“Law & Order: Organized Crime” has been renewed for Season 5, with the show now officially set to move from NBC to Peacock.
The news comes after weeks of speculation that the show would make the jump to the streaming service from the broadcast network. The Season 4 finale will air on NBC on May 16 and stream the next day on Peacock.
Moving “Law & Order: Oc” to Peacock is not altogether surprising. The show has lagged behind fellow Dick Wolf series “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Svu,” and the three “Chicago” shows at NBC while still maintaining solid viewership. It also reportedly does very well on Peacock, particularly given its more serialized storylines, a departure from Wolf’s typical procedural format.
It was also the last Dick Wolf broadcast show awaiting word on its fate for next season. The other two “Law & Order” shows and all three “Chicago” shows were renewed back in March.

It’s a done deal — NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime starring Christopher Meloni has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be streaming exclusively on Peacock. As Deadline previously reported, Season 5 is expected to consist of 10 episodes, less than what the Wolf Entertainment series produced for NBC under normal circumstances but on the high end of an original streaming series whose seasons typically consist of 8 episodes. John Shiban is returning as showrunner.
The move gives the NBCUniversal streamer an original Dick Wolf drama series to go with the Wolf library and next-day runs of the company’s remaining NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, which are among the platform’s most viewed titles.

As a film and television production desinger for nearly three decades, Emmy nominee Rocco Matteo was no stranger to the spy thriller genre. But when he was hired to design the new Paramount+ eight-episode streaming series “Rabbit Hole” starring “24” alum Kiefer Sutherland, he encountered something somewhat new for him: a star who led with his body and liked to toss caution to the wind. So part of his job, he discovered early on, was to help save Sutherland from himself. Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“One of our directors on ‘Rabbit Hole,’ Jon Cassar, who had worked with Kiefer on “24” for a long time, came up to me one day and said, ‘Oh by the way, make sure that anything Kiefer has to come into contact with is padded very well, because he won’t hold back’,” Matteo recalls. “He is so true to form in his character...

Sarah Polley woke up to a letter demanding she return her recently won Oscar, on Saturday. And then she realized she had been pranked by her own child for April Fools’ Day.
“My eleven-year-old swung low for April Fools’ Day this year,” the Canadian filmmaker wrote as caption to the note, which she posted on Twitter.
In March, Polley won the Best Adapted Screenplay award for “Women Talking,” but the joke letter requested she send the trophy back to Los Angeles, so it can be given to the rightful Best Adapted Screenplay, “All Quiet on the Western Front.”

Howard Gordon has spent much of the pandemic consumed by his latest thriller, an anthology series titled Accused. The weekly collection of topical stories, where viewers come in knowing nothing about the featured crime or how the defendant ended up on trial, has him back at Fox — home to his earlier entries The X-Files and 24. And while he didn’t necessarily conceive of Accused for broadcast, he believed the adaptation of the BBC series would be best suited for a commercial environment. So, on Jan. 22 comes the first entry from the lucrative deal Gordon and his longtime friend, Princeton classmate and Homeland co-creator Alex Gansa signed with Sony Pictures Television in 2019.

With so many shows being revived, it's about time Fox brings back 24. The hit series, starring Kiefer Sutherland, aired for eight seasons between 2001 and 2014 and had a television movie on Fox before taking its final bow in 2014. Since then, there's been a lot of talk about bringing back the spy show, which followed agent counterterrorist agent Jack Bauer, but nothing has happened and fans want to know why. For executive producer Jon Cassar, the reason is quite simple. "They've been talking about it for years, it's a tough one," Cassar told Screenrant Aug. 4. "It's how do you come back and how do you come up with another story?" He continued,...

This review of The Orville: New Horizons contains spoilers.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 8
When Den of Geek spoke to the creative team of The Orville: New Horizons, director Jon Cassar, and executive-producers David A. Goodman and Brannon Braga spoke of how many of the episodes in this third season felt like making small films. There is no doubt “Midnight Blue” is the ultimate example of that creative approach.
This third season has far surpassed the outreach of the previous two outings of The Orville in terms of scope, scale, and more importantly: social commentary. Only three episodes ago, in “A Tale of Two Topas”, the show dealt with an immensely important and topical issue when Topa (Imani Pullum), felt unhappy in their existence. While Topa had the support of one of her fathers, Bortus (Peter Macon), they truly only found themselves when they transitioned to female and once again claimed who she is.

This review of The Orville: New Horizons contains spoilers.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 4
Good science-fiction should challenge us. It should contain subtext that can teach, subvert, and even make us uncomfortable by shining a light on aspects of our world we don’t want to look at. Whether it is the golden standard of this layered writing style such as The Outer Limits, the legendary The Twilight Zone, or recent forays into the genre like Black Mirror, these tiny vignettes of fiction are loaded with political subtext and important morals. This week’s “Gently Falling Rain”, much like the season 3 premiere of The Orville: New Horizons perhaps goes from subtextual to “textual”, but can definitely be considered one of the biggest episodes of the series in terms of scope, impact, and timeliness.
Jon Cassar, director of “Gently Falling Rain”, chooses to open the story in a very ominous and almost silent fashion,...

