Consider This: Conversations highlight television’s award-worthy productions through panel discussions with the artists themselves. The above video is in partnership by Amazon Prime Video, produced by IndieWire’s Creative Producer Leonardo Adrian Garcia, and hosted by TV Editor Kristen Lopez.
The landscape of Amazon Prime Video’s series “Them” is filled with horror from the moment the Emory family moves into their new Compton residence. That fear and tension isn’t limited to the project’s storytelling. As the crafts team members behind the series lay out, they wanted to imbue history and tension into everything surrounding the Emorys and everything they wear.
Costume designer Mari-An Ceo says the many meticulous details in the series’ costuming at times veered into being spoilers themselves. In some cases, those details were tiny. For instance, the villainous Miss Vera’s collar looks like a book, which subtly connects her to little Gracie Jean...

“It was a dream job,” declares costume designer Mari-An Ceo about the series “Timeless,” and that’s because they got to go “back in time” and “do something different every week and every episode.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Ceo above.
See With ‘Avengers: Endgame’ upon us, here’s why Marvel deserves (gasp!) an Honorary Oscar
This NBC series starred Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett as a trio of time travelers who try to prevent a mysterious organization from changing the course of history as we know it. Throughout its two seasons, the series took viewers back to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the Salem Witch Trials, Hollywood’s golden age, and the Battle of the Alamo, to name a few. It wrapped up its run with a two-hour Christmas special that took place during both California’s Gold Rush and the Korean War’s Hungnam evacuation.

The second and final season of “Timeless,” NBC’s time travel drama, embraces more inclusion and diversity, including encounters with abolitionist Harriet Tubman, suffragist Alice Paul, and blues musician Robert Johnson. This greatly expanded the challenges and opportunities for costume designer Mari-An Ceo, who especially enjoyed “Hollywoodland,” in which she got to recreate Katherine Hepburn’s lavish Greek goddess gown from “The Philadelphia Story” for star Abigail Spencer.
“The stories shifted and became more evolved [this season], but this was one of my favorites,” Ceo said. “Going into Hollywood, it felt like we were making a movie and dressed all the people that worked on movies. We made hundreds of background costumes. We were on the Paramount lot and, finally, we were shooting where the place actually was supposed to be.”

Costume design isn’t all fancy designer clothes and period outfits. Sometimes the costume designers themselves have to give the clothes off their backs.
“I took my bra off for Lisa Bonet. She forgot her bra,” Michelle Cole said during Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts: Costume Designers panel featuring four top Emmy contenders, moderated by this author (watch above). Cole was working as a customer under the late Palmer Brown on “A Different World” at the time. “I had to take my bra off for her and give it to her. She had no choice.”

At least she only had to donate one piece of clothing, unlike “This Is Us” costume designer Hala Bahmet. “I’m not going to name names, but once, literally the actress and I looked at each other and...

Okay, so Jackie Earle Haley’s brave attempt at becoming Freddy Kruger in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 did not come off as well as hoped. However, his immediately recognisable costume is still emblematic as ever – albeit now with some subtle differences.
Costume designer for A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot Mari-An Ceo had a wealth of considerations to take into account when creating her version of ‘that sweater’, not least that the green and red striped colours are so dark along side each other they are barely perceptible to the human eye (indeed, many think Freddy’s sweater is actually red and black to this day).
In this video (opens in new window) Mari-An Ceo, Earle Haley and crew chat briefly about how the new Nightmare sweater was envisaged and its legacy for the character.
The basic Freddy Kruger ensemble is one of the most iconic horror costumes on film.

The new teaser trailer for "Nightmare on Elm Street" has just been released, and it shows Jackie Earle Haley in the role of our favorite boogeyman, Freddy Krueger.
This remake's from producer Michael Bay, so chances are, the film will be very sleek with not a whole lot of character or plot development.
But Haley is a good actor, so I'm looking forward to seeing this film, just to see how he'll adapt the role that Robert Englund made famous in the 80s. The reboot arrives in theaters April 30, 2010.
