Tim Commerford, the bassist of the rock band Rage Against the Machine, has said that has no idea if the band has split. Earlier this year, the drummer of the band Brad Wilk claimed that the ‘Killing in the Name’ hitmakers, also comprising Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello, “will not be touring or playing live again,” as a band, reports ‘Female First UK’.
He announced on Instagram: “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled Ratm shows. So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that Ratm will not be touring or playing live again.”
“I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was. Bottom of my heart… Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.

Don’t ask Tim Commerford about the status of Rage Against the Machine: “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that. I’m the bass player,” he told Rolling Stone in a new interview.
Earlier this year, drummer Brad Wilk announced that Rage Against the Machine would “not be touring or playing live again,” effectively signaling the end of the band. “I am sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen,” Wilk wrote in an Instagram post on January 3rd. “I really wish it was…”
Until now, Ratm’s other three members had not addressed Wilk’s proclamation; in the case of Commerford, it was because he had nothing to add.
Asked by Rolling Stone if Ratm is indeed over, Commerford responded, “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that. I’m the bass player. I just wait for...

The last time Tim Commerford stood in front of a large audience, Rage Against the Machine were wrapping up their truncated 2022 reunion tour with a five-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden. In the 18 months since that show, the Rage bassist has gone off the grid, and we mean that in a very literal sense. He now lives in a dirt road, mountaintop California house (he doesn’t want us to specify the location) that is removed from the electric grid. He powers everything via solar panels, and...

On one hand, the news was hardly surprising. Rage are an incredibly volatile band with a long history of dysfunction.

Commerford tells the publication of his own health struggles, “I’ve been dealing with some pretty serious s**t.

If you came of age in the late nineties/early 2000s, you knew Limp Bizkit. You may have loved them or hated them – they were that kind of band…but whatever the case, you for sure knew who they were. Led by frontman Fred Durst, they were the faces of mainstream Nu Metal at a time when the genre was taking off. The band definitely never got the respect of a band like Korn or Rage Against the Machine – for a good reason probably. While Rage was all about non-conformity, Limp Bizkit’s lyrics were more about breaking stuff (to the point that one of their best-known songs is literally called “Break Stuff”), which led to the band getting a lot of ire from critics and even within the industry. Who could ever forget the sight of Fred Durst accepting an MTV award while Rage’s Tim Commerford climbed the...

Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello had a run-in with security during the rock band’s concert at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Saturday.
As seen in a fan-captured video, midway through the group’s closing song, “Killing in the Name,” the iconic guitarist was accidentally knocked over by a security guard sprinting toward an unruly fan who snuck onto the stage.
Rage frontman Zack de la Rocha — who was seated because of a recent foot injury — continued performing the heavy protest track for a few moments before realizing there was a problem and stopping the show. “Hold up, hold up, hold up,” the rapper repeated, motioning to his bandmates to halt the performance.
As the lights went up, Morello was seen quickly standing up with a smile on his face and indicating to the roaring crowd that he wasn’t harmed during the incident.

Near the end of Rage Against the Machine’s first concert in 11 years, frontman Zack de la Rocha walked to the tip of the stage, squinted his eyes shut, and roared out the “fuck you I won’t do as you tell me” climax of “Killing In The Name” as roughly 30,000 fans screamed along in unison, several of them crowd surfing right at his feet despite looking about 20 years too old for such an activity.

Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s Film 45 will document the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman.
"Cry, if you want to cry," Chris Cornell sang on the song "My Wave." Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s production company Film 45 will help you see and clear your eyes in a documentary about the late frontman and songwriter for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, according to Variety. Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, will participate as a producer. Paramount recently yanked Pitt's World War Z 2, which he hoped to make with Fight Club director David Fincher, from its production schedule. Berg will direct the as-yet-untitled movie. No other details of the Chris Cornell documentary have been announced.
Cornell died on May 18, 2017, a few hours after a Soundgarden show at Detroit's Fox Theater. His death was ruled a suicide. An autopsy revealed painkillers and anti-anxiety medication in Cornell's bloodstream.