‘The Orville’ Future Beyond Season 3 Uncertain As Seth MacFarlane & His Cast Focus On Other Projects
The Orville has been a passion project — and a big undertaking — for Seth MacFarlane who created, writes, directs, executive produces and stars in the space comedy-drama. As the series is preparing for the June 2 launch of Season 3 on Hulu, there are no current plans for a fourth season. I hear the cast of the series was released in August when their most recent options expired.
In addition to finishing Season 3 of The Orville, titled New Horizons, MacFarlane has been focusing on his development under the mega overall deal he has at NBCUniversal, including the upcoming Peacock series Ted, based on MacFarlane’s movie franchise, with him reprising his voice role as the title character. Ted just cast The Orville cast member Scott Grimes as a series regular, reuniting him with MacFarlane.
While there are no plans for Season 4 of The Orville, I hear Season 3 is not designed as a definitive ending to the series.

We’ve always promised you a television experience that will make it worth the wait, and we’re not wavering on that. We understand the frustration you’re feeling over more delays, so we want to...

However, Jordan Helman, head of scripted originals at Hulu, has provided an update on progress. He said that he’s seen cuts of the show coming in and is hopeful of a premiere sooner rather than later.
“The past year and a half has been complicated on a variety of levels as it pertains to production,” he told Deadline. “I can’t share a launch date, but we’re really excited about what we’ve seen thus far.”

“500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” director Marc Webb has signed a multi-year overall deal at ABC Studios, the Disney-owned studio said Wednesday.
Under the pact, he will direct pilots and develop projects across all forms of television — including streaming and series programming — as an executive producer exclusively for Abcs through his Black Lamb production company. Webb’s longtime executive producing partner Mark Martin and creative executive Karen Feldesman will continue to collaborate with him on all projects for ABC Studios that hail from Black Lamb.
Webb previously had a two-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios, which he signed in 2015.

Seth MacFarlane’s space adventure series The Orville is moving to Hulu from Fox for its upcoming third season. The series will be available exclusively on the streaming service as a Hulu Original in late 2020. MacFarlane made the announcement today during the show’s panel at Comic-Con in San Diego.
As for the decision to move the series, which was renewed by Fox for a third season in May, Deadline hears the show has evolved and production timelines have pushed delivery, making what was planned as a mid-season debut difficult. The show has a passionate fan base, and Hulu was able to step in as a home where the show can continue. Following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox assets, Hulu is now a corporate sibling to The Orville producer 20th TV, where MacFarlane has long been under a deal, but Fox no longer is.

Seth MacFarlane’s “The Orville” is beaming over from Fox to Hulu for its upcoming third season.
The sci-fi series’ creator and star shared the news himself during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, revealing Season 3 will launch on the streaming service as a Hulu original in late 2020.
An individual with knowledge of the “Star Trek”-esque show’s move from Fox to Hulu told TheWrap that “Orville” studio 20th Century Fox Television and MacFarlane worked closely with the broadcast network and streaming service to make the shift happen, as Fox had already renewed the series for Season 3 back in May.

Seth MacFarlane’s “The Orville” is on the move.
MacFarlane announced Saturday at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel that Season 3 of the sci-fi series will air exclusively on Hulu rather than on Fox as it has for its first two seasons.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, MacFarlane’s current workload and the length of time it takes to finish work on the show’s numerous special effects sequences would have meant that Season 3 would not have been ready for a midseason debut. New episodes are now expected to launch on Hulu at the end of 2020. The streamer currently has the first two seasons available to subscribers.

Exclusive: Seth MacFarlane is bringing The Orville to San Diego this week in a big way — and not just for the fans attending Comic-Con International.
A sprawling exhibit called The Orville Experience will bring the sci-fi show’s 25th century universe to the historic Carnation Dairy Building (390 11th Avenue)with a huge collection of props, creatures, costumes, concept art, and practical models, including the show’s title starship, the USS Orville, the Planetary Union exploration vessel named after aviation pioneer Orville Wright.
MacFarlane personally engineered the exhibit idea, which came together very quickly. He told Deadline that he wanted to connect the show to its fanbase by figuratively welcoming them aboard the USS Orville.
“After completing two seasons of The Orville and witnessing the wonderfully gratifying audience response, I decided I wanted to bring something directly to the fans this year — and there’s no better place to do it than San Diego Comic-Con,...

Fred Savage makes his talk-show host debut Sunday on Fox’s “What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage” — a very real aftershow based on a very not real sci-fi series called “The Flare.” Well, not real for now, at least, as the “Wonder Years” alum is thinking maybe his show could help its fake lead-in get the green light.
“I’ll be honest, we’re hoping that it’s not so fake,” Savage — who hosts, co-created and executive produces “What Just Happened??!” — told TheWrap. “I mean, ‘The Flare’ does exist — just a scene at a time. The books are obviously completely made up, but the show itself, like, we have a real cast, a real director, and I think it’s a good show.”
“The Flare” is based on fictional author Tj Whitford’s sci-fi book series, “The Moon is the Sun at Night,” which has been a favorite of Savage’s since childhood.
