Helmet’s seminal album Betty is receiving a 30th anniversary vinyl reissue via the Interscope Vinyl Collective. The reissue arrives June 1st as a 2-lp configuration featuring grey vinyl that was pressed at Third Man Records.
The expanded tracklist features five additional songs: “Flushings,” “Thick,” “Pariah,” “Biscuits for Smut – Mutt Mix” and “Biscuits for Smut – Pooch Mix.” The set also includes updated and new artwork illustrated by Derek Hess (plus a Hess illustration etched onto Side D), an exclusive lithograph of the original cover, and a “thank you” message from Helmet founder Page Hamilton on the inner sleeves.
“After recording our first two albums, Strap It On and Meantime, with Wharton Tiers in his downtown NYC basement studio, Fun City, we decided to try something different,” said Hamilton of the origins of Betty. “We knew the L.A. Motown studio Neve 8078 console was owned by Donald Fagan of Steely Dan,...

Join us as we talk to writer/director Drew Hall about his latest genre-spanning film, the psychological thriller titled Convergence.
Convergence is the latest film from American filmmaker Drew Hall, whose previous credits include Sons of Liberty and The Phoenix Rises. This latest film, of which Drew was involved as both writer and director, is an intense supernatural thriller. The film focuses on a detective who fights to redeem his soul when he becomes trapped in a hospital that serves as a gateway between heaven and hell. Starring Clayne Crawford (Rectify) and Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait), check out the trailer below.
The trailer for Convergence definitely has a lot going on. It’s action-packed but also has this horror film vibe, even some religious imagery. Suffice to say, it doesn’t seem easily categorized. How would you best describe the film to the uninitiated? What can they expect?...

After an eight year hiatus, Bush are back together. The British post-grunge band who stormed the American charts with smashes like "Everything Zen," "Little Things" and "Machinehead" from their debut album Sixteen Stone have returned to the rock scene with a new tour and a brand new album called Everything Always Now (which should hit stores in October).
Nearly a decade has passed between Bush albums, and as Rossdale explained to MTV News' Matt Elias in the studio in Los Angeles, his writing has evolved profoundly since the release of 2001's Golden State. "You don't want to repeat yourself," Rossdale said. "I've thought a lot that if I repeated myself, I might have been more successful. Had I done Sixteen Stone over and over again, I might have been much larger."
His method now draws from an unusual source of inspiration. "It's more of a hip-hop approach," Rossdale said of his process.

One could easily make the argument that the hottest band of 1995 was Bush. Fueled by their debut album, Sixteen Stone, and massive singles like "Everything Zen," "Little Things" and "Machinehead," the English quartet took the American rock audience by storm. Despite seemingly constant nose-turning from critics, the group continued to put out consistently beloved music through the end of the century. Now, eight years after they broke up, frontman Gavin Rossdale has gotten the band back together — and he couldn't be happier.
"It feels really exciting and really like coming home," Rossdale told MTV News in the studio where he was putting the finishing touches on the brand-new Bush album, their first since 2001's Golden State. "Doing Institute and a solo record felt like leaving home, and while I enjoyed those things,...

Our five-part Halloween Week retrospective on "The Crow" continues, celebrating the film's 15th anniversary with cast and filmmaker interviews that explore its origin and legacy. Check back each day this week for another installment of our "15 Years Of Devil's Night" series.
Part Four: Best. Soundtrack. Ever?
By Ryan J. Downey
"The Crow" soundtrack is quite possibly the greatest alt-rock compilation assembled in the '90s. Coupled with Graeme Revell's hauntingly moving score, bands like The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Machines Of Loving Grace perfectly complimented the movie's dark and romantic themes.
Even the bands who contributed cover songs selected material that lined up well with the flick, intentionally or not. Nine Inch Nails covered "Lost Souls," by one of The Crow creator James O'Barr's favorite bands, Joy Division. Rollins Band did a version of Suicide's "Ghost Rider," about the Marvel hero. Pantera...
