The Costume Designers Guild is expanding its leadership in order to better serve its membership's needs. The costume guild has added two new staff members to expand its executive outreach and further burnish the reputation of costume designers. "As the prestige and status of the costume designer has risen, so have the needs of the CDG," said Deborah Landis, president of Local 892. "We are officially under new management." CDG has appointed Cheryl Downey, as executive director. Downey came up through the ranks of the DGA training program, later becoming a trustee of that program where for 25 years she strived to give women and minorities more access to the DGA and joined the Costume Designers Guild in 2005. She was awarded the DGA Frank Capra Award for Distinctive Career Achievement and Service to the DGA.
