mariah Carey's 1994 Christmas classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' has topped 2011's first Billboard Holiday Songs chart in the U.S.
Thanks to a combination of download sales and airplay, the pop queen's hit number sleighed the competition in the first top 50 of the year, which was released on Thursday.
Justin Bieber's 'Mistletoe' comes second on the Christmas countdown and Brenda Lee's 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' is at three, Contactmusic reported.
At four is Nat King Cole's rendition of 'The Christmas Song' and Bobby Helms rounds out the top five with 'Jingle Bell Rock'. (Ani)...

The Four Christmases soundtrack. I am a sucker for Christmas music. I’ll gladly admit to having a healthy CD collection of holiday standards. I start them up before Thanksgiving and don’t stop until New Years. It’s a happy time that always triggers nostalgic memories. For every silver belled lining though, there is a big fat lump of coal, and it usually comes in the form of a posthumous duet.
Now posthumous duets are nothing new, like Hollywood remakes though, they are completely unnecessary. They’re cheap and gimmicky. They embarrass everyone involved, and they make baby Jesus cry. The soundtrack for Four Christmases boldly opens up with a beloved classic that was made popular by Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer. The problem is they used the solo version sung by Dean Martin. Doris Day was supposed to be on that recording but she had a falling out...
