- His illustrations for the 1869 French edition of "Don Quixote" are probably the most famous illustrations ever made for the classic Spanish novel. They have been reprinted again and again, they have been given an entire volume to themselves alone, and were even used as the illustrations for the program of the original Broadway production of "Man of La Mancha".
