James Doran was born on May 15, 1923 in Edinburgh, Lothian, Scotland, UK. He was a writer and director, known for The Ipcress File (1965), Gazette (1968) and Juliet Bravo (1980). He was married to Anne Bersey and Beverley Doran. He died on July 14, 2009 in the UK.
Served with the Royal Marines in World War II and began working as a journalist after his military services was completed. He interviewed film stars for the magazine "News Review" and then began playwriting for London's West End.
His father was a physician and his mother the playwright Lesley Storm.