If the MTV Video Music Awards have ever been about the awards themselves, that era is long past. The most unpredictable and frequently over-the-top awards show remains one of the last-standing watercooler TV events by delivering iconic moments year after year. Here are a few of the most legendary from the show’s nearly 35 year life.
Madonna performed her single “Like a Virgin” at the very first VMAs in 1984, donning a wedding dress for a performance that looks downright tame by modern standards but raised a few eyebrows in its day.

Presumably breaking a world-record for the biggest can of worms that’s ever been opened, Rage Against The Machine’s Tim Commerford apologised for his band’s part in creating Limp Bizkit. But though Commerford took it upon himself to single out Fred Durst and co for their crimes against music, he could really have chosen any number of nu-metallers to say sorry for influencing.
The biggest exception to that rule is Deftones. The Sacramento five-piece were dismissed as “Korn-lite” in their early days, but since then they have shown not only remarkable staying power, but expanded and improved their sound, becoming critically-acclaimed in the process.
The 3rd of October 2015 celebrates the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Adrenaline. While it is rightly considered a classic of both genre and artist, Deftones are by far a better band now than they were 20 years ago, both in the live arena and on record.

There's no letting go of grudges in rock 'n' roll, and it appears Rage Against the Machine's bassist has still not settled his beef with Limp Bizkit. Tim Commerford, presumably speaking on behalf of his band, is now taking full responsibility for the existence of the Fred Durst–led rap-metal outfit. He tells Rolling Stone: "I do apologize for Limp Bizkit. I really do. I feel really bad that we inspired such bullshit. They're gone, though. That's the beautiful thing. There's only one left, and that's Rage, and as far as I'm concerned, we're the only one that matters." This of course isn't the first time Commerford has expressed his animosity toward Durst and co. He famously pulled a Kanye-before-Kanye and disrupted Limp Bizkit's speech at the 2000 VMAs, climbing atop a massive part of the stage design while the band accepted the award for Best Rock Video, beating...

First released Tuesday on Rolling Stone, "Mountain Lion" is about "the government's attempts to use the controversy surrounding performance-enhancing drugs as a distraction from their own global sins," read a press release about the video. Lance Armstrong has a pretty cool ally -- the bassist from Rage Against the Machine ... who's vouching that Armstrong still "rules" and says it's time for people to get over the P.E.D. scandal. TMZ Sports spoke with Tim Commerford -- who's gotten pretty serious about cycling over the years -- and he told us that Armstrong was his "pit crew guy" during a recent race in Colorado. Just days before the election, many in Hollywood are making last-minute pushes for their favorite candidate — and taking digs at their opponents. Case in point: On the heels of Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello calling Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan a "jackass," Rage bassist Tim Commerford told TMZ that he thinks Mitt Romney's running mate is "stupid" for saying that he's a fan of the liberal rock band. Photos: The Top Celebrity Political Twitter Commentators "Clearly, he's not smart to be admitting that [he likes Rage]," Commerford said, as captured by TMZ videocameras.

In October, Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello spoke out against Paul Ryan, calling him a "jackass" after already pegging him as "the embodiment of the machine our music rages against." Now, another band member is joining the Paul Ryan-bashing club.
"Clearly [Paul's] not smart to be admitting that [he likes Rage]," Bassist Tim Commerford said in an interview with TMZ. "It seems like it's stupid for him to even bring it up, so he's obviously not that smart of a guy."
The Rage Against the Machine conflict with Paul Ryan started when the politician listed the liberal rock band as one of his favorite artists. Morello took to Rolling Stone's website, writing an op-ed in response. He said that Ryan had "rage" but specifies that it is "A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment.

