“Question not my judgment, Malachai. I am the giver of His word.”
It’s the summer of 1984. The pavement is hot, the corn is high, and the eerie voices of children can be heard singing in a distant barn. Something sinister walks behind the rows. Is it a cult of killer children ripped from the Old Testament? Is a vengeful deity who demands human sacrifice? Is it a roving mound of dirt speeding through the corn or a loud little girl who draws in her sleep? In the latest episode of The Long Watch, The Losers’ Club will pick up their scythes and venture into the fragrant fields to unearth the secrets of Fritz Kiersch’s Children of the Corn.
Burt (Peter Horton) and Vicky (Linda Hamilton) are driving across the country when a detour off the main highway takes them straight through a never ending sea of corn. When...

"He wants you, too, Malachai!" Three years later, Vicky (Linda Hamilton) and boyfriend Burt (Peter Horton) are driving near Gatlin when a little boy stumbles in front of their car. On May 10, Across the Universe Records will release Jonathan Elias’ ‘Prayer Cycle 2: Path To Zero,’ a collection of music produced by the celebrated composer that features a stunning array of world-renowned musicians and activists. Proceeds from the record will be donated to Global Zero, an international organization dedicated to nuclear disarmament. Contributors include Sting, Trudie Styler, Angélique Kidjo, Robert Downey Jr, Sinead O’Connor, Serj Tankian and more.
“‘Path to Zero’ is a classically influenced set of world prayers, inspired by the survival of hope in a world living under the shadow of the nuclear threat. As an artist leaving a legacy to my children, it’s my prayer that they will be able to succeed in recognizing and changing the path we have chosen for the world, even if we cannot,” says Elias.

Stars team up for Prayer Cycle 2: Path to Zero, a benefit record that also features a cameo from late Doors singer Jim Morrison
Sting, Sinéad O'Connor, Robert Downey Jr and, er, Korn's Jonathan Davis are among the contributors to a new album of "world prayers", due this spring. Created by composer Jonathan Elias, Prayer Cycle 2: Path to Zero also features the late Doors singer Jim Morrison reading an unreleased poem.
Although its title sounds like a post-apocalyptic video game, Prayer Cycle 2: Path to Zero is a "classically influenced" benefit LP for anti-nuclear organisation Global Zero. The follow-up to a similar 1999 compilation, which featured James Taylor, Alanis Morissette and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the album is a "sort of prayer for continuation", Elias told Billboard.com, "as it relates to the world today".
If this sounds like hippie talk, it comes form a hippie with lots of friends.

You all know about the Blue Man and where he ended up. But we never got to see what actually happened that put him on the cross and made him an example. It does seem, however, that his demise was a scene originally meant to be shown in the movie! If not fully filmed, the scene set up was at least photographed for advertising and press. Only a couple variations of this still have been released, one on a couple of rare production stills and a shot of another on the back of the original Embassy Home Entertainment laserdisc. Why this scene was cut of the Blue Man's "Execution" is anyone's guess. But it does make one wonder if there were other scenes that didn't make it into the released version of the film. We were thinking, wouldn't it be cool to see this segment unearthed and maybe reintegrated back into the film?...

One of Anchor Bay's most popular fan favorite releases this year was the announcement of the original Children of the Corn on Bd! Included in this outstanding release were three brand new interviews with Donald Borchers, Jonathan Elias & Craig Stearns and the always popular Linda Hamilton. In charge of putting these together was a company called Red Shirt Pictures. The name may not sound familiar but if you are a fan of horror, you may have seen some of their other interviews on dvd's such as - The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Demons, The Monster Squad, Creepshow, Hellraiser 1 & 2 and Pumpkinhead. Run by Michael Felsher, Red Shirt Pictures produces audio commentaries, interview featurettes and documentaries for major studios and independent distributors. You can view their list of their dvd projects here or visit their website at www.redshirtpictures.com for more information on what they do. And as a treat,...

Well, it seems that the 25th Anniversary Edition of the original Children of the Corn soundtrack was a very fast sellout, but not the fastest in Varese history. We just received news from Varese that Children of the Corn (1984) sold out within 16 hours, similar to Jonathan Elias' score for Vamp and Jay Chattaway's Silver Bullet. They think the cd that holds the fastest title is probably Georges Delerue's True Confessions. We have been recently notified that Ebay does have a few copies listed so if you were not able to order a copy in time, be sure to check them out!

Just months before Linda Hamilton battled The Terminator in 1984, she fought for her life against the Children Of The Corn, led by Isaac (John Franklin), one of the genre’s creepiest kids ever. Children is one of over 50 adaptations of Stephen King stories to have been released over the years, and it remains a cult favorite. It has spawned six sequels (including Isaac’S Return) and been given the remake treatment (please, Hollywood, stop!) by one of the original’s producers, Donald P. Borchers, for a forthcoming Syfy TV premiere—and now it’s back on an Anchor Bay Blu-ray, which will first be available exclusively at Best Buy June 30 ahead of its general release August 25.
