Top Dog is a feisty crime drama written by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson, the film charts the fall of reformed bad boy Billy Evans (Leo Gregory), who leads a strong cast including Dannielle Brent and Lorraine Stanley.
The film is the second feature from director Martin Kemp, who takes care to ensure that his film has heart, as well as a good old-fashioned fight. We sat with the director himself, alongside Leo Gregory, to discuss their work on the production.
Top Dog is in cinemas from Friday 23rd May and out to own on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 26th May through Universal Pictures. Read our review here.

Crime dramas, crime thrillers, gangster films. They often get a bad rap – and it’s not hard to see why when there’s a constant stream of poorly made, low budget films being spurned out with the same boring plot where someone shoots someone because he ‘mugged off’ wotshisname / stole the drugs / snitched on so-and-so. So it’s something of a relief when something comes along that’s been made with a little more effort, which is where Martin Kemp’s Top Dog comes into play.
Top Dog was brought to life by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson and lead actor Leo Gregory, who plays bad-boy-turned-good Billy Evans. Evans makes the fatal faux pas of trying to protect his family from a local gang who are charging them protection money – so far, so ordinary. But director Kemp is evidently keen on attempting to present something a little different. There is...

Written and directed by Ben Drew - better known as Plan B - Ill Manors tells the tale of four different people in and around London's Forest Gate, all with their own particular problems.Their stories are weaved together in Drew's debut feature alongside his own particular brand of musical stylings, giving this teaser trailer over at The Guardian a feeling of 'exceptionally dark music video' about it. In other words, Riz Ahmed (Four Lions), Nathalie Press (My Summer Of Love) and Dannielle Brent (Shifty) star in an ensemble piece that looks like it may not make you laugh, but will damn well make you think.Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you reckon - despite its lack of plot exposition, does this dark and dirty hip-hopera look like a something you might be interested in? Can Plan B join the rarified ranks of music artist-cum-film director?...

Some casting details are coming in for Plan B's (Ben Drew) hip-hop musical Ill Manors. Mem Ferda has been attached to this production as the villain Vladimir, who lives a tough life on the streets of East London. These tough times are taken out on the character Katya (Natalie Press), who plays a prostitute. Ferda changed physically for this role by weightlifing and having several temporary tattoos applied to his skin. The original graphics can be seen left. Other characters had to transform for their roles to play those down on their luck and also starring are Riz Ahmed, Martin Serene, and Anouska Mond.
Others might know Plan B based on his musical talents including his chart topping album "The Defamation of Strickland Banks." Ill Manors will have a hip-hop musical vibe that will set the vicious tone for the film, with Plan B co-producing several new tracks for this film.