Rage Against the Machine have finally spoken up regarding rumors of a new album. After an interview between vocalist Zack de la Rocha and a Chilean newspaper got lost in translation last year, rumors quickly spread that the band were in the writing stage and about to hit the studio. We had our hopes, but through an interview with the Pulse of Radio, Tom Morello has put the rumors to rest with some rather buzzkill news:
"Right now there are no … You know, the band is not writing songs, the band is not in the studio," he said, while making his guitar go Wicky-wicky-waaah (not really). "We get along famously and we all, you know, intend to do more Rage Against the Machine stuff in the future, but beyond sort of working out a concert this year, there’s nothing else on the schedule."

Now that their first single, "H.A.M.," has debuted, it looks like Jay-z and Kanye West's highly anticipated Watch the Throne album is actually happening.
West tweeted about the collaboration in August, and confirmed it a few months later, saying the project would now be a full album. But few would have guessed it would be released so soon — right on the heels of West's critically lauded My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — and there aren't too many examples in music history of two superstars collaborating on an album.

There have been plenty of rock "supergroups" who have released albums over the years, starting with the likes of Cream (Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce) and Crosby, Stills and Nash (David Crosby,...

When Soundgarden first broke up in 1997, frontman Chris Cornell — who has one of the best sets of pipes in the rock singer business — initially embarked on a solo career (he released the underrated Euphoria Morning in 1999). But really, it seemed like he was just waiting for Zack De La Rocha to exit Rage Against the Machine in 2000, leaving bandmates Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk searching for a new voice. They were introduced to Cornell by superstar rock producer Rick Rubin, and the rest is history. The band hit it off immediately, adopted the name Audioslave, recorded 19 songs in three weeks and shortly thereafter dropped their self-titled debut album, which hit the streets on this day in 2002.
Prior to the release of Audioslave, there was a great deal of speculation regarding what the band would actually sound like. Would the Rage boys flip to a more classic rock sound...

From Madonna and Britney to Kanye and Taylor, here are some of the Vma moments that had everyone on the edge of their seat!
You never know what to expect at the MTV Vma’s! Anything can happen when you put all of the hottest singers, actors and rappers in the same room. From the very first Video Music Awards show in 1984 — when Madonna dry-humped the stage at Radio City Music Hall while wearing a wedding dress and singing “Like A Virgin” — MTV made it clear that this wasn’t going to be anything like your parents awards show.
This years Vma’s are sure to shock. So to get you in the mood to rock HollywoodLife has compiled a list of the all-time best (and worst) Vma moments:

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards are only a few weeks away. The biggest party of the year features nominated clips by Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-z, Ke$ha and Katy Perry and will feature performances by Kanye West, Eminem, Drake, Justin Bieber, Paramore, Usher, B.o.B, Florence and the Machine and Linkin Park. In order to properly prepare yourself for what's to come, every day the MTV Newsroom Blog will deliver a classic moment in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards. Today's installment: Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford crashes the stage.
At the end of the last century, it was apparently very dangerous for MTV to construct anything that even vaguely resembled scaffolding. In a fast-moving digital world where catchphrases and memes disappear 20 minutes after they're declared cool, it must be especially frustrating to be Kanye West. It has now been two months since he crashed Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, but the rest of the media world refuses to let West forget about it. West has apologized to Swift (both in public on national television and in a private phone conversation) and stayed out of the public eye since that fateful night at Radio City Music Hall, but it seems like any time anybody has an awards show, it crops back up again. In fact, getting interrupted during an awards show moment is now simply called "getting Kanye'd."
Case in point: On last night's Country Music Association Awards show, co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were in the middle of a bit when they were interrupted...

The MTV Video Music Awards have given us some certifiably legendary moments over the years — from Madonna's "Like a Virgin" performance in 1984 to Nirvana's unforgettable set in 1992, from Britney's coming-out party in 2000 to this year's Michael Jackson tribute, with about a million stops in between. If you can think of a groundbreaking performance or star-making turn, there's a pretty good chance it happened at the VMAs.
That said, for better or worse, the VMAs have — at times — also been a stomping ground for celebrity bad behavior. And in line with that, er, legacy, the media world is in an uproar over Kanye West's onstage antics at Sunday's VMAs,...
