Veteran comedy writer-producers Dan Staley and Rob Long have inked a two-year overall deal with Touchstone Television. Under the seven-figure pact, Staley and Long will write and executive produce the Touchstone TV/Shady Acres comedy pilot Red and Blue, recently picked up by ABC, and develop other projects for the studio. Staley and Long are penning the script for Red and Blue, about a conservative grandfather and a liberal father who disagree about how to raise the next generation, and will exec produce with Shady Acres' Tom Shadyac and Michael Bostick (HR 3/15). Shadyac, the helmer of such feature hits as Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty, might direct the pilot. Bruce Ferber (ABC's Home Improvement), who penned the first draft of the project as part of a blind script deal, is expected to stay involved with the show in some capacity.
