Louise Byrne(I)
- Composer
Louise Byrne is the pen name of Marilou Vetter. Self taught as a young
pianist, she began taking lessons on piano and violin at the very late
age of 18. As a teenager, was intrigued by classical music as well as
music in films, and would recreate this music by ear on the piano.
Attended Ohio State University in the 70s; majoring in music
composition with intent to write music for film; and eventually adding
violin as a minor. Upon graduation, switched to viola and played
professionally in symphony orchestras in the US and Europe until the
early 90s. At that time she returned to school for a BFA in film with
emphasis in cinematography. After several years of working in film
production and observing the production process, she returned to
composing, winning awards and scoring a number of short films and
documentaries.
