Was slated to direct the film version of "Man of La Mancha", but was
let go by United Artists after they learned that he planned to eliminate
nearly all of the songs and make a "straight" dramatic film of the
musical. It was Glenville who brought in most of the principal actors,
which is why the film is largely cast with Shakespearean actors who had
never sung before in a film.
