“The Crown” can only play a pair of Queens at the Emmys.
Emmy winner Olivia Colman, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth in the series finale episode of Netflix’s monarchy drama, is not eligible to submit in the guest drama actress race by only a few seconds. However, her co-star Claire Foy, who also portrays Her Majesty in her younger years and appears in the same episode, is eligible and will be the sole guest submission for the series, angling for her second win in the category.
The “Sleep, Dearie Sleep,” written by Peter Morgan and directed by Stephen Daldry, clocks in at a robust 72 minutes, the longest of any episode across its six seasons. In the series’ final moments, Imelda Staunton’s Elizabeth looks back on the highs and lows of her reign as she grapples with the idea of handing the crown to Charles. Her younger self appears to...

Friday night at the Fysee space in Hollywood, Netflix hosted the last-ever industry panel with the cast and crew of “The Crown.” The regal drama series aired its final season in November and December, and it has already competed at kudos like the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Now, the upcoming 2024 Emmys will be its last hurrah on the awards circuit. Taking part in the combined in-person and virtual discussion for Season 6 were cast members Imelda Staunton (Queen Elizabeth II), Elizabeth Debicki (Princess Diana), Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret) and Khalid Abdalla (Dodi Fayed), plus executive producer/writer Peter Morgan, casting director Robert Sterne, set decorator Alison Harvey, composer Martin Phipps, hair & makeup designer Cate Hall, and costume designers Amy Roberts & Sidonie Robertsas.
Morgan began the discussion by addressing the fact that Season 6, unlike the prior cycles, took place within recent memory. “Obviously, you’re more mindful...

As with any large-scale production such as Netflix’s The Crown, what viewers see in the background is just as important as the actors playing the series’ key roles. Season 6 is no exception, with spectacular sets that appear as authentic as the places they replicate. However, along with that essential element are more minor set secrets, which provide even more legitimacy to the House of Windsor‘s story.
‘The Crown’ sets lend a feeling of authenticity to the series
The Crown set decorator Alison Harvey spoke to Elle Decor about creating the series’ sets. She shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into some of season 6’s most spectacular filming locations and many smaller items that lent historical accuracy to the series.
“We aren’t making a documentary, so we can’t copy anything exactly. But we have to do it in the spirit of rather than creating a direct replication,” Harvey shared.

Emmys: Netflix Kicks Off Campaign Season with ‘Wednesday’ Stunt, Relocates ‘FYSee Space’ (Exclusive)
Netflix, perennially a key player in the Emmy race, is launching its 2023 Emmy campaigns on Wednesday with a, well, Wednesday-themed stunt.
Indeed, many voters and tastemakers will receive a hump-day visit — and hand-delivery of goodies — from a trio associated with the streamer’s hit comedy series: “Lurch,” the Addams family’s butler, who will be driving a class black 1930s hearse; “Wednesday Addams,” the titular teenager with psychic powers; and “Thing,” the sentient disembodied hand.
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, Netflix will — for the fifth year in a row, but for the first year at Red Studios at 846 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Los Angeles — welcome TV Academy members to an elaborate “FYSee Space” at which it will showcase activations and host star-studded panels and performances in promotion of its numerous Emmy hopefuls. The FYSee Space will be open from Friday, May 5 through Friday, May 26.

A dummy corpse from Netflix hit series “The Crown” nearly sparked a murder investigation, the production designers have revealed.
In February of this year, during the shooting on location of Season 5, thieves stole 200,000 worth of antique props contained in two large trucks from the show’s set. But they threw out a dummy corpse they also found alongside the antiques.
Set decorator Alison Harvey told Variety that the props mostly related to Episode 6, which looks at the relations between the British royals and Soviet Russia.
“It’s a shame because it was some of the loveliest antiques that we could actually get our hands on because we were trying to recreate the Russian Imperial family and the wealth of ancient Russia,” Harvey said. “So there was quite a lot lost, which was very sad. We just made accommodation in the set for what was missing and it was sort of fine,...

This certainly is a case for fictional detective Arsène Lupin.
Netflix’s “Lupin” set was the target of a robbery February 25, during which an estimated €300,000 worth of equipment was stolen. Production in the Paris outskirt of Nanterre was halted until February 28.
“Lupin” star Omar Sy was allegedly on set when “approximately 20 people who had their faces covered broke onto the set after throwing mortar fireworks,” according to the news outlet Afp (via Variety). Only hours after the attack, Sy attended the César Awards to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his film “Intouchables.”
Netflix confirmed that there was “an incident” February 25 while filming the upcoming season of “Lupin,” in which Sy plays thief Assane Diop, inspired by the reformed thief turned detective. “Lupin” started production on Season 3 in November 2021. The show is Netflix’s second-biggest international hit after “Squid Game.”

Keep calm and carry on filming.
Netflix confirmed that Season 5 of “The Crown” suffered a large theft to the tune of £150,000, or $201,000, after three production trucks were broken into February 18.
The heist occurred in a lorry park in Mexborough in Yorkshire, where “The Crown” was filming nearby. Over 350 items were taken, including a replica of a 1897 Russian Imperial Coronation Fabergé coach egg purchased by the Queen’s grandfather, as well as 12 sets of silver candelabras, jewelry, a William IV grandfather clock, 10-piece silver dressing table, St. Louis gilt crystal glassware and decanters, and a domed birdcage, per The Mirror.
“The items stolen are not necessarily in the best condition and therefore of limited value for resale,” “The Crown” set decorator Alison Harvey told the Gazette (via Variety). “However, they are valuable as pieces to the U.K. film industry.”
