We now know who Richard Grant will be playing in Logan! Slashfilm says Grant will be playing villain Dr. Zander Rice, the scientist who created X-23. In the comics, Rice is the son of a scientist who was a part of the original Weapon X project that created Wolverine. Zander Rice is motivated to take vengeance on Wolverine after his father was murdered by the mutant in his escape from the lab.
So does this mean X-23 will be a villain as well? Who knows how far they'll follow the comic storyline in the film, but I'm sure there will inevitably be conflict between Wolverine and X-23 at some point in the film, don't you agree?
Logan will be released March 3rd, 2017. ...

Free State of Jones brings to life one of the Civil War's most extraordinary and counterintuitive episodes, in which a Confederate deserter overthrew his former commanders and established a free "state" in his native corner of southeast Mississippi. Newton Knight, played by a ragged, yellow-toothed Matthew McConaughey, was a poor farmer who, incensed by a new law that allowed landowners to swap 20 slaves for their military service, abandoned his company to lead his own rebellion. "He looked around at all of his yeoman farmer buddies and said, 'Do you own any slaves?' They were like, 'No.' He goes,...

"The Big Bang Theory" did an episode in which Amy ruins "Raiders of the Lost Ark" for Sheldon by pointing out that for all of the action and adventure, "Indiana Jones plays no role in the outcome of the story. If he weren’t in the film, it would turn out exactly the same." I've watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" subsequently and, thankfully, Amy didn't actually ruin the movie. I can't dispute her regarding the main character's agency, but it's still an awesome movie, one of the genre's most thrilling achievements. You cannot, it turns out, ruin "Raiders of the Lost Ark" by pointing out a structure flaw. You also, fortunately, cannot ruin "Raiders of the Lost Ark" by doing a dreadful story about nefarious forces searching for the Ark of the Covenant, or Ark-adjacent artifacts. But if you could ruin "Raiders of the Lost Ark" merely by desecrating its dramatic objective,...

ITV ran the trailer for season five of Downton Abbey before the premiere of X-Factor (which brought back Simon Cowell), and it's a much longer glimpse than the teaser we got a couple of months back. The trailer confirms a lot of what we already knew, like the entrance of guest stars Richard Grant and Anna Chancellor, but also piques our curiosity about a whole lot else. We'll let the trailer speak for itself, but we will tell you that there is much more Dame Maggie Smith this go-around. For Brits, the series returns Sunday, September 21, whereas us Americans will have to either patiently wait until its PBS premiere January 4, 2015, or get our search engines ready to go.

Batsh*t crazy, and not necessarily in a good way, Andrei Konchalovsky's The Nutcracker in 3D is a bizarre concoction, confounding yet fascinating, an odd mixture of children's fantasy and Nazi nightmares. John Turturro sings and dances as the Rat King, Nathan Lane croons two songs in a cracked Russian accent and talks to the camera, toys are burnt in hulking factories that resemble concentration camps, and a young black toy comes to life and speaks in the worst Jamaican accent since Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black.

Actress Gemma Arterton, revealed in an interview with The Sunday Times (via Digital Spy) that she is meeting director Ridley Scott to discuss taking a lead role in the planned prequels to his 1979 sci-fi thriller Alien .
Having seen Arterton in J.Blakeson's The Disappearance of Alice Creed Scott was impressed and approached her in regard to taking the lead female role. One might remember that it was Scott's casting of Sigourney Weaver in the original Alien that kick-started her career. The alien thrillers made an impact with their feisty female leads dictating the action, Arterton would be the perfect fit, having proved herself in the action genre with roles in Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time earlier this year. Still well remembered for her part in Quantum Of Solace, a leading role in Scott's sci-fi thriller could be a brilliant opportunity to step beyond the Bond girl.
